22-year-old man shot in Little Village

About 9:35 p.m. in the 2400 block of South Harding Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood, a 22-year-old man was shot in the buttocks and is in stable condition at Mount Sinai Hospital. Police said he was outside when someone fired shots from inside a dark van.

23-year-old woman shot in Little Village

About 1:10 a.m., a 23-year-old woman drove herself to St. Anthony Hospital after being shot in the arm. The woman told police she had been shot while sitting in a vehicle at a stoplight in the 2800 block of West 31st Street in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side. The woman did not provide police with a description of the shooter or the vehicle the shooter was traveling in.

Assistant soccer coach charged with assaulting player, 14

A 30-year-old assistant youth soccer coach is charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy he recruited to play on two soccer teams.
Hector Morales, of the 2600 block of West 25th Street in the Little Village neighborhood, allegedly picked up the boy Friday and drove him to his soccer game, then bought beer on the way home that he gave to the youth.
Morales and the boy were drinking beer when the youth coach allegedly began fondling the boy and performed oral sex on him in the 2500 block of West Cermak Road.
“Defendant told the victim that this was their secret” . Morales then purchased soda and candy for the boy at a nearby Wal-Mart and dropped him off at home.
The boy immediately told a family member what happened and went to a hospital.
Morales was arrested Saturday when he went to the teen’s home to pick him up for another soccer game

Little Village man held in sexual assault of girl, 4

A Little Village man sexually assaulted a 4-year-old girl over several months in 2006, showing her pornographic films and asking her to copy what she sawprosecutors.
Patricio Garcia, 49, was ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bond today in connection with the attacks, which prosecutors said the girl reported earlier this month. The girl is cousins with Garcia, who babysat her at the time of the incidents.
Between June 2006 and September 2006, Garcia showed the girl pornographic movies and told her, "You need to do this for me or you'll see what happens" . Prosecutors said Garcia made the girl engage in sexual acts with him during that time.
About a week ago, the girl told a social worker at her school about the assaults.
After he was arrested, Garcia told authorities he "must've been possessed" when he sexually assaulted the girl nine years ago.
Garcia, of the 2300 block of South Central Park Avenue, faces four charges of sexual assault, sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a child

28-year-old man shot in Little Village

A 28-year-old man was shot about 12:10 a.m. 3300 block of West 30th Street in the Little Village neighborhood.
Police were called to the block for a report of a person shot and found the man with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Boy, 16, dies day after Little Village shooting

A 16-year-old boy shot in the Little Village neighborhood this week died late Wednesday.
Christopher Ramirez was shot in the 2600 block of South Trumbull Avenue, about two blocks north of his home, around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday
Ramirez was pronounced dead just before midnight Wednesday at Mount Sinai Hospital

16 year old boy shot in Little Village

A 16 year old boy was critically wounded on Trumbull Avenue just north of 27th Street around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Little Village neighborhood.
The boy suffered a head wound and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition

Man tries to kidnap 14-year-old in Little Village

Someone tried to kidnap a 14-year-old girl in the Little Village neighborhood Tuesday night. 
The girl was walking toward a store in the 3500 block of West Cermak Road about 5:30 p.m. when someone tried to talk to her. 
When she tried to walk away the man grabbed her from behind and tried to take her away while telling the girl to come with him. 
She ran inside the store and her assailant fled down Drake Avenue. 
The alert described the attacker as a Hispanic man between the ages of 17 and 21, about 130 pounds and between 5-feet-3-inches and 5-feet-5-inches tall. 
He had a narrow face with pointed chin and nose and medium complexion skin.

Charges filed in Little Village stabbing death

A  19-year-old man has been charged in the stabbing death of a woman Wednesday in the Little Village neighborhood.
Aaron Mejia, 19, of the 2200 block of South Sacramento Avenue on the Southwest Side, was charged with murder.
Mejia and the victim, identified as 27-year-old Rosa Maria Perez, began arguing Wednesday at the Sacramento Avenue address and during the course of the argument, Mejia stabbed her. Mejia was arrested Saturday.
Police responded to a call of a person dead at the Sacramento address about 10 a.m. Wednesday and spoke with three people who found the body lying on the floor of a bedroom closet with blood smeared on her neck, hands, and on the nearby wall.
One of the three, Mejia's neighbor, told police that about midnight, Mejia showed up at his home in the 2500 block of North Spaulding Avenue, told him he was "involved in a domestic" with the victim, and that "something had happened".
Mejia remained at the house where he slept for several hours but he was gone by the time the neighbor had woken up in the morning.
Perez, also of the Sacramento address, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:15 a.m.

