Man charged in '09 double homicide in Albany Park

Authorities have charged a 23-year-old man in connection with the 2009 slayings of a man and woman in the Northwest Side's Albany Park neighborhood.
Samuel Parsons-Salas, of the 3800 block of North Nordica Avenue, was arrested Friday and charged Saturday with two counts of first-degree murder.
The charges are in connection with the shooting deaths of Alex Santiago, 24, and his girlfriend Angelina Escobar, 19, in the 3500 block of West Sunnyside Avenue about 1 a.m. on Sept. 21, 2009.
Parsons-Salas is the second person charged in the case. In January of 2011, Christopher Doehring was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of armed robery and two counts of home invasion. Authorities believe the pair entered the victims' apartment and made off with several possessions after the shootings.

17-year-old boy shot dead in Albany Park

A 17-year-old boy was dead on this scene this morning gunned down in what police said was a gang-related incident on the Northwest Side.
The 17-year-old was standing on a sidewalk at 1:20 a.m. in the 3700 block of West Lawrence Avenue when two males on foot confronted him and shot him in the upper back. The boy was dead on the scene and the attackers fled.

Man sexually abused 6-year-old at thrift shop

A Buena Park man charged with sexually abusing a 6-year-old boy in a resale shop this week had been arrested in July for public indecency at another store but the charge was dropped.
In the latest incident, Milton Contreras, 40, is accused of forcing the boy to inappropriately touch him while the boy was shopping with his grandparents at a Salvation Army thrift store in the Albany Park neighborhood.
The boy and his grandparents were shopping at the store at 3301 W. Montrose Avenue about 7:20 p.m. Monday when the boy walked away to return something he wasn’t going to buy. The boy tried to get around Contreras in an aisle, but Contreras would not let the boy by unless he touched him.
When the boy refused , Contreras exposed himself and grabbed the boy’s hand and forced him.
The boy ran to his grandmother and told her what happened. A store clerk found out what had happened, and the boy pointed Contreras out to the clerk.
Contreras fled but the clerk took a photograph of his vehicle, including its license plate, and Chicago police found that the vehicle was registered to Contreras. Contreras was arrested on Wednesday.
The boy and the clerk identified Contreras, both in photographic lineups and a physical lineup.
On July 20, Contreras was arrested on a public indecency charge after he allegedly performed a sexual act at a store in the 7600 block of South Cicero Avenue. The charge was dropped in August

Teen charged in shooting outside Roosevelt High School

Charges have been filed against an 18-year-old man accused of shooting a 15-year-old in the leg during a robbery outside Roosevelt High School and then hiding the gun in a 9-year-old’s backpack.
Kevin Murchison, of the 4700 block of South Greenwood Avenue in the Kenwood neighborhood, is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, unlawful use of a weapon near a school, child endangerment and attempted armed robbery.
Police say Murchison tried to rob the 15-year-old outside Roosevelt High School on the Northwest Side about 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The boy was wounded in the thigh and taken to St. Francis Hospital in good condition.
Murchison “displayed a gun” before a struggle ensued and the gun went off. Murchison and the 9-year-old who was with him took off running but police caught the two nearby.
Police found the gun in the boy's backpack. The boy was questioned but later released to his mother without being charged.
The shooting occurred as classes were being let out at the school at 3436 W. Wilson Avenue.

Robber hides gun in 10-year-old's backpack

A robber who shot a 15-year-old boy outside Roosevelt High School on the Northwest Side hid his gun inside the backpack of a 10-year-old child as he fled.
The robber was arrested and the gun recovered from the child's backpack. Charges were pending against the suspect. Police said the 10-year-old was also questioned but was later released to his mother.

Boy, 15, shot during robbery outside Roosevelt High School
A  15-year-old boy was in good condition after being shot outside Roosevelt High School on the Northwest Side this afternoon.
The boy, a student at the school, was at a bus stop in the 4700 block of North Kimball Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood when two "juveniles" shot him while trying to rob him around 2:25 p.m.
The robbers, who apparently are not students at the school, were arrested and were being questioned by police. A gun was recovered.
The boy was shot in the thigh and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in good condition, said Chicago Fire Department Spokesman Larry Langford. The high school is at 3436 W. Wilson Ave.
The shooting occurred as classes let out. 
20-year-old man shot in Englewood
A 20-year-old man was shot in the 5600 block of South Green Street about 3:30 p.m. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a graze wound to the chest. Someone fired 20 shots toward him, leaving shell casings all over the ground, and grazed him once. Police described the man shot as uncooperative.
2 16 year olds shot in Austin
At about 9 p.m, two 16-year-olds were shot in the 4900 block of West Ferdinand Street in the Austin neighborhood. One was shot in the arm and the other in the leg and both were taken to West Suburban Medical Center. Both are in good condition

