Man shot by Police in Park Manor

Just past midnight, a probationary police officer shot a man who raised a gun toward him after he and other officers saw him firing shots near Marquette Road and Rhodes Avenue in the Park Manor neighborhood.
Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Patrick Camden said the man was celebrating New Year's Eve by firing shots even though he was on home monitoring for a conviction for unlawful use of a weapon.
“You gotta wonder, home monitoring for UUW. And he’s out with a gun and police saw him and he’s not gonna drop the gun," Camden said. "Typical New Year’s Eve (stuff)."
Police said the probationary officer, riding with a supervisor, saw the man firing the gun. They chased him and the man pointed a gun toward the officers. Officers opened fire and the man was hit at least once in the thigh. He was taken in good condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

A man was shot multiple times and seriously injured this afternoon on the South Side in the city's Woodlawn neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 4:18 p.m. on the 6100 block of South Kimbark Avenue.
The man, 20, was reportedly shot several times in his leg. He was taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital

19-year-old In Golden Gate Park

On city's Far South Side about 7:15 p.m. on the 13100 block of South Langley Avenue, a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg and reportedly in good condition

33-year-old man shot during robbery in Austin

In  a shooting in the Austin neighborhood on the city's West Side, a 33-year-old man was shot during a robbery about 12:05 a.m.
The victim was on a sidewalk when he was confronted by three attackers who pulled a handgun and robbed the man of cash before they shot him in the mouth in the 5500 block of West Huron Street.
The victim’s brother took him to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park but he was transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where his condition had stabilized

24-year-old man shot in West Pullman

In  the West Pullman neighborhood at 11:30 p.m. a 24-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the forearm in the 11500 block of South Racine Avenue. The victim declined to be taken to a hospital after the Far South Side shooting

15-year-old boy shot in Logan Square

At 10 p.m. in the Logan Square neighborhood a 15-year-old boy was walking in an alley in the 3200 block of West Wabansia Avenue when several males shouted gang slogans at him before firing shots, hitting the boy in the left leg. He was taken to Stroger where his condition had stabilized, and the shooting is gang related

24-year-old man shot in Park Manor

A  24-year-old man was shot Saturday night in the Park Manor neighborhood on the city's South Side. Someone shot the man in the buttocks in the 400 block of East 73^rd Street about 9:30 p.m.

Year later, shooting at gang funeral claims second victim - 2012 Chicago Violence Scoreboard updated

 A shooting at a gang funeral on the South Side last year has claimed a second victim.
Deonte Ousley, 27, died Wednesday, almost a year after he and another man were shot outside St. Columbanus Church, where a funeral was being held for a gang member killed a week earlier

The second person shot, Sherman Miller, 21, died not long after the shooting. Ousley, of the 5900 block of South Damen Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood, was pronounced dead about 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Ousley and Miller had been attending the funeral of James Holman, 32, when they were shot on Nov. 26 at the church in the Park Manor neighborhood. All three were identified by police as Gangster Disciples.

22-year-old man shot in Fuller Park

A 22-year-old man was shot in the foot Tuesday night in the Fuller Park neighborhood on the South Side.  The shooting happened about 8:30 p.m. in the 4300 block of South Wentworth Avenue. 
He walked into Provident Hospital of Cook County with the wound.

41-year-old man shot in South Chicago

About 1:25 a.m., someone in a gray sedan opened fire in the 8900 block of South Escanaba Avenue.
A 41-year-old man sitting in a parked vehicle was struck in the right side and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was in serious but stable condition

25-year-old man shot in Park Manor

Someone in a sedan fired shots in the 7500 block of South Michigan Avenue, striking a 25-year-old man standing nearby.
The man was hit twice in the abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

18 year old and 26 year old shot in Chatham

In an attack, in the East Chatham neighborhood, a 26-year-old man was shot in the leg and an 18-year-old man was shot in the hand around 10:15 a.m. in the 1000 block of East 80th Street.
The older man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital, while the other was taken to Jackson Park Hospital. Their conditions had been stabilized

19 year old man shot in South Shore

At about 11:30 a.m. in the 7200 block of South Coles Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood, a 19-year-old man was shot in the left leg and suffered a graze wound to his left foot. The man's condition had been stabilized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

