A 25-year-old man has been charged this evening with fatally stabbing a man in the
North Center neighborhood who was found on his front porch.
Christopher Shoji of the 2000 block of West Warner Avenue is
charged with first-degree murder and a misdemeanor count of cannabis production.
He is charged with fatally stabbing Solomon Morales at
Morales' home on the 4200 block of North Damen Avenue.
Morales, 24, was pronounced dead at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday at Advocate
Illinois Masonic Medical Center after he was found stabbed several
times.
Police were called to the Damen Avenue home about 4:10 a.m. after
Morales' mother discovered him on her front porch, stabbed in the left chest,
left flank and stomach.
By the time police arrived, Morales
was apparently too disoriented to give any description of his attacker, where
the attack happened or what happened to leave him injured

Police seek witnesses to fatal North Side stabbing
Police are trying to figure out how a North Center man ended up fatally
stabbed on his front porch early this morning.
The 24-year-old man was declared dead at 6:40 a.m. at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center after he was found stabbed several times in the 4200 block of North Damen Avenue this morning.
He was identified as Solomon Morales of the Damen Avenue address where he was stabbed

Sketch released of man who tried to abduct 4th grader
Police released updated information and a sketch of a man who is suspected of trying to abduct a fourth-grade boy on May 22 at Bell Elementary School in the North Center neighborhood.
The man approached the boy in the playground of the school at 3730 N. Oakley Ave. around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 22.
The man said he was there to take the boy home because the child's mother was sleeping. The child ran away and found his mother, and the incident was reported to school employees and police. The man was seen walking west on Grace Street
updated information in a police News Affairs statement released today indicated he is between the ages of 25 and 35 and is between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10.The man was also wearing gold braces on his teeth.
He was further described as being black with a thin build, with brown eyes, short, black hair and a dark complexion. He was wearing blue jeans, a stained black T-shirt, black and blue slide-on sandals, and a blue Cubs baseball cap.

Man shot while driving in North Center
A 29-year-old man was shot while he was driving early this morning on the Northwest Side.
The shooting happened shortly after 5 a.m. on the 3400 block of North Western Avenue in the city's North Center neighborhood.
The man and two passengers in his vehicle were northbound on Western Avenue when a dark-colored vehicle pulled alongside.
An occupant of the dark-colored vehicle opened fire and a bullet went through the rear passenger side window. That bullet struck the driver in the right side of his back.
The man drove himself to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where his condition was stabilized..
The passengers of his vehicle, a woman in her 20s and a 30-year-old man,were not injured

Motorcyclist dies after hitting car in North Center
A motorcyclist died after hitting a parked car in the North Center neighborhood on the North Side early Wednesday morning.
The 33-year-old man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The motorcycle hit a gray two-door car parked in the 2200 block of West Montrose Avenue.

Police release video of man suspected in North Side store robberies
Chicago Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who has
robbed six stores and gas stations in the Town Hall police district early in the
morning in the last two months.
Area North detectives on Tuesday released video footage of the man robbing a store in the 5000 block of North Western Avenue about 1:20 a.m. on Sept. 7.
The man has has been robbing the stores and gas stations beween about 1 a.m. and 4:15 a.m., police said. In each robbery, the man has confronted a clerk near the cash register, pushed him out of the way or restrained him, and stolen cash from the cash register, detectives said in an alert.
In some of the robberies, the man has implied he had a gun.
In the video, the man can be seen pulling cash out of the cash register at a liquor store, and walking around the aisles.
The man in the video is wearing a white T-shirt, as well as dark pants and shoes. The robber is described as a black man, between the ages of 20 and 25, with short black hair and a dark complexion. He stands between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-2 and weighs between 200 and 220 pounds.

Firefighters respond to 12 dumpster fires in 4 hours
Chicago firefighters this morning scrambled to the
scene of a dozen separate dumpster fires in the North
Center and Lakeview
neighborhoods on the North Side.
No injuries were reported in any of the fires that
occurred across the two neighborhoods between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 2:53 a.m.

Man shot in North center
Another man was found shot in an alley in the 3800 block of North Francisco Avenue about 2:30 p.m.
The man, believed to be in his 40s, was shot in the stomach and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
Police took one person into custody in connection with the North Francisco shooting, and found a gun that may have been used in the shooting.
