Woman found stabbed to death on Northwest Side

A 24-year-old woman found stabbed to death inside her Northwest Side apartment Monday night has been identified.
An autopsy today found Sarah Kresilova, of the 6500 block of West Addison Street in the Dunning neighborhood, died of multiple stab wounds and possibly strangulation. Her death was ruled a homicide.
About 10:30 p.m. Monday, police found a woman with multiple stab wounds in her bedroom
Police said the woman had stab wounds to her abdomen and chest. She died on the scene.
Preliminary information said the stabbing was possibly domestic-related

Forest Park man charged in NW Side attacks

A 41-year-old Forest Park man has been charged in two attacks against female victims on the Northwest Side earlier this month after a community alert helped authorities to identify the suspect.
Antonio Lamont Nettles, 41, of the 7500 block of South Harvard in Forest Park, is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated robbery, kidnapping  force or threat, and attempted kidnapping
The separate attacks took place between about 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on April 13, both in the area of Belmont and Oak Park Avenues.
In one attack, Nettles approached a female on the street and stated he had a knife before sexually assaulting her.
In the second attack, Nettles approached another female
and implied he had a knife, attempting to pull the victim from an entryway into an alley, police said. He robbed the victim of cash and knocked her to the ground before striking her and fleeing
During the investigation, Area North detectives issued a community alert containing a description of the attacker and a sketch .
After the alert was posted on the Facebook page of 41st Ward Ald. Mary O’Connor, police got information allowing them to identify a suspect. Nettles later surrendered to police and was charged

Police warn of 2 Northwest Side attacks

Police are warning the public following two separate assaults that happened this morning in the same area on Northwest Side near the city’s border with Elmwood Park.
The attacks, one of which was a sexual assault, both occurred between 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Belmont and Oak Park avenues.
The offender ran up to a lone female walking and tried to force her to go into an unknown vehicle with him. Then, while implying he had a knife or a gun but not showing one, he sexually assaulted her.
In the second incident, he hit another victim in the face with his fist and foot.
The man is described as being black, between the ages of 28 and 35, between 5-foot-10 to 6-foot, and about 170 pounds. He has short black hair, a medium complexion, chipped or cropped teeth and silver earrings in both ears.
He was last seen wearing all black clothing and black shoes and was seen driving a black vehicle

28 year old man shot in Dunning

A man was shot and seriously wounded in the Dunning neighborhood this afternoon, possibly after visiting the grave of a man originally shot more than a decade ago.
The 28-year-old man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition following the shooting in the 3700 block of North Narragansett Avenue about 2:40 p.m.
Two people, members of a rival gang, are being questioned in the shooting and another is being sought.
The man originally walked into Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and chest, and then was transferred Illinois Masonic.
The victim was in the back seat of a car when another vehicle pulled up and someone from the other vehicle began shooting at the car he was in, hitting the man. Soon after the shooting, Grand Central District officers pulled over a vehicle not far from the scene of the shooting, and took two from the vehicle into custody,

Naperville police say Chicago man was growing pot

Naperville police who arrested a Chicago man on pot charges found more than $1 million of marijuana in an indoor-growing operation when they searched his home this week.
The arrest comes just two days after they conducted an apparently unrelated methamphetamine bust of nearly the same value.
 In the latest incident, officers arrested Ronald Sanchez, 32, of the 3200 block of North Oleander Avenue, just after 4 p.m. Thursday for unlawful delivery of cannabis.
Upon searching his Chicago home, police found what they called “a sophisticated cannabis grow operation” that included more than 300 cannabis plants and several plastic bins with the processed drug. They estimate the drugs recovered have a street value of about $1.2 million.
 Sanchez is facing a charge of unlawful delivery of cannabis in DuPage County, and charges of production of cannabis plants and possession with intent to deliver in Cook County.

Son accused of stabbing mom to death says Satan did it

A man claiming to be possessed by Satan stabbed his 84-year-old mother to death in the home they shared on Chicago’s Northwest Side.

Joseph Nerone, 54, was splattered with blood when he was arrested Friday. He was later charged with the murder of his mother, Elaine Nerone.

On Sunday, Nerone’s attorney from the public defender’s office said he has mental health problems, and Cook County Judge James Brown ordered him sent initially to the jail’s hospital for a psychological examination. Brown ordered that Nerone be held without bail.
Assistant State’s Attorney Terry Clancy said this was not the first time Nerone has attributed alleged violent behavior to a spiritual being.
He was convicted of battery in April 2011 after punching and scratching a neighbor while declaring, “I’m God, and it’s your time,” . He was declared unfit for trial and then ruled fit before he was sentenced to 18 months of court supervision contingent on good behavior, according to court records and prosecutors.
His mother’s body was discovered in the home in the Dunning neighborhood Friday morning after a woman called police to say she couldn’t contact Nerone to pick him up for a meeting with his probation officer. Emergency crews arrived and entered to find Elaine Nerone on the bathroom floor, dead of multiple stab wounds to the head and back.
Her son was bloody and marked by scrapes and cuts consistent with a struggle, prosecutors said, and police found several bloody knives in the home in the 3800 block of North Normandy Avenue.
Under questioning by detectives, Nerone said Satan had killed his mother and that the devil was inside him

An 83-year-old woman was found fatally stabbed this morning inside of her Northwest Side home.
Police were called to home in the 3800 block of North Normandy Avenue in the Dunning neighborhood around 9 a.m..
The victim's sister asked police to do a well-being check and when they arrived, officers found the woman fatally stabbed.