2 teens shot in Grand Crossing

Two teens were shot about 8:10 p.m. Thursday in the 7300 block of South Dorchester Avenue in the Grand Crossing neighborhood. A 15-year-old boy was shot in the back and a 16-year-old was shot in the leg. The two heard shots and felt pain.
The older teen was taken to Comer Children's Hospital with a back wound and was stable. The younger teen was taken to Jackson Park Hospital with a leg wound and was in good condition

19-year-old man shot in Park Manor

A  19-year-old man was shot in the 400 block of East 69th Street. He was near a bus stop when someone on foot shot him in the buttocks, ran north and ditched a handgun next to a vacant apartment building on King Drive.
The 19-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital.

25-year-old man shot in Portage Park

About 2 a.m. Friday, a 25-year-old man was shot just north of Irving Park Road on Long Avenue, just outside Portage Park. He was standing with a woman when two men across the street started firing toward him.
He was hit in the arm and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.

In a shooting early this morning, an 18-year-old man was shot about 1:20 a.m. in the 12600 block of South Stewart Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side. The man, who was shot in both legs, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

30-year-old man shot in Lawndale

At about 1:20 a.m., a 30-year-old man was shot as he walked out of a vehicle in the 1200 block of South Kedvale Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and listed in serious condition.

41-year-old man shot in Gold Coast

Later this morning, about 4 a.m., a 41-year-old man was shot in the 0-100 block of East Chestnut Street in the Gold Coast neighborhood on the Near North Side. The shooter fled in a white car, and the 41-year-old was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition. Police said the shooting happened during an argument over a parking space.

14 year old boy shot dead in Park Manor

A teenage boy has been shot to death in the Park Manor neighborhood. The teen was found shot in the back in the 6900 block of South Vernon Avenue about 1:35 p.m. Preliminary reports indicate the boy is 15.

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the 1500 block of West Superior Street in the West Town neighborhood.
The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition. The teen told police he heard shots and then felt pain.

14-year-old boy shot in Gresham

A 14-year-old boy was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital by a relative with a gunshot wound to the leg.
The boy was shot in the 8600 block of South Carpenter Street and was in good condition

39-year-old woman shot in South Shore

A 39-year-old woman was shot about 1:20 a.m. in the 7800 block of South Constance Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood. She was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition. Police said she was in an argument with another man just before the shooting.

36-year-old man shot in Park Manor

A 36-year-old man in stable condition at Saint Bernard Hospital & Healthcare Center with a wound to his thigh. He was shot about 3:30 a.m. near 67th Street and Rhodes Avenue in the Park Manor neighborhood.

2 shot in Chatham

The shooting happened in the Chatham neighborhood on Langley Avenue. Shortly after 4 p.m., police and paramedics responded to the shooting on the 7800 block of South Langley Avenue.
Two men, ages 29 and 22 were found shot. One suffered a wound to his stomach area and the other was shot in his leg. They were taken in serious-to-critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center 

18-year-old man shot in Washington Park

A 18-year-old man was shot in the city's Parkway Gardens neighborhood. That shooting happened on the 6400 block of South King Drive.
A gunman shot the victim in his leg then fled on foot. The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition was stabilized.

11-year-old girl shot in Hermosa

An 11-year-old girl who was shot in her side while sitting on the front steps of her home in the Hermosa neighborhood
The girl, who is about 11, was sitting on the steps of her home in the 2300 block of North Kostner Avenue with family members about 4 a.m. when the shooter, possibly a woman, fired four or five times and struck her in the side.
The girl suffered a through and through wound to her side, and was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital

Person shot in Gage Park

At  about 4 a.m. on the Southwest Side's Gage Park neighborhood, another person was shot. It happened in the 5600 block of South Sacramento Avenue. That person, of an unknown age and gender, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair to serious condition

16-year-old boy shot in Garfield Park

A 16-year-old boy told police he was standing outside in a vacant lot when he heard shots and felt pain about 12:20 a.m. in the 4000 block of West Wilcox Street.
The boy was shot in the chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition

