Shootings in Chicago August 17, 18, 2013

26-year-old man shot in Austin
A man was shot about 1 a.m. in the 5000 block of West Superior Street in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side. The 26-year-old was standing in a group and told police he heard shots and felt pain. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition
24-year-old man  shot in Heart of Chicago
At about 3:45 a.m. a 24-year-old man was shot in the leg while he stood with a group of people outside a home in the 1700 block of West 19th Street in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the South Side. He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital
14 year old boy shot in Lawndale
A  boy in his teens was shot about 5 a.m. Saturday in the 4000 block of West Grenshaw Street in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. He was hit in the hand and foot and is in stable condition at Mount Sinai Hospital
17-year-old boy and 18-year-old man shot in  Little Village
A 17-year-old boy walked up to an 18-year-old man with a shotgun Friday night in the Little Village neighborhood, pointed the weapon toward his face and squeezed the trigger.
Within minutes, someone else who had seen the shooting shot the 17-year-old in the head and both young men shot are in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Police said the two were found lying near each other in the 2600 block of South Ridgeway Avenue about 10:10 p.m. Both identify with conflicting gangs and were shot on a street painted with graffiti from those gangs, which use Ridgeway as a border.
19-year-old man shot in Austin
The latest shooting happened about 1 p.m. near the intersection of North and Leamington avenues in the city's North Austin neighborhood.
Preliminary reports said a 19-year-old man suffered wounds to his chest, arm and foot. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in serious condition
17 year old shot in Brainerd
Shortly after 12 p.m., paramedics responded to a shooting on the 9100 block South Elizabeth Street at Brainerd Park in the Brainerd neighborhood.
Paramedics transported a teen in serious-to-critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Chicago Police Department News Affairs said the shooting happened on the 1200 block of West 91st Street and said the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body.
36-year-old man shot in Princeton Park
At about 2:10 a.m. a 36-year-old man was shot in the 200 block of West 94th Street in the Princeton Park neighborhood on the South Side. He was shot multiple times and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
46 year old man shot in Humboldt Park
A man, 46, was shot about 2:09 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Kildare Avenue in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Gaines said. The man, who suffered a wound to his right forearm and a graze wound to his buttocks, told police he had been shot in a crossfire while sitting in a car. He then tried to drive away from the scene in the car, but it ran out of gas at Division Street and Karlov Avenue and he called police. Bullets from the shooting also damaged a house in that area
Three men shot in Lawndale
Three men were listed in critical condition after being shot about 12:45 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Lawndale Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood. One was shot in the stomach, one in the back and one in the thigh and hand. Two 29-year-old men were being treated at Mount Sinai; a 24-year-old man was being treated at Stroger hospital.
2 men 18 and 30 shot in West Pullman
In  the 500 block of West 115th Street about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, two men, 18 and 30, were shot in the back as they rode bicycles. They told police they heard shots and felt pain and were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition
Man shot in West Ridge
A man was shot about 10 p.m. in the 6000 block of North Sacramento Avenue. He made it to a Walgreens near Lincoln Avenue and Peterson Avenue and collapsed there, where authorities found him. He was shot in the side and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in serious condition.
26-year-old man shot in Humboldt Park
At about 4:15 a.m. Sunday, a 26-year-old man showed up at Norwegian-American Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his right thigh which he said happened in the 1500 block of North Talman Avenue in the city’s Humboldt Park neighborhood. No one is in custody for the shooting and the 26-year-old was not cooperating with detectives.
44-year-old man shot in Hegewich
A 44-year-old man was shot about 1:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of East 122nd Street on the Far South Side. The man was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
 23-year-old woman shot in Austin
At about 12 a.m., a 23-year-old woman was shot in the back in the 1100 block of North Mason Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said. The woman was struck in the back and taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where she was listed in good condition

A man in his 20s was shot about 10:05 p.m. in the city's Hegewisch neighborhood on the Southeast Side. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in stable condition with multiple leg wounds

Person killed in Hegewisch crash

A person was killed in a single-car crash this afternoon in the Hegewisch neighborhood on the Far Southeast Side.
The crash happened about 1:30 p.m. on the 13000 block of South Torrence Avenue.
The Major Accident Investigation Unit responded and one person was reported fatally injured.
Initial reports indicated the vehicle hit a concrete barrier or bridge support

Third man charged in Hegewisch shooting

A third man has been charged with shooting two women outside a home because the two women denied them entry to a party.
The women, 31 and 46, were at a birthday party in the Hegewisch neighborhood on the 2700 block of East 128th Street about 11:50 p.m. on June 2 when three men tried to get in. The women said no.
The three left but came back with bats, and again were denied entry. They drove off but a short way down the block, one got out and opened fire, hitting the 31-year-old in the eye and the 46-year-old in the shoulder.
Both were taken to St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare hospital in Hammond but the younger was later transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Ventura Lechuga, 20, of the 3500 block of East 95th Street, was charged early on June 22 with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm.
Matthew and Brandon Medrano, brothers from the same gang as Lechuga who lived together in the 3000 block of East 80th Street, were both charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm on June 5.

Two women shot in Hegewich

Just before midnight, two women were shot on the 2700 block of East 128th Street in the Hegewisch neighborhood, police said. A 31-year-old woman was shot in the face and a 46-year-old woman was shot in the shoulder. The two were on a porch and refused two men entry to a house party and the men, while walking away, fired shots from down the block and struck the two.

Man charged with stabbing father in Hegewisch neighborhood

A Hegewisch man was charged this morning in the fatal stabbing of his elderly father inside the far Southeast Side home they shared. Miltiadis Douzopoulos, 31, faces first-degree murder charges in the Sunday night slaying of his father Nikolaus Douzopoulos at their home in the 12900 block of South Manistee Avenue.
Officers found the elder Douzopoulos dead in the home's basement with multiple stab wounds to his chest and arms.
Police said the stabbing occurred during an altercation between the father and his son, but didn't say what sparked the dispute. Afterwards, Miltiadis Douzopoulos called 911 and confessed to a police dispatcher.
The fatal stabbing was the first homicide in Hegewisch in nearly a year.
Douzopoulos is expected to appear before a judge later today.

Man, 71, fatally stabbed in Hegewisch neighborhood

A 71-year-old man was fatally stabbed late Sunday during a quarrel with his adult son inside his Hegewisch neighborhood home.
The dead man, whose name wasn't immediately released, was found unresponsive in the basement of his home in the 12900 block of South Manistee Avenue at about 10 p.m.
The man had an apparent stab wounds to his chest and arms and was dead at the scene.
Police said the elderly victim was stabbed multiple times during an altercation with his 31-year-old son.
Officers arrested the victim's son at the scene, but no charges had been filed, as detectives continued their investigation.
