28-year-old man shot in University Village

28-year-old man was injured in a shooting in the University Village / Little Italy neighborhood early Monday.
Shots rang out about 1 a.m. in an alley in the 1200 block of West Taylor Street.
Police believe someone in a dark-colored van opened fire toward a vehicle in the alley, striking the 28-year-old man as he sat in a rear seat.
The man sustained gunshot wounds to the shoulder and was brought to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where his condition was stabilized.

About 4:30 a.m., a man in his 20s arrived at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.
The shooting happened near the intersection of West Roosevelt Road and South Morgan Street.

22-year-old man shot dead in University Village


At about 3 a.m., a 22-year-old man was fatally shot in the 1300 block of West Washburne Avenue in the University Village / Little Italy neighborhood on the Near West Side. Officers responding to a call of a person shot found him on the sidewalk, shot multiple times.
Jamal Coleman, of the 5400 block of West Monroe Street, was taken to Stroger and pronounced dead at 3:22 a.m.

2 shot in Gresham
In a third shooting, a 21-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were shot about 3:45 a.m. in the 1400 block of West 84th Street in the Gresham neighborhood. Police believe the two were sitting in a park when someone opened fire, striking the man in the leg and the woman in the stomach.
Both people were taken to Advocate Christ, where their conditions were stabilized.
2 shot in University Village
At about 6:15 p.m., someone shot a 21-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman in the 1300 block of West Washburn Avenue in the city's University Village neighborhood.
Both were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The woman suffered a graze wound to the head and was taken in good condition to University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago. The man was taken in critical condition to Stroger,
 23-year-old man shot in University Village
In a  shooting at 6:12 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Loomis Street, a 23-year-old man was shot and critically wounded, said Langford, The man was also taken in critical condition to Stroger.
17-year-old boy shot in West Pullman
At about 6:20 p.m. in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, a 17-year-old boy apparently accidentally shot himself in the groin in the 11600 block of South Wentworth Avenue.
The teenager was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition had stabilized
13-year-old boy shot in Chatham
At 6:47 p.m., a 13-year-old boy was shot in the foot in the 7500 block of South Ingleside Avenue. The child was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition
Person shot in Park Manor
At 7:13 p.m., a person was shot in the arm in the 7200 block of South Wabash Avenue and was taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital

2 shot 1 shot dead in University Village

Three people were shot about 3:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of West Maxwell Street in the University Village / Little Italy neighborhood. Two men stepped out of a dark sedan and opened fire toward a group of people standing on the block.
A 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were taken to Stroger hospital, the older man shot in the abdomen and the leg. Both are in stable condition. A 40-year-old man was shot in the right arm and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition

Jerimiah Milsap, 24, of the 1000 block of West Maxwell Street, was declared dead at 7:31 a.m. Saturday at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital, four hours after he was shot multiple times in front of his home

Man critically wounded in Lawndale  shooting
A man, in his 20's, was critically wounded this afternoon in a shooting on the West Side in the city's Lawndale neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. on the 1400 block of South Keeler Avenue
28-year-old man shot in Englewood
A 28-year-old man drove himself to St. Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center after suffering three wounds, two to his abdomen and one to his chest. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said. He was shot in the 5900 block of South Peoria Avenue about 3:30 a.m
Four people, including a 14-year-old boy shot in Woodlawn
Four people, including a 14-year-old boy, were wounded around 12:30 a.m. on Cottage Grove between 60th and 61st streets in the West Woodlawn neighborhood.
The 14-year-old was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, about two blocks away. A 54-year-old woman with a leg wound and a 37-year-old man with a wound to the right forearm were taken to the University of Chicago Hospital. A 35-year-old woman was stable at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a leg wound