53-year-old man shot in Back of the Yards

A  53-year-old man is in serious condition at Stroger Hospital after he was shot about 11:20 p.m. Saturday night in the 4500 block of South McDowell Avenue in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side. The man was approached by another man who shot him once in the left side of his torso before fleeing on foot

2 men shot in Washington Park

At about 3:20 a.m. in the 5600 block of South Wabash Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side, two men, ages 29 and 28, were standing on a sidewalk when another male approached and opened fire. The two were both taken to Stroger hospital, where their conditions have stabilized. Both suffered knee injuries -- the 29-year-old in the left knee and the 28-year-old in the right knee.

 37-year-old man shot in Longwood Manor

A 37-year-old man told police that he was shot about 5:50 a.m. in the 9500 block of South State Street in the Longwood Manor neighborhood on the South Side. The man, who was shot in the right shoulder and left arm, transported himself to St. Bernard Hospital.

3 men shot in West Town

In  a shooting, about 5:30 a.m. in the 300 block of South Green Street in the West Town neighborhood, three men were wounded, according to News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.
A 22-year man was hit in the torso and was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition and a 23-year-old man was shot in the leg and was taken to Mount Sinai, where his condition has stabilized. A third man, age 21, was hit in the forearm and took himself to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, where he is in good condition.

Man shot in Humboldt Park

At  about 7 p.m. a male was shot on the 900 block of North Central Park in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
The victim, whose age was not available, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and took himself to Norwegian-American Hospital where his condition had stabilized

14 year old boy shot in Woodlawn

Sunday night about 9 p.m. in the city's West Woodlawn neighborhood, a boy was shot.
Police said the victim was shot in the leg in the 6000 block of East 62nd Street and the victim, a juvenile, was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital in serious to critical condition.
The 14-year-old victim was riding a bicycle with several companions when they were approached by two other people on bikes and one of them pulled a gun and fired five rounds, hitting the boy in the left calf

28-year-old man shot in Lawndale

Sunday night about 11:45 p.m. in the city's Lawndale neighborhood, a 28-year-old man was shot in the neck in the 1400 block of South Tripp Avenue.
After being shot, the man walked to the 1500 block of South Kolin Avenue, where emergency crews responded, police said. The man, who lives in that area, suffered an apparent graze wound and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital

15-year-old girl, 16-year-old boy and man shot in Park Manor

A  15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were shot as they left a basketball game around 11:30 p.m. just east of Martin Luther King Drive in the Park Manor neighborhood. A 49-year-old man was also shot.
The 16-year-old was in critical condition with a chest wound at Stroger Hospital and the 15-year-old was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition, suffering from a leg wound. The man walked into the University of Chicago Hospital with a gunshot wound to the groin and also in good condition.
The three were shot by at least one gunman who fired from a nearby alley. 

Two 15-year-old boys shot in Bronzeville

Two 15-year-old boys were shot in the 3800 block of South Vincennes Avenue in the Ida B. Wells/Darrow Homes neighborhood. One was taken to Comer Children's Hospital with a wound to the leg and the other taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center with a graze wound to the shoulder

 27-year-old man shot in South Chicago

Around 9:25 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in the 8500 block of South Oglesby Avenue in the South Chicago neighborhood. He was in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with wounds to the neck and chest

52-year-old man shot in west Pullman

A  52-year-old man was wounded around 1:20 a.m. Thursday in the West Pullman neighborhood. The man was shot in the 11500 block of South State Street and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition with a wound to the leg.

21 year old man shot in West Pullman

A man was shot and critically wounded in the West Pullman neighborhood, but apparently was driven by private car to a hospital instead of taken via ambulance.
The man, 21, walked into Roseland Hospital about 9:25 a.m., after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Police had to check the area for a crime scene, determining that the man likely was shot about 9:15 a.m. near 115th Street and Wentworth Avenue

Two people were wounded this afternoon in a shooting on the South Side in the city's Brainerd neighborhood.
The shooting happened shortly after 1 p.m. on the 9000 block of South Marshfield Avenue.
A male victim was shot in the buttocks and a woman, 34, was shot in the leg and buttocks

At about 10:40 p.m. a man was shot in the 12600 block of South Eggleston Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood. He was shot in the abdomen and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Someone shot a 18-year-old in the leg and back in the Canaryville neighborhood about 11:30 p.m. The man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County from the 4300 block of South Union Avenue.

