16-year-old boy shot in Gresham

A 16-year-old boy was wounded Thursday afternoon in the Gresham neighborhood. The shooting happened about 3:10 p.m. on the 7700 block of South Green Street
Preliminary reports said the boy walked past a group and was shot in the stomach area and the hand. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.

Teen killed man after questioning where he was from

Egged on by others, a teen fatally shot a man Thursday afternoon on the South Side after demanding to know where he was from.
Iman Frison, 18, was ordered held without bail Saturday in connection with the slaying of Andre Hunter, 19, about 2:40 p.m. Thursday in the Winneconna Parkway neighborhood.
While walking home from school near the 7700 block of South Stewart Avenue, Hunter and a witness were approached from behind by Frison. Frison pointed a revolver at Hunter's chest and asked him where he and the witness were from.
After Hunter moved the gun out of his way, other people surrounding Frison encouraged him to shoot Hunter. Frison shot Hunter five times, including three times after the victim had fallen and the gun had jammed.
Hunter, of the 7900 block of South Princeton Avenue, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and pronounced dead about an hour lateroffice.
A witness alerted police soon after the shooting. An officer drove after Frison and the others before getting out and running after them, noticing Frison was grabbing his waistband as if he had a weapon.
Kwilos said a gun fell from Frison as he fled, and his hand later tested positive for gunshot residue. Police confiscated a large-caliber revolver that came from his waistband.

Frison, of the 1700 block of East 72nd Street, has been charged with first-degree murder

19-year-old man shot dead in Gresham

A 19-year-old man was shot about 2:40 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Stewart Street in the Winneconna Parkway neighborhood.
Andre Hunter, of the 7900 block of South Princeton Avenue, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and pronounced dead at 3:34 p.m.

Police said Hunter was found unresponsive on the sidewalk after being shot multiple times.

41-year-old man shot in Gresham

About 3:45 a.m. in the Gresham neighborhood, a 41-year-old man was shot in the 1500 block of West 79th Street. The man was standing in an alley when shots rang out and he realized he was struck.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.

Man accused of pouring boiling water on boy, 15

A man is accused of pouring a pot of boiling water on a 15-year-old boy, causing second-degree burns to the boy's face and neck.
Terrell Michael Johnson, 19, of the 7600 block of King Drive in the Chatham neighborhood, has been charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
The 15-year-old boy had been attending a sleep-over with friends in the 7500 block of South Peoria Street in the Gresham neighborhood on Nov. 29 when Johnson poured the water on his head.
The boy suffered second-degree burns to his face and neck but hid the injuries from his mother for two days because he thought she would be angry

Woman charged with DUI after striking cop on Ashland

A Chicago woman was charged with a DUI Sunday after she allegedly ran her car into a uniformed police officer on South Ashland Avenue.
Yamica Horton, 26, of the 7300 block of South Union Avenue, was arrested Sunday evening around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of 78th Street and Ashland Avenue after she failed to yield to a pedestrian crossing the street--the pedestrian was a Chicago police officer. The officer, who was not hospitalized but reported "soreness throughout his body" after the incident, , was on foot patrol when the Horton's car struck him.
Horton refused numerous orders from the officer to step out of her carand when she was interviewed her eyes were bloodshot and glossy. Officers searching her car saw a half-full "T.G.I. Friday's Margarita" drink cup in the center console.

27-year-old man shot in Gresham

A  man shot while sitting in a living room.
About midnight, the 27-year-old man was sitting inside a home in the 1400 block of East 76th Street when someone outside fired shots through a window.
A bullet grazed the man's forehead, and a family member took him to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition

2 men shot in Gresham

Two men were hurt Tuesday night when a gunman dressed in black opened fire, striking both men in the city's Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.
The shooting happened 8 p.m. in the 8300 block of South Carpenter Street.
The victims, ages 23 and 24, were walking down the street when the gunman approached and shot at both men.
The 23-year-old was struck in the buttocks while the second man was hit in the left leg. Both victims were taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where their conditions stabilized.