21-year-old man shot in Englewood
Friends of a man shot in the buttocks dropped him off at Saint Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center about 3:30 a.m., but police said the 21-year-old was not cooperating with police and had left the hospital. He was shot in the 6500 block of South Parnell Avenue
 Cab driver shot during robbery in South Shore
A cab driver was shot outside a taxi association on the South Side about 2:30 a.m. Friday. The shooter tried to rob the cabbie in the 7700 block of South Exchange Avenue and shot him in the stomach. The 56-year-old man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition
17-year-old boy shot in Roseland
About 2:15 a.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen near 103rd Street and Michigan Avenue in the Roseland neighborhood. He was driven to Little Company of Mary Hospital and transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition.
 Man and a boy, 19 and 16 shot in Englewood
A man and a boy, 19 and 16, were wounded in the 5800 block of South Princeton Avenue about 2:10 a.m. They were on a porch when two men walked up and opened fire. The man was in serious condition at Stroger hospital with a wound to his lower back, and the boy was hit in the left leg and was stable at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center.
35-year-old man shot in Roseland
Someone shot a 35-year-old man in the leg about 11:45 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of East Kensington Avenue in the Roseland neighborhood. He was taken to Metro South Medical Center in stable condition
33-year-old man shot in Marquette Park
 A 33-year-old man was shot in the 7100 block of South Campbell Avenue about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. He was on a porch and hit in the shoulder and leg. He was stable at Mount Sinai Hospital.  He was shot by someone who stepped out of an alley and opened fire.
23-year-old man shot in South Shore
A person was wounded about 10:30 p.m. Thursday in the 7600 block of South Coles Avenue. The man was shot four times in the leg, once in the abdomen and once in the side. The 23-year-old said he didn't know why he was shot. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
27-year-old man shot in Garfield Park
Someone shot a 27-year-old in his back and left thigh in the 300 block of South Mozart Street about 8:45 p.m. Thursday. The 27-year-old had told the shooter moments earlier to stop urinating in front his girlfriend. The man left, returned on a scooter and opened fire. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
2 men shot in Garfield Park
Two men were shot about 3:42 p.m. Thursday on the 500 block of North Lawndale Avenue in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. Two men, both 20, were shot and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition. One was hit in the left shoulder and the other in the left thigh
Man shot in Gage Park
A man was shot in the 5600 block of South Western Avenue while he was in a car. He was driving south when someone in a Dodge Charger flashed gang sins and fired toward the man, hitting him in the head. He's in grave condition
3 people shot in Austin
In Austin, three people were shot as they stood outside on Leclaire Avenue north of Madison Street around 2:20 a.m. Thursday.
A 29-year-old man was shot in the right ankle and a 25-year-old woman was grazed in the arm. Both of them were taken to West Suburban Medical Center. A 25-year-old woman was shot in the neck and buttocks and was taken to Stroger Hospital.

A Lawndale shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. on the 1400 block of South Keeler Avenue.
A man described as being in his 20s was wounded and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed as in critical condition
2 men shot in Back of the Yards
A 46-year-old man was and a 30-year-old man, were shot about 4:30 p.m. in the 5400 block of South Bishop Street in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Both were taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The older man was shot in the right thigh and the younger in the buttocks.
 22-year-old man shot in Lawndale
In the 600 block of South Francisco Avenue in Lawndale a 22-year-old man was shot about 6 p.m. Someone in a dark van driving north on Francisco toward Harrison Street started shooting and the man was shot in the chest while diving for cover. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital by a relative.
25-year-old man shot in Englewood
A 25-year-old man was shot in the buttocks about 11:20 p.m. in the 6400 block of South Oakley Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Man shot in Woodlawn
A man, in his 30s, walked into the University of Chicago Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left knee. He had been shot about 11:30 p.m. in the 700 block of East 60th Street in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.
26-year-old man shot in Gresham
After midnight, a 26-year-old man was shot in the shoulder near 79th and Elizabeth streets in the Gresham neighborhood. Police said he'll survive. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with a wound to his shoulder.
Man shot in Austin
One man was shot about 12:35 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of North Pine Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood. The 31-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition with wounds to his left thigh and right ankle
17-year-old boy shot in Roseland
A person was shot in the arm in the 500 block of West 110th Street, police said. The 17-year-old boy was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center but was not cooperating with investigators
24-year-old shot in Humboldt Park
On the West Side, a 24-year-old was shot three times in his legs after someone chased him in a house in the 800 block of North Springfield Avenue. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital after the shooting, which happened about 9:45 p.m.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the face near the intersection of Adams Street and Laramie Avenue. He was shot before midnight and dropped off at Loretto Hospital
22-year-old man shot on Southwest Side
On the Southwest Side, a 22-year-old man standing near a van was shot in the back and taken to  Christ Medical Center in good condition. Someone approached him near the corner of St. Louis Avenue about 2:05 a.m.

23 year old man shot in Rogers Park
A man was wounded 8:40 p.m. Saturday in the 6600 block of North Ashland Avenue in the Rogers Park neighborhood. The man, 23, was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He's in serious condition
26-year-old shot in Woodlawn
A 26-year-old man was shot about 11:50 p.m. in the 6100 block of South Vernon Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. He was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital with a wound to his forearm.
18-year-old manshot in Morgan Park
In the Morgan Park neighborhood about 12:45 a.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg by someone who fired at least 10 times on Throop Street just south of 109th Street.The man was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital with a minor leg wound
Two men shot in Lawndale
Two men were shot about 3 a.m. in the 2700 block of West Harrison Street in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. A 23-year-old was shot in the right arm and a 20-year-old in the right knee; both were taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. They were on a sidewalk when someone in another group of people opened fire, hitting the two.