Woman found stabbed to death in Little Village

A woman was found stabbed to death this morning at a home in the Little Village neighborhood on the West Side.
Officers responded to a call of an unresponsive woman at a house on the 2200 block of South Sacramento Avenue around 10 a.m.
The woman was later identified as Rosa Maria Perez, 27, of the Sacramento address, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:15 a.m.
The woman suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene

17-year-old boy shot dead in Little Village


A 17-year-old boy died Friday after being shot a day earlier in the Southwest Side's Little Village neighborhood. Javier Gonzalez, of the 3100 block of South Komensky Avenue, was declared dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 1:30 p.m.
Police found Gonzalez unresponsive about 7:50 p.m. Thursday, in the 3000 block of South Karlov Avenue. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the head and arm

2 fetuses found in jars in Little Village neighborhood- Santeria in full bloom

Two fetuses were found in jars on the steps of an apartment building in the Little Village neighborhood.
The fetuses were human and "not viable," according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Authorities haven't been able to determine if they might have been medical specimens.
A man walking home Wednesday morning in the 2500 block of South Harding Avenue found the jars inside a plastic bag, authorities said. Each jar was filled with a clear liquid.
One jar with a red lid also had three plastic roses inside, and the other, with a yellow lid, had two plastic roses inside.
The man who found the jars knocked on the door where he found the jars after calling police and a woman inside said she knew nothing about them

Man held on $1M bail in shooting near Little Village Schools

An 18-year-old man and two juveniles were arrested and charged with a shooting Monday that left a girl injured near several elementary schools in the Little Village neighborhood.
Ignacio Nuci of the 2300 block of South Hoyne Avenue was charged with aggravated battery and discharge of a firearm and attempted murder.
Jose Quinones, 16, was charged as an adult and is expected in bond court on Wednesday, prosecutors said. A 15-year-old boy was charged as a juvenile and was before a juvenile court judge who ordered the boy held in custody.
The shooting happened at about 8:35 a.m. in the 2100 block of South California Avenue.
A 17-year-old girl was walking with another person when several people began shooting. The woman was struck with numerous gunshots to her upper left leg. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was listed in good condition.
After the shooting, three people were seen running east in an alley. They were located nearby and returned to the scene where they were identified

18 year old woman shot in Little Village

One person is in custody after a teen was shot near an elementary school in the Little Village neighborhood this morning.
The shooting happened at about 8:35 a.m. in the 2100 block of South California Avenue.
The victim, believed to be a female around 18, was shot in the upper thigh and hip area and was taken to a hospital where her condition was stabilized.
After the shooting, three people were seen running east in an alley. One person of interest was taken into custody and was being questioned.
The shooting happened near the Hammond Elementary School, 2819 W. 21st Place. It is also several blocks from another elementary school, the Saucedo Scholastic Academy, 2850 W. 24th Blvd.

29-year-old man shot in Little Village

A 29-year-old bartender was shot outside a Little Village bar and police chased a suspect two blocks before catching him. 
The man shot is in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital with wounds to his abdomen and groin - he had been shot at a bar at the corner of 24th Street and Washtenaw Avenue about 11:40 p.m. 
Ogden District officers patrolling Washtenaw Avenue heard the gunfire and saw the man running from the scene toward a car waiting behind the bar.
They gave chase down an alley and through yards and caught the man near 23rd and Rockwell streets. Police also found a gun and its magazine along the chase route

18-year-old man and 15-year-old boy shot in Little Village
A  man and a teenage boy were shot in the Little Village neighborhood this evening.
The attack took place in the 4100 block of West 24th Place about 6:30 p.m.
One victim, an 18-year-old man, was shot in the chest and both legs, while a 15-year-old boy was shot in one leg. Both were being treated at Mount Sinai Hospital, where their conditions had been stabilized.
The two walked into Mount Sinai for treatment. They told responding officers they had been on the street when they heard gunshots and felt pain
20-year-old woman shot in Avalon Park
A 20-year-old woman was shot in a house near Avalon Park this evening. The shooting occurred in the 7500 block of St. Lawrence Avenue at about 8:30 p.m.
The woman was shot in the hand and a bullet grazed her face, but did not hit her.
The woman was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in good condition
2 men shot in South Chicago
Two men were shot and wounded in a drive-by attack in the South Chicago neighborhood this morning.
A 19-year-old man was wounded in the right shoulder and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center for treatment, while a 20-year-old suffered a graze wound to the head in the attack in the 8200 block of South Baltimore Avenue.
The attack took place as the two were standing outside about 10:20 a.m., Estrada said. Someone in a maroon pickup truck drove past and opened fire, hitting the two.
The younger man's condition was stabilized at Christ Medical Center, while the older man did not require hospitalization.
16, 18, 21, 22 year old shot in Washington Park
An incident left four young men wounded on a city Safe Passage route. 
The four were shot in the 6100 block of South Indiana Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood about 11:10 p.m.
Someone inside a dark car fired shots toward a group standing on a sidewalk, hitting the four. A 16-year-old boy and 18-year-old man were taken to the University of Chicago Hospital, both in stable condition. A 21-year-old was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital & Healthcare Center, also in good condition. 
The most seriously wounded, a 22-year-old man, was shot in the left calf and upper back and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. He's in critical condition.
16-year-old boy in shot in South Shore
An attack wounded a 16-year-old boy in the nearby South Shore neighborhood. Someone shot the boy and ditched a small revolver with a taped handle in a nearby empty lot. The boy was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with wounds to his shoulder and buttocks.
19-year-old man shot in South Shore
At about 3 a.m. a 19-year-old man sitting in the front seat of a van was shot in the left buttocks. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center from the 8400 block of South Burnham Avenue, where he had been shot.
19-year-old man shot in Garfield Park
At 12:30 a.m. near Cicero Avenue and Monroe Street in the city's West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, a 19-year-old man was shot in the foot, police said. He was in good condition

