Girl, 14, and 2 women sexually assaulted on Far South Side
Police are looking for a man who went on a three-hour rampage on the Far South
Side this morning, sexually assaulting a woman and her grown daughter in their
home, then breaking into a house five blocks away and trying to attack a
16-year-old girl as she slept, and then grabbing a 14-year-old girl off the
street and dragging her at knife-point into a backyard.
The attacks started around 4 a.m. when a man broke into a home in the 10300 block of South Emerald Avenue in the Fernwood neighborhood and assaulted a 40-year-old woman and her 22-year-old daughter.
The man apparently used a garbage can from the alley to climb into the kitchen window.
The man walked down the hall and entered the mother's room and put a knife to her throat, asking if anyone else was in the house.
"Just my daughter," the mother replied. " 'Call her here,' " the man said. ."
When the daughter entered the room, the man still had the knife to the mother's throat. "If you don't want to die, you better sit down," . "That's when he began sexually assaulting them."
The man then covered them with sheets and stole their credit cards, money and phones before fleeing. The mother ran next door and had a neighbor call police.
About an hour later, the same man slipped through the window of a home in the 10000 block of South Green Street. He entered a room where a 16-year-old girl was sleeping, but her father spotted him and chased him off. The father called police, who said the girl was not injured.
The man then went down the block and grabbed a 14-year-old girl who was walking to a bus stop on her way to school. A boy, who also was getting ready for school, heard her screaming as she was forced into a backyard. He alerted a woman who lived in the house and she ran out the back door with a shovel and chased the attacker away.
He dropped a knife as he fled, and it was later identified as the knife stolen in the first home.
The suspect was described as a black man in his 20s with a dark complexion, about 6 feet tall, 150 pounds, shoulder-length dreadlocks and wearing a dark gray or black T-shirt, blue jeans, and black gym shoes

16-year-old boy and wounding a man in the Fernwood neighborhood on the Far South
Side.
Michael O. Johnson, 23, of the 300 block of West 106th Place, is charged with murder, attempted murder and aggravated battery.

A witness told police she "heard a warning" about someone near the gangway and she turned and saw someone in a dark hoodie pointing a gun toward the porch. She dove into the house as Maurice was hit in the abdomen and the man was grazed in the back.