A man in his 20s walked into Stroger hospital with a gunshot wound to his left knee and right leg about 3:10 a.m. He had been shot in the 1200 block of West Washburne Avenue in the University Village / Little Italy neighborhood.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen in the 7800 block of South Langley Avenue in the Chatham neighborhood about 3:35 a.m. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center
39-year-old man  shot in Lawndale
In the 3800 block of West Grenshaw Street in the Lawndale neighborhood, a 39-year-old man was shot in the back and arm about 5:10 a.m. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition
20-year-old man  shot in Logan Square
A 20-year-old man was shot about  5:10 a.m. in the 3400 block of West North Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood. He walked into Norwegian-American Hospital with a wound to his arm.
Two people  shot in Pilsen
Two people were shot about 5:35 a.m. in the 1400 block of West 17th Street in the Pilsen neighborhood. A 32-year-old woman is at the University of Illinois Hospital with a gunshot wound to her buttocks and a 32-year-old man refused treatment for a graze wound to his left thigh. They were on a porch when someone walked up and started shooting.
42-year-old  shot in Englewood
Someone shot a man in Englewood about 6:30 a.m., according to the Chicago Fire Department. The 42-year-old was shot in the 5600 block of South Emerald Avenue and taken to Stroger hospitalin serious-to-critical condition
22-year-old man shot in Englewood
A 22-year-old man was shot multiple times in the head as he stood on a street corner in the  Englewood neighborhood. About 10:40 p.m., a gunman approached and opened fire at the corner of South Ashland Avenue and West 61st Street, striking the man with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
The man was taken in critical condition to Stroger hospital.
Man shot in Park Manor
At about 11:50 p.m. a male was shot in the foot in the 7400 block of South Langley Avenue in the Park Manor neighborhood. He was taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.

A 29-year-old man was shot about 10:45 p.m. while walking on the sidewalk in the 6100 block of South Throop Street in the Englewood neighborhood. A shooter approached and opened fire, striking the man in the back and the leg. He was taken to Stroger hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

2 shot, 1 shot dead in University Village

In a fatal shootings, three men were shot in a parking lot across the street from the headquarters of the UIC Police Department.
The shooting happened about 10:40 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Maxwell Street
All three men were taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The conditions of two of them, ages 19 and 21, were stabilized at the hospital.
The third man, 19-year-old Tytrell Jackson, was pronounced dead at 11:13 p.m

19 year old shot dead, 23 year old shot in University Village

At about 1:50 a.m., the 19-year-old and a 23-year-old man were shot while walking in the 1300 block of West Hastings Street.
The younger man, later identified as Akeem Manago, was struck multiple times and died shortly after the shooting at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
The 23-year-old man was shot in leg and was also taken to Stroger, where authorities listed him in good condition.
Police are seeking four males who are believed to have approached the two men from behind during the shooting, which happened in the University Village neighborhood.

40 year old man shot in Garfield Park
A man was shot as he tried to flee two robbers near Garfield Park on the West Side.
The robbers approached the 24-year-old man around 11:10 p.m. Tuesday at the corner of Homan Avenue and Monroe Street. He was shot in the knee as he ran off

The shooting occurred about 40 feet from a security camera. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital
Man shot in South Shore
A man was shot near 71st Street and Merrill Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood around midnight. He suffered a wound to his arm and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Police said he was not cooperating with investigators.

20 year old shot in University Village
A 20-year-old man was shot in the left thigh on Throop Street just south of Roosevelt Road around 7 p.m. Tuesday
19 year old shot in Austin
A 19-year-old was wounded in the 4800 block of West Fulton Street in the Austin neighborhood. Someone in a car shot the man after a "verbal altercation,". He was hit in the right side of his back and taken to West Suburban Medical Center.

