Police: Charges filed in West Pullman sexual assault

Charges have been filed against a Far South Side man accused of a fall 2011 sexual assault.
Dwayne Towns, 51, of the 12200 block of South Morgan Street, is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault with a firearm and kidnapping with a firearm.
The attack occurred Sept. 4, 2011, in the 12200 block of South Sangamon Street and Towns was identified as the suspect through DNA evidence and a physical lineup.

1 killed, 1 injured in West Pullman shooting

A  19-year-old woman was killed and a 23-year-old man was injured in a shooting this afternoon in the West Pullman neighborhood.
The shooting was reported at 12:37 p.m. on the 11700 block of South Eggleston Avenue on the Far South Side.
A 19-year-old woman was shot in the head and taken to Roseland Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
She was identified as Natasha Green of the 11700 block of South Normal Avenue,. She was pronounced dead at 1:20 p.m.
Green and the man were walking westbound when a  gray car also driving westbound pulled up and someone from inside began shooting before fleeing.
The man was treated and released for his injury.

35-year-old man shot during robbery

A 35-year-old man was shot in the leg, wrist, thigh and abdomen about 12:10 a.m. Monday in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side. He was in a car in the 12200 block of South Aberdeen Street when shot and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Police said he was shot trying to flee a robbery. It's not clear if man's shooter got anything.

27-year-old man shot during robbery in West Pullman

In  the city's West Pullman neighborhood shortly before 2 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in the chest and seriously hurt during a robbery in the 12200 block of South Harvard Avenue.
The victim's condition had stabilized at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn

22-year-old man shot dead in West Pullman

At about 9:25 p.m. a 22-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk on the 11600 block of South Bishop, Street when he was shot in the head.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene in the West Pullman neighborhood

Man wounded by shot fired through window of home

A  49-year-old man was wounded in the shoulder when a bullet pierced a window of a home in the West Pullman neighborhood this morning.
Shots were fired about 5 a.m. in the 12400 block of South Stewart Avenue.
The man was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was in good condition

48-year-old man shot on the Mag Mile

The 48-year-old man was in his vehicle when he was shot in the back in the 100 block of East Superior Street about 11 p.m.
The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition had stabilized
Police said the Frisco, Texas man, a guest in a hotel in the 200 block East Walton Street, told officers he was driving a rented 2014 Jeep Patriot at Superior Street and Michigan Avenue when he heard his driver’s side rear window shatter. At first, he thought someone knocked out his window and he fled, going northbound on Michigan Avenue.
The hotel valet parked the vehicle and once he got into his room, he found his t-shirt was “wet and full of blood’’ and realized he was shot on the left side of his chest and his left rear shoulder.  He notified the front desk clerk and police and an ambulance came to the hotel.

24-year-old shot in Galewood

At about 6:15 p.m. in the Galewood neighborhood on the Northwest Side, a 24-year-old male suffered a graze wound to the head during another shooting in the 2100 block of North Mulligan Avenue

23 year old man shot in Chatham

A man shot in the chest about 11:50 p.m. in the city's East Chatham neighborhood.
The victim, 23, was standing on a sidewalk in the 900 block of East 82^nd Street when two males approached him on foot and fired shots at him. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where’ his condition had stabilized

Man shot in Gresham

In the city’s Gresham neighborhood about 8:30 p.m. in the 8900 block of South Union Avenue, someone shot a male in the leg. The victim, whose age was not available, was taken in serious to critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn

On the Far South Side’s West Pullman neighborhood about 8:20 p.m., someone shot two males in 300 block of West 119^th Street. One victim suffered a graze wound to the abdomen while the second was shot in the right arm

49-year-old man shot during robbery attempt in South Deering

About 4:15 a.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of East 107th Street in the Trumbull Park neighborhood on the Far South Side, a 49-year-old man was shot in the leg during an armed robbery attempt, police said. The victim was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital where his condition was stabilized.

Man shot dead in West Pullman

Police found a man in his 20s dead on a Far South Side parkway early Thursday morning .
Police found the dead man about 12:50 a.m. near the corner of 122nd Street and Union Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood. He had been shot in the head.