In the Rosemoor neighborhood about 10 p.m., a 16-year-old girl was shot in the leg in the 10100 block of South Prairie Avenue. She was outside with friends when someone across the street fired a gun toward her group

19-year-old man shot in Lawndale

 19-year-old man walked into Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest about 9:30 p.m. He had been shot in the 2600 block of West 21st Place and dropped off at the hospital by a friend. He was in a group when he heard shots and felt pain

 15-year-old boy, 22-year-old man shot in Englewood

Two people were shot in Englewood about 9:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of west 73rd Street. A 15-year-old boy was hit in the leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and a 22-year-old was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital  with a wound to his buttocks. Police say they were on a porch when someone opened fire from a passing green car.

2 men shot in Calumet Heights

A shooting in the Calumet Heights neighborhood about 7:15 p.m. left two men wounded. The pair walked into Mercy Hospital & Medical Center - a 25-year-old with a wound to the wrist and a 35-year-old with a wound to the shoulder. Both are in good condition.

23-year-old man shot in Marquette Park

About 3:15 p.m., a 23-year-old man walked into Holy Cross Hospital with a gunshot wound to the wrist. He had been shot in the 7100 block of South Kedzie Avenue.

About 3:07 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 5900 block of South Spaulding Avenue. He was stabilized at a local hospital

16 year old girl and man shot in Austin

Two people were shot in the South Austin neighborhood about 11:05 p.m. in the 4800 block of West Walton Street. They were shot near the corner of Cicero Avenue and Walton Street and taken to West Suburban Medical Center in good condition. A 16-year-old girl was shot in the leg and taken in an ambulance and a 21-year-old man showed up at the same hospital with a leg wound

An Indiana woman has died following a traffic accident in the Park Manor neighborhood Saturday afternoon.
Luwanda Hethington, 48, was declared dead at 5:28 p.m. at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County following the accident in the 600 block of East 68th Street,

2 shot in Gresham

In a third shooting, a 21-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were shot about 3:45 a.m. in the 1400 block of West 84th Street in the Gresham neighborhood. Police believe the two were sitting in a park when someone opened fire, striking the man in the leg and the woman in the stomach.
Both people were taken to Advocate Christ, where their conditions were stabilized.

2 shot in University Village

At about 6:15 p.m., someone shot a 21-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman in the 1300 block of West Washburn Avenue in the city's University Village neighborhood.
Both were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The woman suffered a graze wound to the head and was taken in good condition to University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago. The man was taken in critical condition to Stroger,

In a  shooting at 6:12 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Loomis Street, a 23-year-old man was shot and critically wounded, said Langford, The man was also taken in critical condition to Stroger.

17-year-old boy shot in West Pullman

At about 6:20 p.m. in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, a 17-year-old boy apparently accidentally shot himself in the groin in the 11600 block of South Wentworth Avenue.

The driver of the car saw a dark-colored SUV pass by and someone started shooting. The girl was hit in the buttocks and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in good condition

A 72-year-old man was shot in a robbery at a dry cleaner shop in the Park Manor neighborhood Monday afternoon.
Masked men robbed a shop in the 200 block of East 69th Street just before 12:30 p.m.
The man was shot in the upper leg during the armed robbery and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where his condition was stabilized.
The address where the robbery took place, 219 E. 69th Street, is a dry cleaner.
Police did not have detailed descriptions of the men who robbed the shop

36-year-old man shot dead in Park Manor

A 36-year-old man was fatally wounded this afternoon in a shooting in the city's Park Manor neighborhood.
That shooting happened about 12:19 p.m. on the 7300 block of South Wabash Avenue.
Police said the man was dead at the scene

Man shot while trying to flee armed robber

A 21-year-old man was shot as he tried to escape an armed robber in the Park Manor neighborhood early this morning,.
About 1 a.m., the assailant approached the man in the 6900 block of South Eberhart Avenue and attempted to rob him.
The man tried to run away but was shot in the foot. He was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