 19-year-old and 37-year old shot in Austin
The 19-year-old and 37 year old in Austin were in a car in the 5000 block of West Madison Street when someone approached on foot and started shoot The pair drove to a “residence” in the 1500 block of North Long Avenue and police were called. The older man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with multiple gunshot wounds and the younger man, shot in the leg, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center.
 Man shot in Little Italy/University Village
A  man in his 30s was shot and found in the 1200 block of South Racine Avenue, outside the ABLA-Roberts Brooks Homes housing complex in the University Village / Little Italy neighborhood.Police responded to a single call of a person shot and found the man shot in the leg about 2:45 a.m.
56-year-old man shot in Galewood
On the Northwest Side about 10:45 p.m., a 56-year-old man was shot in the head in what police first believed to be an attempted suicide. He was shot in the 1800 block of North Natchez Avenue in the Galewood neighborhood. Detectives later determined that someone had shot the man, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said. He's at Loyola hospital
23-year-old man shot in Garfield Park
A 23-year-old man was shot in the leg and groin in the 3400 block of West Walnut Street just before 8 p.m. in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. He was on a porch when three men, one with a gun, approached and told him and one other person not to move.
They moved, and one of the three shot the 23-year-old, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and he’s in good condition.

 43-year-old man shot in Gresham
At about 9 p.m. a 43-year-old man was shot by another person inside a silver car in the 8500 block of South Hermitage Avenue in the Gresham neighborhood. He’s in stable condition at Little Company of Mary Hospital.

Shooting victim from early November dies

A 26-year-old Chicago man who was shot in early November while sitting in his car on the Near Southwest Side has died.
Michael Morgan, of the 1400 block of West 13th Street, died at 8:37 p.m. Saturday at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
Morgan was sitting in the driver's seat of a black Buick Regal about 3:29 a.m. Nov. 3 when a car pulled alongside and someone inside fired shots at the Regal, hitting Morgan in the left side of his neck.
The shooting occurred in the 1300 block of Loomis Street in the University Village/Little Italy neighborhood, about a block from where Morgan lived.

Six people were hurt, five seriously, in shootings on the South and West sides late Monday.
Four of the injured were hurt in a single shooting on the Far South Side, and all four were taken to local hospitals in serious-to-critical condition.
 The shooting happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. in the 9400 block of South Justine Street.

A male shooter opened fire, striking four males as they walked down the sidewalk.
A 15-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man were taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, a 17-year old man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and a 19-year-old man was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

The 15-year-old was shot in the abdomen, and the 17-year-old was shot in the chest.
The other two men were shot multiple times.
Police said the condition of each was stabilized at the hospital.
The shooting happened in the Brainerd neighborhood.
About 9:05 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the head in the West Side's University Village neighborhood.
The man was taken to Stroger in serious condition from the 1200 block of West Washburne Avenue.
Earlier Monday evening, a 37-year-old man was shot in the leg and back in the South Side's Gresham neighborhood.
The shooting happened in the 700 block of West 81st Street about 5:50 p.m.. The man was taken to an area hospital, where his condition was stabilized
Update:
About 11:50 p.m., a 21-year-old was shot in an attempted robbery in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.
The victim was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 8200 block of South Marshfield Avenue when two males approached on foot and announced a robbery.
Shortly after, one or both of the assailants shot into the vehicle, striking the man in the lower abdomen.
The man was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital and later transferred to Advocate Christ, where his condition was stabilized

A man in a car with two other people was shot three times when someone in another car opened fire this morning in the University Village neighborhood.
The shooting occurred around 5 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Union Avenue. The victim's companions drove him to St. Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center.
The 29-year-old man was shot in the arm, back and hand, she said. Police described the trio as uncooperative.

Police warn University Village residents of strong-arm robberies

Chicago police issued an alert today warning people in the University Village neighborhood of several strong-arm robberies that occurred last month.
Police said they are searching for three teenage males who are responsible for the incidents which happened in late August.
In each case the suspects grabbed hold of the victims and took property by force, police said. In one case the victim was beaten.
The first incident happened Aug. 26 on the 1000 Block of South Racine Avenue at approximately 2:30 a.m. The second happened on Aug. 28 on the 1300 Block of South Blue Island Avenue at approximately 9:20 a.m..
While the descriptions of the suspects vary, police said all three are described as black males.
In addition, one of the suspects is being described as a 16-year-old, with a dark brown complexion. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs about 150 pounds and has dreadlocks and a tattoo on his upper right arm.
The second teen is 18 years old, about 6 feet, 175 pounds, also with a dark brown complexion. He also had dreadlocks but with light tips.
The third teen is 13 years old, about 5 feet 2 inches tall and 120 pounds. He had a light brown complexion and had a fade hair style.

A young man was killed near the University of Illinois at Chicago's Near West Side campus.
The fatal shooting occurred at about 9:45 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of South Laflin Street in University Village.