No bail for suspect in Gresham slaying

A judge denied bail today for a 20-year-old South Side man who is accused in a fatal shooting earlier this month in the city's Gresham neighborhood.
Terrence Ghani, of the 1400 block of West 80th Street, has been charged with murder and attempted murder.  Ghani was arrested after he was identified as the person who fired a handgun at the victim in the 8700 block of South Loomis Street on Nov. 6.
Phillip Curtis was on his way to his grandmother's home around 4:30 p.m. that day when two gunmen stepped from a gangway at the Loomis Street address and opened fire.
Curtis, of the 8600 block of South Marshfield Avenue, was pronounced dead at 5:25 p.m. Nov. 6 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the medical examiner's office. An autopsy Nov. 7 determined Curtis died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide

Man, 62, thrown from balcony during robbery attempt

A 62-year-old man was thrown from a third-floor balcony in the Gresham neighborhood during an attempted robbery.
The man suffered a fractured skull and was in critical condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
He was walking up the stairs at a building in the 7700 block of South Halsted Street about 10:55 p.m. Tuesday when he crossed paths with the robber, who threw him over the railing after trying to rob him.
Police said the attacker had tried to rob a woman in the same building moments earlier. She was able to get her purse back.
No one was in custody.

48-year-old man shot on the Mag Mile
The 48-year-old man was in his vehicle when he was shot in the back in the 100 block of East Superior Street about 11 p.m.
The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition had stabilized
Police said the Frisco, Texas man, a guest in a hotel in the 200 block East Walton Street, told officers he was driving a rented 2014 Jeep Patriot at Superior Street and Michigan Avenue when he heard his driver’s side rear window shatter. At first, he thought someone knocked out his window and he fled, going northbound on Michigan Avenue.
The hotel valet parked the vehicle and once he got into his room, he found his t-shirt was “wet and full of blood’’ and realized he was shot on the left side of his chest and his left rear shoulder.  He notified the front desk clerk and police and an ambulance came to the hotel.
24-year-old shot in Galewood
At about 6:15 p.m. in the Galewood neighborhood on the Northwest Side, a 24-year-old male suffered a graze wound to the head during another shooting in the 2100 block of North Mulligan Avenue
23 year old man shot in Chatham
A man shot in the chest about 11:50 p.m. in the city's East Chatham neighborhood.
The victim, 23, was standing on a sidewalk in the 900 block of East 82nd Street when two males approached him on foot and fired shots at him. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where’ his condition had stabilized

In the city’s Gresham neighborhood about 8:30 p.m. in the 8900 block of South Union Avenue, someone shot a male in the leg. The victim, whose age was not available, was taken in serious to critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn
2 shot in West Pullman
On the Far South Side’s West Pullman neighborhood about 8:20 p.m., someone shot two males in 300 block of West 119th Street. One victim suffered a graze wound to the abdomen while the second was shot in the right arm
49-year-old man shot during robbery attempt in South Deering
About 4:15 a.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of East 107th Street in the Trumbull Park neighborhood on the Far South Side, a 49-year-old man was shot in the leg during an armed robbery attempt, police said. The victim was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital where his condition was stabilized.

20-year-old man shot dead in Gresham

A  20-year-old man was critically injured after being shot in the Gresham neighborhood.
The shooting happened at 4:30 p.m. on the 8700 block of South Loomis Avenue.
The man was shot in the abdomen and neck and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The man was pronounced dead at Christ Medical Center at 5:25 p.m.

Shootings in Chicago November 4, 2013

Offender shot by victim during robbery
A man suspected of robbery who was shot by his intended victim was arrested overnight in Hammond.
The attack happened in the 2900 block of West Devon Avenue in the West Rogers Park neighborhood about 5:40 p.m.
The robbery suspect, 25, was taken into custody in the Indiana town of about 80,000 people just over the border from Chicago. He had walked into Franciscan St. Margaret Health hospital seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.
Also not clear is whether the robbery suspect was shot with his own weapon during a struggle or whether his victim used a different weapon. A 23-year-old man was also pistol whipped during the incident and taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston
22-year-old shot during robbery in Austin
About 8:40 p.m., a 22-year-old was shot in the Austin neighborhood during a robbery. He walked into Loretto Hospital and told police he had been shot near the intersection of Jackson and Lotus avenues. He’s in good condition
28-year-old man shot in Lawndale
At about 7:13 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot on the 1600 block of South Homan Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had stabilized
24-year-old man shot in Austin
At 6:33 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot on the 800 block of North Lavergne in the South Austin neighborhood, Hernandez said. The man was shot in the neck and was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital
21-year-old man shot in Bronzeville
At  6:09 p.m., a 21-year-old man was also critically injured in a shooting. That shooting happened on the 5000 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue in the Bronzeville neighborhood. The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment.
23-year-old man shot in Gresham
The shooting happened at 5:06 p.m. on the 8700 block of South Racine Avenue in the Gresham neighborhood. A 23-year-old man was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center

25-year-old man shot dead in Gresham

A 25-year-old man was killed in the Gresham neighborhood about 9:45 p.m. Thursday. His friends dropped him off at Little Company of Mary Hospital after he had been shot in the 8600 block of South Morgan Street. He had a shoulder wound and died at the hospital about 11:15 p.m.