1 dead, 4 wounded in South Side shooting

A woman was killed and four other people were wounded early this morning in a drive-by shooting in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side.
Around 2:30 a.m., a car carrying five people was near the intersection of 73rd Street and King Drive when another car pulled alongside.
A person inside the second car opened fire, striking the five in the other car
Marissa Boyd-Stangley, 19, of the 7400 block of South Eberhart Avenue, suffered wounds to her head and body and was pronounced dead at 6:05 a.m. at the morgue.
A 20-year-old man suffered wounds to his chest and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious-to-critical condition.
Another 20-year-old man suffered a wound to his shoulder and was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where his condition was stabilized.
An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were both shot in the hand and were taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center

Two men were shot about 3 a.m. in the 2700 block of West Harrison Street in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. A 23-year-old was shot in the right arm and a 20-year-old in the right knee; both were taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. They were on a sidewalk when someone in another group of people opened fire, hitting the two.

A man in his 20s walked into Stroger hospital with a gunshot wound to his left knee and right leg about 3:10 a.m. He had been shot in the 1200 block of West Washburne Avenue in the University Village / Little Italy neighborhood.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen in the 7800 block of South Langley Avenue in the Chatham neighborhood about 3:35 a.m. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center

In the 3800 block of West Grenshaw Street in the Lawndale neighborhood, a 39-year-old man was shot in the back and arm about 5:10 a.m. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition

A 20-year-old man was shot about  5:10 a.m. in the 3400 block of West North Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood. He walked into Norwegian-American Hospital with a wound to his arm.

Two people  shot in Pilsen

Two people were shot about 5:35 a.m. in the 1400 block of West 17th Street in the Pilsen neighborhood. A 32-year-old woman is at the University of Illinois Hospital with a gunshot wound to her buttocks and a 32-year-old man refused treatment for a graze wound to his left thigh. They were on a porch when someone walked up and started shooting.

42-year-old  shot in Englewood

Someone shot a man in Englewood about 6:30 a.m., according to the Chicago Fire Department. The 42-year-old was shot in the 5600 block of South Emerald Avenue and taken to Stroger hospitalin serious-to-critical condition

22-year-old man shot in Englewood

A 22-year-old man was shot multiple times in the head as he stood on a street corner in the  Englewood neighborhood. About 10:40 p.m., a gunman approached and opened fire at the corner of South Ashland Avenue and West 61st Street, striking the man with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
The man was taken in critical condition to Stroger hospital.

A  15-year-old boy was shot around 10:15 p.m. Thursday in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side and taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where his condition was stabilized
He was shot in the arm and ankle by someone who may have fired from a dark four-door car

17 year old girl, 24 year old man shot in Park Manor

A teen was wounded in the Park Manor neighborhood around 11:25 p.m. A 17-year-old girl and a 24-year-old man were shot while standing in front of a house in the 6800 block of South Wabash Avenue.
The girl was shot in the chest and back and was in fair condition at Stroger Hospital. The man was shot in the chest and grazed in the arm and was at the same hospital in fair condition.

Man shot in Englewood

In the Englewood neighborhood around 10:20 p.m., a man in his 40s was shot in the leg in the 6500 block of South Morgan Street. Police said his condition was stable.

30-year-old man shot in Brighton Park

A 30-year-old man was dropped off at Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the thigh after someone shot him in the 4500 block of South Sawyer Avenue in the Brighton Park neighborhood he was walking in the block when someone drove by shouting gang slogans and opened fire. A friend drove him to the hospital.

24 year old man shot in Englewood

A man, 24, drove himself to Holy Cross Hospital after he was shot in both legs. He was in critical condition there. Two men jumped out of a dark-colored minivan in the 6600 block of South Hoyne Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood about 1:30 a.m.

Man shot in Lawndale

Earlier Thursday, a man was shot in the 3100 block of West Douglas Boulevard in the Lawndale neighborhood.

37-year-old woman shot in Chatham

About 6:30 p.m., a 37-year-old woman was shot in the ankle in the 8100 block of South Drexel Avenue and was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition
