Two men are accused of robbing people of iPhones during separate incidents on the Near North Side during the night of the July 4th fireworks, police said.

Quejuan Henley, 18, and Harold William Cherry, 25, were both charged with felony robbery, police said.

 

Henley is accused of grabbing an iPhone from a 41-year-old woman walking with her son about 9:40 p.m. Thursday at Division Street and Lake Shore Drive in the Gold Coast neighborhood while Cherry, who was armed with a knife, allegedly snatched a cell phone from a 51-year-old man sitting in his car about 11 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of North Michigan Avenue in the Near North neighborhood

 

In the incident involving Henley, the victim told police she was holding her son's hand and her iPhone in the other hand while walking, according to a police report.
Henley is accused of forcefully pulling the phone from the woman, causing her to spin around and lose her grip of the phone. She began chasing him briefly, yelling "Give me my phone," before an unknown accomplice tripped her, causing her to fall to the ground and scrape her right knee and left wrist, the report said.

In a separate incident about an hour later in the 500 block of North Michigan Avenue, Cherry allegedly "pounded on" the car window of a 51-year-old Northwest Side man before "snatching open" the door of his 2011 Honda Civic and, with a clenched fist, demanding that the  motorist give him his cell phone, police said

That number of slayings, 184, is the lowest total Chicago police have reported to the FBI for the first half of a year since reporting 180 in 1965, according to official Police Department statistics.\

But internal department data obtained by the Tribune show an identical number of people were slain in Chicago during the first six months of 2013 and 2011 — 188.

Thursday evening in Chicago, black grassroots activists fed up with manipulation of their suffering by city leadership turned out to protest a fundraiser for President Obama held by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Illinois Speaker of the General Assembly Michael Madigan.

According to the protesters, Emanuel, Madigan, and Obama pretend to try to help their community but do nothing to curb the funneling of money and contracts to corrupt community organizations and union-controlled worksites that won’t hire black labor.
According to Mark Carter of the Broke Party, a newly formed group of black grassroots activists fed up with the destruction and blight brought on their community by the liberal agenda, the protest was “about bringing attention to the demolition of homes in Chicago’s black communities on the west and south sides.” These buildings, Carter says, “can still be saved, but the city is tearing them down,” leaving property values and the community in the gutter.

CIC has heard directly from liquor store owners within the community that Rear End Pfleger services (Gresham), that the sure way to become part of one of Satanic St. Sabina's protests marches, is to fail to contribute to Rear End Pfleger's church after getting the "why haven't you contributed to St. Sabina" call. Of course, if the Chicago media wasn't a brought and paid for puppet, they could and would easily prove or disprove these calms. You can be sure they won't.

Dad chases down man who grabbed daughter, 2- It took 5 day for the media to report this one?

Kelly Davis wonders what would have happened had he been looking the other way for just a few moments.
He was standing in Daley Plaza, watching his 2-year-old and 4-year-old daughters slide down the Picasso sculpture, when he saw a man rushing toward Myla, the youngest girl, Saturday evening.
The man grabbed the girl's arm, muttering "This is my daughter, Goldilocks," but Davis said he wrestled him away and then chased him through alleys and building lobbies before finally flagging down police.
"I have no doubt that if I had my back turned, he would have grabbed her and she would have been gone in the city and I would have never seen her again," said Davis, 31, who lives in Zion and drives a school bus.
James Gates, 55, was charged with attempted kidnapping and battery, and is being held on $150,000 bail. Police say he has a record that includes armed robbery and drug possession.

Following in line with their broadcast television colleagues who deliberately edited the audio of a 9-1-1 call of George Zimmerman, the Florida community watch volunteer who shot teenager Trayvon Martin, to falsely impute racist motives to him, MSNBC.com, in an unbylined piece did the exact same thing in text form, stripping out vital information which made Zimmerman appear to be racially motivated against Martin, who is black

After being criticized, MSNBC.com restored the proper context but never posted a retraction, correction notice, or an apology for doing so.

Originally, the story quoted from Zimmerman's call to 9-1-1 and edited the text to say the following:
"'This guy looks like he’s up to no good … he looks black,' Zimmerman told a police dispatcher from his car."

But here is what MSNBC/NBC News left out

ZIMMERMAN: This guy looks like he's up to no good, or he's on drugs or something. It's raining, and he's just walking around, looking about.
911 DISPATCHER: Okay, is this guy, is he white, black, or Hispanic?
ZIMMERMAN: He looks black.

Not only did Zimmerman not equate Martin's skin color with his looking suspicious; he didn't even initiate the comment. It was simply a response to the police dispatcher.

A police surveillance video taken the night that Trayvon Martin was shot dead shows no blood or bruises on George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who says he shot Martin after he was punched in the nose, knocked down and had his head slammed into the ground.

But here's the truth-
Reporter Matt Gutman said the clearer video shows "what appear to be a pair of gashes or welts on George Zimmerman's head."

A Chicago television station is being blasted by civil rights leaders and news media professionals for airing edited video of a 4-year-old boy that took his statements out of context, violating the basics of journalism ethics.
The Maynard Institute published a story on July 21 detailing how Chicago CBS station WBBM ran a story about the June 29 shooting of two teenagers in the Park Manor neighborhood.
A freelance photographer interviewed the youngster about whether the shooting frightened him. The station aired the portion of the interview in which the boy responded by saying he was not afraid and wanted his own gun.
However, it failed to air the portion of the child’s quote in which he said he wanted a gun because he planned to be a police officer.