The shooting happened about 4:18 p.m. on the 6100 block of South Kimbark Avenue.
The man, 20, was reportedly shot several times in his leg. He was taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital

On city's Far South Side about 7:15 p.m. on the 13100 block of South Langley Avenue, a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg and reportedly in good condition

33-year-old man shot during robbery in Austin

In  a shooting in the Austin neighborhood on the city's West Side, a 33-year-old man was shot during a robbery about 12:05 a.m.
The victim was on a sidewalk when he was confronted by three attackers who pulled a handgun and robbed the man of cash before they shot him in the mouth in the 5500 block of West Huron Street.
The victim’s brother took him to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park but he was transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where his condition had stabilized

24-year-old man shot in West Pullman

In  the West Pullman neighborhood at 11:30 p.m. a 24-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the forearm in the 11500 block of South Racine Avenue. The victim declined to be taken to a hospital after the Far South Side shooting

15-year-old boy shot in Logan Square

At 10 p.m. in the Logan Square neighborhood a 15-year-old boy was walking in an alley in the 3200 block of West Wabansia Avenue when several males shouted gang slogans at him before firing shots, hitting the boy in the left leg. He was taken to Stroger where his condition had stabilized, and the shooting is gang related

24-year-old man shot in Park Manor

A  24-year-old man was shot Saturday night in the Park Manor neighborhood on the city's South Side. Someone shot the man in the buttocks in the 400 block of East 73^rd Street about 9:30 p.m.

Man held without bail in West Pullman shooting over cell phone

West Pullman man has been charged with attempted murder after he shot a man over a dispute involving a cell phone.
Letroy Fields, 34, is accused of shooting a 30-year-old man on a front porch in the 11600 block of South Harvard Avenue at 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
Fields was ordered held without bail after he appeared in court this afternoon.
The shooting happened after a party as the two argued over a phone.  The victim remained in critical condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Officials said Fields and the victim had a similar phone and that Fields may have thought the victim took his phone.
Authorities said Fields, of the 12000 block of South Wentworth Avenue, and the victim may have known each other.
When Fields was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, he was treated for a graze wound to the ankle, police said. It was not clear whether the wound was self-inflicted.
According to a police report, Fields told police that he had been shot but when police noticed an ulceration on his leg and took him to a local hospital he refused medical treatment.

14-year-old boy shot in South Shore

At about 1:30 p.m. in the South Side's South Shore neighborhood, someone shot a 14-year-old boy in the arm as he stood on the sidewalk in the 2100 block of East 68th Place.
The boy was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He has since been released.

 16-year-old boy shot in Humboldt Park

A 16-year-old boy was shot about 4 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Ridgeway Avenue, in the West Side's Humboldt Park neighborhood.
Police said the boy was shot in the forearm and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

2 men shot in West Pullman

A 30-year-old man was critically hurt when someone opened fire during a dispute involving a cell phone early this morning in the Far South Side's West Pullman neighborhood.
About 1:30 a.m., someone opened fire on a porch in the 11600 block of South Harvard Avenue, striking the man multiple times.
A witness told police at the scene he heard about seven or eight shots.
Shortly after the shooting, which happened on the east side of a southbound one-way street, police took a 34-year-old man into custody as a possible suspect. The shooting happened after a party during a dispute about the 34-year-old's phone.
Police said the shooter and the man shot may have known each other.
The 30-year-old was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in critical condition.
The 34-year-old man taken into custody was treated for a graze wound to the ankle. It was not immediately clear whether the wound was self-inflicted or whether someone else fired the shot.
The 34-year-old, who was taken to Roseland Community Hospital in custody, has not been charged.

31-year-old man shot in Pilsen

A 31-year-old man was shot while driving his vehicle in the Pilsen neighborhood, police said.
The shooting happened about 5:15 a.m in the 900 block of West 19th Street. The man was taken with a gunshot wound to the leg to the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago, where his condition was stabilized.

21-year-old man shot in West Pullman

A South Side shooting left one man wounded. He was dropped off at Metro South Medical Center by his mother after he was shot about 11:20 p.m. Police said he was shot near 117th and Eggleston streets in the West Pullman neighborhood.
The 21-year-old was walking when he “heard shots and felt pain”. His mother was nearby and drove him to the hospital and from there he was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.

