Shootings in Chicago October 28, 2013

57-year-old man shot in Chatham
In the Chatham neighborhood just before midnight, a 57-year-old man was shot in the finger. He told police he heard gunfire that may have come from a vehicle, though he couldn't describe the vehicle, and realized he had been shot. He was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition. 
52-year-old man shot in West Town
At about 9:35 p.m., a 52-year-old man was shot in the 1700 block of West Lake Street.
The man's condition was stabilized after the shooting, which happened in the West Town neighborhood. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County for a leg wound.
21-year-old man shot in Rosemoor
At about 7:15 p.m., someone shot a 21-year-old man in the the elbow in the 10200 block of South Eberhart Avenue, in the Rosemoor neighborhood.

Police shoot man dead after sergeant stabbed in face

Chicago police officers shot and killed a man after he stabbed a sergeant in the face in the Rosemoor neighborhood.
The sergeant, 46, suffered a puncture wound above the temple and lacerations to face. He was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center. Police said his wounds were not life-threatening.

The three officers forced their way into the home after hearing a woman scream and the sergeant, who was first to enter, was stabbed several times in the face. The other officers pulled the sergeant back outside and the suspect barricaded himself in the home.
After calling for an ambulance, the two officers re-entered the home and found the suspect downstairs near a furnace. Camden said the man charged at them with the knife and the officers shot him. He was dead at the scene.
The woman suffered puncture wounds to her leg and was treated at Roseland Hospital. Her son, 40, was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.
A statement from Chicago police said the man was wielding two knives and refused commands to drop them before he lunged toward the officers.
The statement identified the sergeant as a 19-year veteran assigned to the Calumet Police District on the Far South Side.  Police and Camden said the officers and the sergeant were tactical officers in plainclothes.

Shootings in Chicago August 15, 16, 2013

15-year-old girl, 16-year-old boy and man shot in Park Manor
A  15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were shot as they left a basketball game around 11:30 p.m. just east of Martin Luther King Drive in the Park Manor neighborhood. A 49-year-old man was also shot.
The 16-year-old was in critical condition with a chest wound at Stroger Hospital and the 15-year-old was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition, suffering from a leg wound. The man walked into the University of Chicago Hospital with a gunshot wound to the groin and also in good condition.
The three were shot by at least one gunman who fired from a nearby alley.
 
Two 15-year-old boys shot in Bronzeville
Two 15-year-old boys were shot in the 3800 block of South Vincennes Avenue in the Ida B. Wells/Darrow Homes neighborhood. One was taken to Comer Children's Hospital with a wound to the leg and the other taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center with a graze wound to the shoulder
 27-year-old man shot in South Chicago
Around 9:25 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in the 8500 block of South Oglesby Avenue in the South Chicago neighborhood. He was in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with wounds to the neck and chest
52-year-old man shot in west Pullman
A  52-year-old man was wounded around 1:20 a.m. Thursday in the West Pullman neighborhood. The man was shot in the 11500 block of South State Street and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition with a wound to the leg.
21 year old man shot in West Pullman
A man was shot and critically wounded in the West Pullman neighborhood, but apparently was driven by private car to a hospital instead of taken via ambulance.
The man, 21, walked into Roseland Hospital about 9:25 a.m., after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Police had to check the area for a crime scene, determining that the man likely was shot about 9:15 a.m. near 115th Street and Wentworth Avenue
2 people shot in Brainerd
Two people were wounded this afternoon in a shooting on the South Side in the city's Brainerd neighborhood.
The shooting happened shortly after 1 p.m. on the 9000 block of South Marshfield Avenue.
A male victim was shot in the buttocks and a woman, 34, was shot in the leg and buttocks
Man shot in West Pullman
At about 10:40 p.m. a man was shot in the 12600 block of South Eggleston Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood. He was shot in the abdomen and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Man shot in Belmont Cragin
Someone shot a man in the face in the 1700 block of North Linder Avenue. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center
18 and 19 year old men shot in West Pullman
About 12:05 a.m., two teens were shot in the 12200 block of South Halsted Street in the West Pullman neighborhood. A 19-year-old man shot in the head was left in critical condition and another, 18, was shot in the right arm and taken to Metro South Medical Center
18-year-old man shot in canaryville
Someone shot a 18-year-old in the leg and back in the Canaryville neighborhood about 11:30 p.m. The man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County from the 4300 block of South Union Avenue.
16-year-old girl shot in Rosemoor
In the Rosemoor neighborhood about 10 p.m., a 16-year-old girl was shot in the leg in the 10100 block of South Prairie Avenue. She was outside with friends when someone across the street fired a gun toward her group
19-year-old man shot in Lawndale
 19-year-old man walked into Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest about 9:30 p.m. He had been shot in the 2600 block of West 21st Place and dropped off at the hospital by a friend. He was in a group when he heard shots and felt pain
 15-year-old boy, 22-year-old man shot in Englewood
Two people were shot in Englewood about 9:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of west 73rd Street. A 15-year-old boy was hit in the leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and a 22-year-old was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital  with a wound to his buttocks. Police say they were on a porch when someone opened fire from a passing green car.
2 men shot in Calumet Heights
A shooting in the Calumet Heights neighborhood about 7:15 p.m. left two men wounded. The pair walked into Mercy Hospital & Medical Center - a 25-year-old with a wound to the wrist and a 35-year-old with a wound to the shoulder. Both are in good condition.
23-year-old man shot in Marquette Park
About 3:15 p.m., a 23-year-old man walked into Holy Cross Hospital with a gunshot wound to the wrist. He had been shot in the 7100 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
 30-year-old man  shot in the leg
About 3:07 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 5900 block of South Spaulding Avenue. He was stabilized at a local hospital
16 year old girl and man shot in Austin
Two people were shot in the South Austin neighborhood about 11:05 p.m. in the 4800 block of West Walton Street. They were shot near the corner of Cicero Avenue and Walton Street and taken to West Suburban Medical Center in good condition. A 16-year-old girl was shot in the leg and taken in an ambulance and a 21-year-old man showed up at the same hospital with a leg wound

