A man pushed a 24-year-old woman to the ground in the Mayfair neighborhood on the Northwest Side and sexually assaulted her Monday.
The man, believed to be 20 to 25 years old, approached the woman from behind as she walked down the sidewalk in the 4500 block of West Agatite Avenue around 9:55 p.m. Monday.
The man grabbed her neck and pushed her to the ground, then tried to remove her clothes. The woman screamed, and the attacker struck her in the face and ran off
The woman ran to the 4600 block of West Montrose Avenue and was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital for lacerations to the face and knee.
Police are searching for the attacker, described as Hispanic, about 5-feet-9 inches to 5-feet-10, 130 to 150 pounds, with black hair. He was last seen wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt

Man fondled girl, 6, in Northwest Side store
Police are searching for a man they believe fondled a 6-year-old girl as the girl and her father shoppedin the Northwest Side's Mayfair neighborhood Monday.
The incident happened about 3:15 p.m. Monday, in a store in the 4600 block of North Elston Avenue.
The suspect approached the girl and fondled her groin area, prompting the girl to scream and alert her father. The girl's father chased after the suspect, who fled the store, crossed Elston and ran southbound onto Kildare Avenue
The man was last seen in the west alley of Elston.
Authorities describe the offender as white or Hispanic, between 30 and 40 years old, clean-shaven, with short dark hair, 5'6'' to 5'8'' and 165 to 180 lbs.
He was wearing a black and red baseball cap, possibly with a Chicago Blackhawks or Cleveland Indians logo), with a zippered grey hooded sweatshirt and blue pants

12-year-old robs schoolmate with replica gun
Investigators were questioning a 12-year-old boy who robbed a fellow student in a boy's bathroom at a North Mayfair school Friday afternoon, using a BB gun that was a replica of a handgun.
The robbery took place about 2:40 p.m. at Palmer Elementary School, 5051 N. Kenneth Ave. One juvenile was in police custody on suspicion of robbing another juvenile.
The 12-year-old robbed a 13-year-old of $5.
The younger boy caught the older in a restroom in the school's annex building and put the replica gun to his chest, according to a police report. The attacker told the older boy to "give me your money," and took the money.
The victim knew who the robber was, and told school officials and police. When a police officer questioned the younger boy, he admitted he had a black plastic BB gun, and the officer found it and confiscated it.

Man charged after fire killS woman, injured daughter
Police have charged a man with murder after a Wednesday night fire killed a 35-year-old woman and injured her 6-year-old daughter..
According to the report, Gregorio Carmona, 35, poured gasoline on Claudia Martinez before lighting the fatal fire that claimed her life.
Carmona, of the 4800 block of North Kenneth Avenue, is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated arson.
An autopsy Friday determined Martinez died from thermal injuries that came from the apartment fire and her death was ruled a homicide.
Martinez suffered severe burns in the fire Wednesday night in the basement of the two-flat where she lived in the 4800 block of North Kenneth Avenue.
The fire started about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, and Martinez and a 6-year-old girl were taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital following the fire.
Martinez was transferred to Loyola University Medical Center's burn unit, where she was declared dead just before 6 a.m. Thursday.
Carmona poured gasoline on Martinez and lit her on fire, causing her death. Gasoline was later discovered on the deceased woman's clothing.
Carmona was arrested after being released from Swedish Covenant Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation from the blaze. Carmona initially told police he'd been awakened by smoke and the smell of gasoline. He told police he picked up the girl and fled. He told police he tried to go back inside to help the woman but said there was too much smoke

Death of woman in Northwest Side fire ruled a homicide

2 men shot in Mayfair
Two men in their 20s were shot about 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the Northwest Side neighborhood of Mayfair. They were shot in the 4000 block of West Montrose Avenue. The pair drove to Our Lady of the Resurrection Hospital.One of the two, 21, is in critical condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and the other, 23, was transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. He's in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the ear.
Two others were inside a car with the men when someone drove alongside theirs and opened fire

Two men were shot in the 3800 block of South California Avenue about 12:15 a.m. Saturday. Someone dropped them off at Mount Sinai Hospital, a few miles north of the Brighton Park crime scene on California Avenue.Police said the pair are expected to survive. 18-year-old woman shot in Sheridan Park
An 18-year-old woman suffered a graze wound about 9:30 p.m. Friday night in the 4600 block of North Malden Avenue in the Sheridan Park neighborhood on the North Side. She was walking in a group when someone got out of a small light-colored car, shot, and got back in. The car fled west on Wilson Avenue
21 year old man shot in Uptown
A man, 21, was shot in the buttocks in the 4700 block of North Sheridan Avenue about 5:35 p.m. That happened in the Uptown neighborhood about four blocks from where the 18-year-old woman was shot hours later. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
2 shot in Garfield Park
A man, 32 and a man 21, walked into Sacred Heart Hospital about 9:30 p.m. Friday with a gunshot wounds they had suffered at about 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Homan and Chicago Avenues in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Two men stabbed outside club on Northwest Side
Two men were stabbed during a fight on the Northwest Side late Thursday
night.
One of the men, 26, was stabbed in the arm and torso and was in serious condition at Advocate Masonic Medical Center. The other man, 28, was stabbed in the back.
The two were outside the Fantasy Lounge at the corner of Montrose and Elston avenues in the Mayfair neighborhood when they were stabbed