26-year-old man shot in Austin
A man was shot about 1 a.m. in the 5000 block of West Superior Street in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side. The 26-year-old was standing in a group and told police he heard shots and felt pain. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition
24-year-old man  shot in Heart of Chicago
At about 3:45 a.m. a 24-year-old man was shot in the leg while he stood with a group of people outside a home in the 1700 block of West 19th Street in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the South Side. He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital
14 year old boy shot in Lawndale
A  boy in his teens was shot about 5 a.m. Saturday in the 4000 block of West Grenshaw Street in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. He was hit in the hand and foot and is in stable condition at Mount Sinai Hospital
17-year-old boy and 18-year-old man shot in  Little Village
A 17-year-old boy walked up to an 18-year-old man with a shotgun Friday night in the Little Village neighborhood, pointed the weapon toward his face and squeezed the trigger.
Within minutes, someone else who had seen the shooting shot the 17-year-old in the head and both young men shot are in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Police said the two were found lying near each other in the 2600 block of South Ridgeway Avenue about 10:10 p.m. Both identify with conflicting gangs and were shot on a street painted with graffiti from those gangs, which use Ridgeway as a border.
19-year-old man shot in Austin
The latest shooting happened about 1 p.m. near the intersection of North and Leamington avenues in the city's North Austin neighborhood.
Preliminary reports said a 19-year-old man suffered wounds to his chest, arm and foot. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in serious condition
17 year old shot in Brainerd
Shortly after 12 p.m., paramedics responded to a shooting on the 9100 block South Elizabeth Street at Brainerd Park in the Brainerd neighborhood.
Paramedics transported a teen in serious-to-critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Chicago Police Department News Affairs said the shooting happened on the 1200 block of West 91st Street and said the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body.
36-year-old man shot in Princeton Park
At about 2:10 a.m. a 36-year-old man was shot in the 200 block of West 94th Street in the Princeton Park neighborhood on the South Side. He was shot multiple times and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
46 year old man shot in Humboldt Park
A man, 46, was shot about 2:09 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Kildare Avenue in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Gaines said. The man, who suffered a wound to his right forearm and a graze wound to his buttocks, told police he had been shot in a crossfire while sitting in a car. He then tried to drive away from the scene in the car, but it ran out of gas at Division Street and Karlov Avenue and he called police. Bullets from the shooting also damaged a house in that area
Three men shot in Lawndale
Three men were listed in critical condition after being shot about 12:45 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Lawndale Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood. One was shot in the stomach, one in the back and one in the thigh and hand. Two 29-year-old men were being treated at Mount Sinai; a 24-year-old man was being treated at Stroger hospital.
2 men 18 and 30 shot in West Pullman
In  the 500 block of West 115th Street about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, two men, 18 and 30, were shot in the back as they rode bicycles. They told police they heard shots and felt pain and were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition
Man shot in West Ridge
A man was shot about 10 p.m. in the 6000 block of North Sacramento Avenue. He made it to a Walgreens near Lincoln Avenue and Peterson Avenue and collapsed there, where authorities found him. He was shot in the side and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in serious condition.
26-year-old man shot in Humboldt Park
At about 4:15 a.m. Sunday, a 26-year-old man showed up at Norwegian-American Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his right thigh which he said happened in the 1500 block of North Talman Avenue in the city’s Humboldt Park neighborhood. No one is in custody for the shooting and the 26-year-old was not cooperating with detectives.
44-year-old man shot in Hegewich
A 44-year-old man was shot about 1:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of East 122nd Street on the Far South Side. The man was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
 23-year-old woman shot in Austin
At about 12 a.m., a 23-year-old woman was shot in the back in the 1100 block of North Mason Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said. The woman was struck in the back and taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where she was listed in good condition

A 28-year-old Florida man who fatally shot his estranged wife and their 5-year-old daughter in his wife's Little Village home before turning the gun on himself has died.