Man shot in Logan Square
Before midnight Friday night, a man walked into Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and said he had been shot in the 2700 block of North Western Avenue about 6 hours earlier. He had a foot wound and police weren't able to find a crime scene.
Woman shot in Albany Park
Before 4 a.m. a woman was shot in the 4400 block of North Christiana Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood. Police
31-year-old man shot in Austin
Someone inside a light-colored SUV shot a 31-year-old man who was standing on a corner in the South Austin neighborhood about 4 a.m. He shot near Chicago and Menard avenues and taken to West Suburban Medical Center with wounds to his chest and right arm. Police said he was transferred to Stroger hospital in critical condition.
19-year-old man shot in Pilsen
In  Pilsen about 3:20 a.m. a 19-year-old man was shot in an attack. Police said the man shooter shouted the name of a gang before shooting toward the man, who was hit in the buttocks and leg. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
22 year old shot in Near North
A 22-year-old man was in the intersection of Orleans and Division streets, when a gunman dressed in all red shot him in the head.
The gunman then fled eastbound from the intersection.
There was no information available about the man's condition.
21 year old man shot in Gresham
A man was shot in the city's Gresham neighborhood.
That shooting happened shortly after 9:15 a.m. on the 500 block of West 81st Street.
The man, 21, suffered a wound to his left shoulder and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition was stabilized

Man charged with breaking into Albany Park home, attacking girl

A 30-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a girl as she slept in her Albany Park home last week.
Edwin Hernandez, of the 4600 block of North Lawndale Avenue, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and home invasion.
Hernandez is accused of climbing through a window to get to the girl's bedroom and assaulting the girl as she was sleeping.
The attack happened between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on June 16 on the 4800 block of North Ridgeway Avenue

Man tried to lure girl, 11, in Albany Park

Police are searching for a man they say tried to lure an 11-year-old girl to his vehicle in the Northwest Side's Albany Park neighborhood on Sunday.
About 9 p.m. Sunday, the girl was walking her dog in the 3900 block of West Arglye Street when a man pulled a vehicle to the curb and rolled down his window, "Hey, hey you, come here," the man said with slurred speech
The girl ran away to the 5000 block of North Springfield Avenue, where she saw the vehicle fleeing northbound.
The man is described as white or white Hispanic, in his 50s, with black hair combed straight back and a chubby face. He was weaing a white button-down

Man attacked sleeping girl in Albany Park home

Chicago police have issued a community alert after a man broke into an Albany Park neighborhood home and attacked a girl sleeping in her home early this morning.
The attack happened between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on the 4800 block of North Ridgeway Avenue.
The girl was sleeping in her bed when the man entered her bedroom through a window and sexually abused her. Police described the victim as a juvenile

Man dies after falling off Northwest Side roof

A nothwest suburban man died this afternoon after falling off the roof of a small apartment building in the Albany Park neighborhood.
The 55-year-old man, identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Alfons Dzieszuta of the 100 block of Bonnie Brae avenue in Mt. Prospect, fell off the roof of the building in the 4400 block of North Bernard Street about 5 p.m. The man was believed to have been working on the building's roof

A man died this afternoon after falling off the roof of a small apartment building in the Albany Park neighborhood.
The 55-year-old man fell off the roof of the building in the 4400 block of North Bernard Street about 5 p.m. The man was believed to have been working on the building's roof.
The man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was declared dead

17-year-old boy, 19-year-old woman shot in Albany Park UPDATE DOA

A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition after he and a 19-year-old woman were shot early this morning as they sat in a vehicle in the Albany Park neighborhood
The Albany Park shooting occurred around 2:25 a.m. in the 4900 block of North Whipple Street. The teenagers were sitting in a parked vehicle when a gunman started firing.
The boy was struck in the head and shoulder and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.
The woman was struck in the right forearm and was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where her condition was stabilized