16-year-old girl shot in Fuller Park
A 16-year-old girl in the back seat of a car was wounded when someone opened fire from inside a passing dark-colored SUV on Wednesday night
The car she was in pulled into a gas station at 42nd Street and Wentworth Avenue in the Fuller Park neighborhood about 9:40 p.m. 
The driver of the car saw a dark-colored SUV pass by and someone started shooting. The girl was hit in the buttocks and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in good condition
Man shot in Rosemoor
At about 11:30 p.m. a man was shot in the hand and taken to Roseland Hospital. Someone shot him in the 10200 block of South Prairie Avenue in the Rosemoor neighborhood.
32-year-old man shot in Logan Square
A 32-year-old man standing on a sidewalk in Logan Square was shot about 11 p.m. in an apparent drive-by attack. He was taken from the 3000 block of West Fullerton Avenue to Norwegian American Hospital with a gunshot wound
19-year-old man shot in Park Manor
Someone shot a 19-year-old man in the Park Manor neighborhood about 12:10 a.m., in the 6900 block of South Michigan Avenue.  The man was on a bicycle when someone from a group of young men started shooting and hit him in the back, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition
28-year-old man shot in Austin
At about 1:30 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in the North Austin neighborhood, in the 1600 block of North Latrobe Avenue. He was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in stable condition with a wound to his right leg.
Male shot in face in Little Village
A male was shot in the face while he was on the 2700 block of West 24th Street.
The shooting happened at about 4:42 p.m. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition
23-year-old man shot in Austin
A  23-year-old man was wounded this afternoon in a shooting on the West Side in the city's South Austin neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 12:10 p.m. on the 400 block of North Lavergne Avenue.
The man suffered a wound to his buttocks and was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital

19-year-old man shot in Rosemoor

Just after midnight, a 19-year-old man was shot in the 10100 block of South Indiana Avenue in the Rosemoor neighborhood. Someone got out of a car and fired, then got back inside and took off. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with a chest wound.

19-year-old man shot in Rosemoor

A 19-year-old man was shot on the Far South Side early this morning in the Rosemoor neighborhood.
The man was walking on a sidewalk in the 10400 block of South Rhodes Avenue when someone shot him about 12:45 a.m.
Greer said the victim told police he "heard shots and felt pain," during the incident.
A family member of the victim took him to Roseland Community Hospital where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. A condition was not known.
A dark colored sport-utility vehicle was seen after the shooting

Man charged in fatal South Side stabbing

Authorities have charged a 32-year-old Chicago resident with fatally stabbing a man who reportedly intervened to protect a woman during a dispute Wednesday evening in the South Side's Rosemoor neighborhood.
Demetrius Jackson, of the 10300 block of South Forest Avenue, turned himself in to police Friday and was charged with first-degree murder in the killing of William Terry, 55.
Terry died after being stabbed multiple times Wednesday evening on the block of South Forest where Jackson lives.

Man stabbed to death on South Side

A 56-year-old man died after he was stabbed multiple times in the Rosemoor neighborhood Wednesday night.
Someone stabbed him just after 7:10 p.m. in the 10300 block of South Forest Avenue.
He was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center. 
Police say a man who opened his door after hearing the screams of a woman seeking shelter from her husband was stabbed to death Wednesday night in the Rosemoor neighborhood.
The fight began in the 10300 block of South Forest Avenue about 7 p.m. The woman fled her husband and ran to a neighbor’s house a couple doors south
The man, identified as William Terry by the Cook County medical examiner's offie , opened the door and tried to intervene.
His attacker walked back up the block, grabbed two knives from the home where the fight began, went to back to the house and stabbed the man.
Someone called 911 and reported a “person with a knife” but when police arrived they found the 55-year-old face down and bleeding.
The attacker is not in custody.

20-year-old man shot in Rosemoor

Just before 7 p.m. a 20-year-old man was shot in the 10600 block of South Wabash Avenue. The man sustained four gunshot wounds, three to his back and a fourth to his buttocks.
The man was dropped off by someone to Little Company of Mary Hospital and was transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he was in critical condition

Police warn of sexual assault in Rosemoor

Police issued a community alert this afternoon warning of a sexual assault in Abbott Park on the South Side in the city's Rosemoor neighborhood.
A woman was waiting for the bus on the 9500 block of South Michigan Ave between the hours of 2 to 6 a.m. on Aug. 18, A man approached her from behind and pulled her into Abbott Park where she was beaten and sexually assaulted.
The man was described as black, between the ages of 24 to 33, between 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds.
He has a medium complexion with brown eyes and a low cut Mohawk.
He was last seen wearing a black long sleeve shirt and dark blue jeans.

2 shot 1 shot dead in Rosemoor

A 35-year-old man died after he was shot in the head and chest on the South Side about midnight, on the 10100 block of South Michigan Avenue. The man was approached by someone who emerged from a gangway2. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, along with an 18-year-old man who was also shot in the leg.