22-year-old man shot in Garfield Park

A 22-year-old man was shot in the 4200 block of West Jackson Boulevard in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. He was standing on a sidewalk when a vehicle pulled alongside and someone inside started shooting. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a wound to his right arm

Man found in West Pullman was shot in head

Chicago police are investigating the death of a 24-year-old man whose decomposed body was found this morning inside a West Pullman apartment with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police were called to the Far South Side apartment in the 200 block of East 121st Place around 10:15 a.m. and found the victim in one room and a gun in another room

At about 1:40 a.m., a 29-year-old man walked into Loretto Hospital after being shot in the ankle. The man told police he took a bus to the hospital after being shot in the 6400 block of West Addison Street

23-year-old man shot in Englewood

Tuesday night, in the Englewood neighborhood, a 23-year-old was shot about 9:25 p.m. in the 1200 block of West 73rd Place. The man was struck in the thigh and walked into St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center. He was treated and released.

25 year old man shot in West Pullman

About 8 p.m., in the West Pullman neighborhood, someone emerged from a gangway and shot a man in the knee in the 0-100 block of East 118th Place.  The injured man, 25, was taken to Roseland Community Hospital in good condition.

Man and woman shot in Back of the Yards

Two people were injured after being shot in the Back of the Yards Neighborhood.
A man and woman were standing with a group of people on the 5000 block of South Peoria Avenue when the shooting happened at 4:35 p.m.
A 25-year-old man was shot in the upper left leg and a 21-year-old woman was shot in the lower right arm.
They were shot after a gray colored SUV drove up and began firing at the group.
The victims were taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition

41-year-old man shot in Roseland

A  41-year-old man was shot while he was standing on a front porch on the 1100 block of West 112th Street.
The shooting happened at about 7:40 p.m. The man was shot in the leg and taken to Roseland Hospital where his condition had stabilized

16 year old shot in Roseland

A male was shot in the left leg at about 7:50 p.m. on the 11300 block of South Eggleston Avenue. The male, whose age was not immediately available, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where his condition had stabilized

Man shot in Washington Heights

At about 8:30 p.m. a man was shot in the abdomen on the 8900 block of South May Street. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition

19-year-old man shot in Lawndale

About 9:10 p.m., someone in a light-colored van shot a 19-year-old man from about four feet away as he stood in the 2400 block of South Trumbull Avenue. The man was struck in the chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
Police said the shooter and the 19-year-old had been in a fist fight earlier Wednesday.

1 shot 1 shot dead in West Pullman

The latest shooting happened about 2:20 p.m. on the 11700 block of South Morgan Street in the city's West Pullman neighborhood.
A male, whose age was not immediately available, was shot in the head and initially taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He was later pronounced dead at 3:39 p.m. at the hospital. His identity was not being released pending family notification, but officials said he lived on the same block where he was shot.
Another victim, who was described as in his late teens, suffered a wound to his foot at the same location

18-year-old man shot in West Pullman

In a shooting early this morning, an 18-year-old man was shot about 1:20 a.m. in the 12600 block of South Stewart Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side. The man, who was shot in both legs, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

30-year-old man shot in Lawndale

At about 1:20 a.m., a 30-year-old man was shot as he walked out of a vehicle in the 1200 block of South Kedvale Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and listed in serious condition.

41-year-old man shot in Gold Coast

Later this morning, about 4 a.m., a 41-year-old man was shot in the 0-100 block of East Chestnut Street in the Gold Coast neighborhood on the Near North Side. The shooter fled in a white car, and the 41-year-old was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition. Police said the shooting happened during an argument over a parking space.

Man found fatally shot in West Pullman

A  56-year-old man died this morning after he was found shot in the head at his home, police said.
Police were called to the 12200 block of South Aberdeen Street at a 7:41 a.m.
When police arrived at the home, police found that the man had sustained a gunshot wound to his head.
The man died from his injuries and police have launched a homicide investigation. .
Preliminary information indicated that the man may have been shot as a result of a drug debt.
The man had been previously shot in front of his home on June 22 but survived. The man was found with a gunshot wound to his side at about 4:45 a.m. after he was involved in an argument with another person.