2 shot in Rogers Park
 Friday morning, two people were shot in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on the Far North Side. A 36-year-old man was grazed in the abdomen and a woman the same age was grazed in the arm. The man was taken to St. Francis Hospital in good condition and the woman was treated at the scene
Man shot after bringing paintball gun to gun fight
In the Gresham neighborhood, a man who was hit with a paintball gun fired a real gun and wounded a 21-year-old man. The victim was taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center with a wound to the shoulder
Police said the victim was firing the paintball gun in the 7800 block of South Emerald Avenue when he was shot. Officers took two paintball guns into evidence.
Man shot in Englewood
A man was shot around 12:30 a.m. today in the 1500 block of West 57th Street, in the Englewood neighborhood. The 39-year-old man suffered wounds to his chest, torso and leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital.
25-year-old man shot in Roseland
Someone shot a 25-year-old man on 116th Street just west of Parnell Avenue about 11:20 p.m. Thursday. He was described by police as uncooperative and was taken to Roseland Hospital with a wound to his arm.
15-year-old girl shot in Austin
In the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, a 15-year-old girl was shot in the hand and taken to nearby Loretto Hospital. She was standing on the corner talking with a group of people when shots rang out and she felt pain. The shooting may have been a drive-by
 18-year-old man shot in Gresham
Around 11 a.m. Thursday in the Gresham neighborhood, an 18-year-old was shot in the right forearm. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and told police he heard shots and felt pain.

Girl, 14, sexually assaulted behind abandoned building on South Side

Police issued a community alert this afternoon warning about a man who dragged a 14-year-old girl behind an abandoned and sexually assaulted her in the city's Gresham neighborhood.
About 8 a.m. Monday, the girl was walking to a bus stop near the 8700 block of South Halsted Street when she was approached my a man who asked for change. When she said she didn't have any change to spare, he dragged her behind an abandoned building where she was sexually assaulted.
The man fled the scene, and the girl went to school where she told school officials what happened.
The man was described as black with a dark complexion and about 19-years-old. He is about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a husky build. His fingernails were excessively bitten down to the skin.
The attacker was wearing a black skull cap and a black lower half ski mask, and a red jacket with blue and white stripes down the sleeves. He also was wearing dark blue True Religion jeans and white Air Force One gym shoes

Instagramming robber caught by police: Prosecutors

A Gresham man was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with armed robbery after police officers identified him as the man accused of robbing a clothing maker he met on Instagram.
Devontae Watkins, 21, of the 1200 block of West 81st Street, allegedly made a plan with a clothing designer from Calumet City to buy some of her products after he saw them posted on Instagram. He contacted the woman through his Instagram account and they agreed to meet on Sept. 11.
That day, the woman drove to meet Watkins, who climbed into the car to look at a bag she was carrying full of pants, belts, and baseball caps, among other items. Then Watkins brandished a knife with a four-inch blade and demanded the woman give him all of the clothing items while an unknown co-offender walked toward her car holding a gun.
Watkins was identified by police after the woman pointed them to a photo of him she found on his Instagram account.

Man found fatally stabbed in South Side alley

A man believed to be in his 20s was found this morning lying dead in an alley with apparent lacerations to his throat in the city's Gresham neighborhood.
Shortly before 7:30 a.m., officers were alerted to an alley on the 7600 block of South Carpenter Street.
A man was found with apparent lacerations to his throat.
Officials have opened a homicide investigation

Man, 22, shot by police officer during chase

A Chicago police officer shot a 22-year-old man in the elbow during a foot pursuit in the South Side's Gresham neighborhood Monday night.
About 9:30 p.m., police responded to a call of a man with a gun in the 1300 block of West 76th Street, Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden said. When officers arrived on the scene, they spotted a group of people standing on a corner, he said.
A man standing in the group began running, and uniformed police officers gave chase into a fenced area bordered by nearby row homes, Camden said.
During the chase, the man turned toward police with a gun his hand and an officer fired in self-defense, Camden said.
The man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition, Camden said. Police found a semiautomatic handgun at the scene