Mom and daughter 5, killed in Little Village

A 28-year-old man fatally shot his wife and their 5-year-old daughter in his wife's Little Village apartment before turning the gun on himself early this morning.
The shooter, who did not live with his wife or daughter, survived the gunshot wound and remained in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
At about 12:15 a.m., police responded to a call of three people shot in the 2800 block of South Kildare Avenue.
The woman and her daughter died on the scene. Kelly Mariel Coca and Karla Valeria Eguez, respectively.
The shooter was Eguez's father, who was married to Coca but did not live in Chicago. He was listed in critical condition at Mount Sinai this morning with a gunshot wound to the head.

21-year-old man Roseland
A 21-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound on the 11800 block of South Michigan Avenue.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ medical center in serious-to-critical condition

16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man  shot in Belmont Cragin
At about 7:20 p.m., a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were shot on the 2300 block of North Melvina Avenue in the Belmont Central neighborhood.
The younger victim was shot in the arm and leg and the older man sustained a graze wound to his ankle
 27-year-old man shot in Austin
A 27-year-old man was shot in the 300 block of South Cicero Avenue about 3:30 a.m. He was hit in the abdomen and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital
18-year-old man  shot in Garfield Park
At about 2:55 a.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in the 3900 block of West Madison Street in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder
Two women, 18 and 19,  shot in Englewood
Two women, 18 and 19, were shot in the 5600 block of South Ada Street in the Englewood neighborhood about 2:50 a.m. The older woman was shot in the arm and the younger was grazed in the hand. They told police they “heard shots and felt pain” as they were leaving a party on the block. Both were taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center.
33-year-old man shot in Archer Heights
At about 2 a.m., someone shot a 33-year-old man in his upper back in the 5100 block of South Kostner Avenue in the Archer Heights neighborhood. He was in the back yard with others when the shooter approached on foot and opened fire from the alley. He fled south down the alley. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and his condition stabilized
 22-year-old man shot in Garfield Park
A 22-year-old man walked into Rush Hospital and Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg about 1:50 a.m. He told police he had been shot in the 200 block of South Central Park Avenue in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. He was later transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and his condition was stabilized
 17-year-old boy  shot in Humboldt Park
A 17-year-old boy was shot in the Humboldt Park neighborhood about 11:20 p.m. He was walking with about a group when someone inside a passing dark car started shooting, Greer said. The boy was hit in the chest and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
 17-year-old boy shot in Englewood
 A 17-year-old boy was shot after getting into an argument with his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend in the Englewood neighborhood. The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. in the 7300 block of South Green Street. The boy, who was shot in the groin, was taken to Christ hospital in serious condition.
Male shot in Little Village
The  shooting happened near the intersection of 27th Street and Kedvale Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood. A male whose age wasn't immediately available was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds
51-year-old man shot in Lawndale
At about 3:25 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Douglas Boulevard in the Lawndale neighborhood, a 51-year-old man who was standing outside was shot once in each thigh. He drove himself to Loretto Hospital andvis in stable condition
27-year-old man  shot in Little Village
A 27-year-old man was shot in the foot in the 2400 block of South Washtenaw Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood. He drove himself to Mount Sinai Hospital. He’s in stable condition.
22-year-old man shot in Chicago Lawn
Police pulled over a speeding car on Garfield Boulevard at Racine Avenue in Englewood and found a 22-year-old man inside who had been shot in the arm. The man had been shot in the 5900 block of South Maplewood Avenue in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood about 2:55 a.m. He’s at Stroger hospital in stable condition, police said. Someone shot him when he was getting into his car
23-year-old man shot in Grand Crossing
At about 2:15 a.m., a man was shot near 71st Street and Rhodes Avenue in the Grand Crossing neighborhood. The 23-year-old heard shots and felt painand was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a thigh wound.
24-year-old man shot in Bronzeville
A 24-year-old man drove to a gas station at 47th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive after someone shot him in the hand in the 4800 block of South Prairie Avenue about 12:55 a.m. The man was taken from the gas station to Stroger hospital.
 20-year-old man shot in Bronzeville during robbery
Someone dropped a 20-year-old man off at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center with a gunshot wound about 12:10 a.m. Two men approached the man in the 4000 block of South Prairie Avenue, demanded money and started beating him. The man tried to flee and was shot once in the leg.
17-year-old boy shot in South Deering
On the Far South Side, 17-year-old boy was shot near 107th Street and Hoxie Avenue in the South Deering neighborhood about 8:15 p.m. The boy was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition with a wound to the right arm