A man was shot about 1 a.m. in the 5000 block of West Superior Street in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side. The 26-year-old was standing in a group and told police he heard shots and felt pain. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition

24-year-old man  shot in Heart of Chicago

At about 3:45 a.m. a 24-year-old man was shot in the leg while he stood with a group of people outside a home in the 1700 block of West 19th Street in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the South Side. He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital

14 year old boy shot in Lawndale

A  boy in his teens was shot about 5 a.m. Saturday in the 4000 block of West Grenshaw Street in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. He was hit in the hand and foot and is in stable condition at Mount Sinai Hospital

17-year-old boy and 18-year-old man shot in  Little Village

A 17-year-old boy walked up to an 18-year-old man with a shotgun Friday night in the Little Village neighborhood, pointed the weapon toward his face and squeezed the trigger.
Within minutes, someone else who had seen the shooting shot the 17-year-old in the head and both young men shot are in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Police said the two were found lying near each other in the 2600 block of South Ridgeway Avenue about 10:10 p.m. Both identify with conflicting gangs and were shot on a street painted with graffiti from those gangs, which use Ridgeway as a border.

19-year-old man shot in Austin

The latest shooting happened about 1 p.m. near the intersection of North and Leamington avenues in the city's North Austin neighborhood.
Preliminary reports said a 19-year-old man suffered wounds to his chest, arm and foot. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in serious condition

17 year old shot in Brainerd

Shortly after 12 p.m., paramedics responded to a shooting on the 9100 block South Elizabeth Street at Brainerd Park in the Brainerd neighborhood.
Paramedics transported a teen in serious-to-critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Chicago Police Department News Affairs said the shooting happened on the 1200 block of West 91st Street and said the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

36-year-old man shot in Princeton Park

At about 2:10 a.m. a 36-year-old man was shot in the 200 block of West 94th Street in the Princeton Park neighborhood on the South Side. He was shot multiple times and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

46 year old man shot in Humboldt Park

A man, 46, was shot about 2:09 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Kildare Avenue in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Gaines said. The man, who suffered a wound to his right forearm and a graze wound to his buttocks, told police he had been shot in a crossfire while sitting in a car. He then tried to drive away from the scene in the car, but it ran out of gas at Division Street and Karlov Avenue and he called police. Bullets from the shooting also damaged a house in that area

Three men shot in Lawndale

Three men were listed in critical condition after being shot about 12:45 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Lawndale Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood. One was shot in the stomach, one in the back and one in the thigh and hand. Two 29-year-old men were being treated at Mount Sinai; a 24-year-old man was being treated at Stroger hospital.

2 men 18 and 30 shot in West Pullman

In  the 500 block of West 115th Street about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, two men, 18 and 30, were shot in the back as they rode bicycles. They told police they heard shots and felt pain and were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition

Man shot in West Ridge

A man was shot about 10 p.m. in the 6000 block of North Sacramento Avenue. He made it to a Walgreens near Lincoln Avenue and Peterson Avenue and collapsed there, where authorities found him. He was shot in the side and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in serious condition.

26-year-old man shot in Humboldt Park

At about 4:15 a.m. Sunday, a 26-year-old man showed up at Norwegian-American Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his right thigh which he said happened in the 1500 block of North Talman Avenue in the city’s Humboldt Park neighborhood. No one is in custody for the shooting and the 26-year-old was not cooperating with detectives.

44-year-old man shot in Hegewich

A 44-year-old man was shot about 1:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of East 122nd Street on the Far South Side. The man was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

 23-year-old woman shot in Austin

At about 12 a.m., a 23-year-old woman was shot in the back in the 1100 block of North Mason Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said. The woman was struck in the back and taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where she was listed in good condition

15-year-old girl, 16-year-old boy and man shot in Park Manor

A  15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were shot as they left a basketball game around 11:30 p.m. just east of Martin Luther King Drive in the Park Manor neighborhood. A 49-year-old man was also shot.
The 16-year-old was in critical condition with a chest wound at Stroger Hospital and the 15-year-old was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition, suffering from a leg wound. The man walked into the University of Chicago Hospital with a gunshot wound to the groin and also in good condition.
The three were shot by at least one gunman who fired from a nearby alley. 