20-year-old woman shot in Albany Park

On the Northwest Side, a 20-year-old woman was shot in the 4200 block of North California Avenue about 10:15 p.m. The woman was standing on the sidewalk when shots were fired from a passing dark-colored vehicle, which then fled the scene.
The woman was struck in the lower leg and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was listed in good condition

26 year old man stabbed to death in Albany Park

A 26-year-old man was stabbed to death Monday evening during an apparent dispute between roommates.
Following the stabbing, which happened in the Northwest Side's Albany Park neighborhood, police took the man's roommate into custody in connection with the slaying.
About 7:15 p.m. Monday, Eber Ochoa-Deleon, of the 4800 block of North Drake Avenue, was taken from his home to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.
At 8:24 p.m., Ochoa-Deleon was pronounced dead, having been stabbed multiple times

Man killed after exchanging gunfire with officers

A man was shot and killed after he fired a gun at Chicago police early Saturday morning in Albany Park on the city's Northwest Side.
The man was driving east on Wilson Avenue about 2:55 a.m. and hit an SUV as he crossed Kimball Avenue before hitting several other parked cars and coming to rest in the middle of the block.
An unmarked police SUV was behind it and the car's driver fired out of his car toward police.
Police said a car in front of the dead man's was hit by gunshots, apparently from the gun of the dead man, who had fired through his own windshield. The man, in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene

Alert issued for man approaching girls in Albany Park, North Park

Police have issued an alert about a man in his 20s who has been exposing himself and trying to grab girls in the Albany Park and North Park neighborhoods.
The man has stopped girls after school and tried to start a conversation, “only to then expose himself or grab at the girls as they flee from him,”
The incidents happened in the 4900 block of North Troy Street and the 3800 block of West Leland Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood, and the 3200 block of West Catalpa Avenue in the North Park neighborhood.
Police described the man as Hispanic, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10 and about 140 pounds. In one incident, he was wearing a gray hoodie over a blue hoodie; in another, he was wearing a white sweater and blue jeans. He has light skin and hair that is short and dark brown or black.

14-year-old boy shot in Albany Park neighborhood

A 14-year-old boy was shot in the shoulder in the Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
A gunman shouted gang slogans at the boy before opening fire in the 3100 block of West Lawrence Avenue.
The boy was hit in the shoulder and walked into nearby Swedish Covenant Hospital.

A look inside the evil entity we call gangs- 2 gang members accused of killing rival who pleaded, 'Don't do it, I love you'

Two gang members were ordered held on $1 million bail for fatally shooting a rival in Chicago's Albany Park neighborhood as he pleaded for his life.
Keith Shaw, 22, of the 3100 block of West Foster Avenue, was killed in the 3400 block of Sunnyside Avenue around 11 p.m. Tuesday several blocks from Theodore Roosevelt High School.
Clauduis Jackson, 20, and Giovanni Martinez, 16, were both charged with first-degree murder. Martinez was being charged as an adult.
Jackson and Martinez, members of the Spanish Gangster Disciples street gang, were walking with Shaw, who was a rival, when they headed into an alley.
Witnesses said Jackson pulled out a revolver and shot Shaw once, according to prosecutors. Shaw tried to flee and collapsed on a sidewalk.
Jackson handed the gun to Martinez, who stood over the unarmed Shaw and fired. Martinez shot a second time at close range.
Prosecutors said Jackson and Martinez were complying with orders from a high-ranking member of their gang to kill Shaw because he was a rival.
Martinez allegedly told others of his involvement and said Shaw pleaded for his life.
"Keith Shaw pleaded with him not to shoot and Keith Shaw said, 'Nah. Folks, don't do it, I love you,'.
The men were pointed out as the shooters by witnesses, and the two admitted their roles in the slaying

No bail for Albany Park man, 73, charged with fatally shooting son

A judge today denied baiil for a 73-year-old man charged with murder after fatally shooting his son during a fight earlier this month at their Northwest Side home.
Tiny Tim Gilbert appeared in court today, where a judge set the no-bail order.
Gilbert, of the 4900 block of North Whipple Street in the Albany Park neighorhood, was charged with murder.
Bryan Lopez, 24, of the Whipple Street address, was fatally shot about 10:50 a.m. Nov. 15 by his father during a physical altercation.
Lopez, who was pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center within an hour of the shooting, died of a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a homicide.
The victim was a ward of the state whom Gilbert had custody of for many years
