White Trash Intoxicated man passes out on street with son, 4 (Where's the arrest and charge for child endangerment?)
A passerby noticed at least one pair of feet sticking out from underneath a
blanket after Krokson fell asleep with his son in a parking lot at Elston and
Hamlin avenues, and the witness called 911 about 2:30 a.m..
The 4-year-old boy was “shaking due to exposure,’’ according to a police report, which said the temperature was 51 degrees and the boy was wearing a button-down shirt with a sweatshirt, pants and shoes.
He was immediately placed in a squad car to keep warm and officers tried to awaken Krokson, who was “incoherent, highly intoxicated, and unaware of his surroundings’’.
Father and son were taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital where they were both listed in good and “stable” condition.
When police reached the child's mother by cell phone she told officers they had all been at family party at Kimball and Elston avenues – about two blocks from their residence -- when Krokson decided to walk home and the boy decided to go with him.
She followed them in her vehicle but said because of the heavy fog, she was unable to find them, so she went home.
When she did not find them there, she began to drive around and look for them again, but eventually went back home a second time.
Police notified the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