Two 15-year-old boys shot in Bronzeville

Two 15-year-old boys were shot in the 3800 block of South Vincennes Avenue in the Ida B. Wells/Darrow Homes neighborhood. One was taken to Comer Children's Hospital with a wound to the leg and the other taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center with a graze wound to the shoulder

 27-year-old man shot in South Chicago

Around 9:25 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in the 8500 block of South Oglesby Avenue in the South Chicago neighborhood. He was in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with wounds to the neck and chest

52-year-old man shot in west Pullman

A  52-year-old man was wounded around 1:20 a.m. Thursday in the West Pullman neighborhood. The man was shot in the 11500 block of South State Street and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition with a wound to the leg.

21 year old man shot in West Pullman

A man was shot and critically wounded in the West Pullman neighborhood, but apparently was driven by private car to a hospital instead of taken via ambulance.
The man, 21, walked into Roseland Hospital about 9:25 a.m., after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Police had to check the area for a crime scene, determining that the man likely was shot about 9:15 a.m. near 115th Street and Wentworth Avenue

Two people were wounded this afternoon in a shooting on the South Side in the city's Brainerd neighborhood.
The shooting happened shortly after 1 p.m. on the 9000 block of South Marshfield Avenue.
A male victim was shot in the buttocks and a woman, 34, was shot in the leg and buttocks

About 12:05 a.m., two teens were shot in the 12200 block of South Halsted Street in the West Pullman neighborhood. A 19-year-old man shot in the head was left in critical condition and another, 18, was shot in the right arm and taken to Metro South Medical Center

Someone shot a 18-year-old in the leg and back in the Canaryville neighborhood about 11:30 p.m. The man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County from the 4300 block of South Union Avenue.

16-year-old girl shot in Rosemoor

In the Rosemoor neighborhood about 10 p.m., a 16-year-old girl was shot in the leg in the 10100 block of South Prairie Avenue. She was outside with friends when someone across the street fired a gun toward her group

19-year-old man shot in Lawndale

 19-year-old man walked into Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest about 9:30 p.m. He had been shot in the 2600 block of West 21st Place and dropped off at the hospital by a friend. He was in a group when he heard shots and felt pain

 15-year-old boy, 22-year-old man shot in Englewood

Two people were shot in Englewood about 9:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of west 73rd Street. A 15-year-old boy was hit in the leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and a 22-year-old was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital  with a wound to his buttocks. Police say they were on a porch when someone opened fire from a passing green car.

2 men shot in Calumet Heights

A shooting in the Calumet Heights neighborhood about 7:15 p.m. left two men wounded. The pair walked into Mercy Hospital & Medical Center - a 25-year-old with a wound to the wrist and a 35-year-old with a wound to the shoulder. Both are in good condition.

23-year-old man shot in Marquette Park

About 3:15 p.m., a 23-year-old man walked into Holy Cross Hospital with a gunshot wound to the wrist. He had been shot in the 7100 block of South Kedzie Avenue.

 30-year-old man  shot in the leg

About 3:07 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 5900 block of South Spaulding Avenue. He was stabilized at a local hospital

16 year old girl and man shot in Austin

Two people were shot in the South Austin neighborhood about 11:05 p.m. in the 4800 block of West Walton Street. They were shot near the corner of Cicero Avenue and Walton Street and taken to West Suburban Medical Center in good condition. A 16-year-old girl was shot in the leg and taken in an ambulance and a 21-year-old man showed up at the same hospital with a leg wound

Man charged in West Pullman murder

A South Side man has been charged in connection with the shooting death of a man in late May in the West Pullman neighborhood. Roman Forman, 25, of the 4800 block of South Evans Avenue in the Bronzeville neighborhood, has been charged with first-degree murder in the May 29 shooting death of Freddie Walton, 27, in the 12200 block of South Halsted Avenue on the Far South Side.
Forman, who was arrested Friday, was ordered held with no bail in bond court Sunday.
  Walton was walking into a store about 1 p.m. when a vehicle containing two individuals pulled up and someone started shooting. Walton was struck in the neck and shoulders, Sullivan said, and later died at Roseland Hospital.
