Teen questioned, released in Southwest Side slaying

A 19-year-old man police were questioning after a West Englewood slaying on Wednesday has been released without charges.
The man had been held in connection with the killing of Joseph Brittman,  also 19. Brittman was shot in the back and died in a homicide.
Brittman, of 6400 block of South Bell Avenue, was shot near 64th Street and Campbell Avenue in the Marquette Park neighborhood, and pronounced dead at 5:24 p.m. on Wednesday
The victim was outside about 3:05 p.m. Wednesday when he had "verbal altercation" with another 19-year-old and was shot in the back.
The other man was arrested later Wednesday and questioned in connection with the homicidesaid. He has since been released

Man charged in birthday party fatal stabbing held on $1.5M

A 37-year-old man whose roommate had invited people to their apartment to attend a birthday party is charged with killing one of their guests with a butcher knife Monday.
Adan Montano, of the 2900 block of West 63rd Street, was charged with first degree murder and was ordered held in lieu of $1.5 million bail in court.
Montano, who had moved into the apartment only days earlier, was in his bedroom during most of the evening while the party was going on
At about 9 p.m., Montano left his room and jointed the party and began acting "strange and belligerent" and began bothering the guests including the victim, Stephanie Serrano, 19.
Montano was warned to that if he wanted to remain at the party he needed to stop bothering the female guests including Serrano.
Montano continued to bother the female guests and at one point began brushing his teeth in front of the female guests using a household cleaning product.
After Montano refused to stop bothering the guests he was told to leave the party and to return to his bedroom. Montano became upset and when the person throwing the party turned away, Montano punched him in the back. The person throwing the party responded by punching Montano in the mouth.
About an hour later, as the party was breaking up Serrano, the person throwing the party and a female guest walked out to a porch.
Montano then came out of his room with a beer and a butcher knife and tried to stab them. When the person throwing the party and the female party-goer saw Montano with the knife they fled the porch and returned into the apartment.
But as Serrano tried to flee she fell to the ground and Montano pounced on her and began to "viciously attack her with the butcher knife as she screamed out for help" .
Montano stabbed her multiple times, including to her face, arm, hands, and the knife even penetrated her heart.
She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead there.
A few moments later he walked into a police station with a gash on his head claiming to have been jumped by gang members.
He asked for an ambulance. Police said he matched the description and was identified by witnesses.
Montano later admitted to police that he had attacked Serrano because he was mad because the people at the party had beat him earlier in the evening and that when he went to confront them about it they laughed at him

20-year-old man shot in Marquette Park

About 3:20 a.m. a 20-year-old man was shot in the lower abdomen after stepping out of a vehicle into a gangway to urinate in the 6400 block of South Homan Avenue in the Marquette Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and listed in serious condition.

Man shot during bad drug deal called 911 before he died

A man shot during a drug deal gone bad was able to call 911 and give authorities a description of the getaway car before he died.
Daquon E. Renfro, 19, and Antonio Cox, 20, were charged with murder and attempted robbery after they allegedly approached 23-year-old Christopher Lang just before midnight on Sunday to buy some marijuana in the 3400 block of West 72nd Street in the Marquette Park neighborhood.
Prosecutors said Renfro pulled out a gun, and Cox began patting Lang’s pockets. Renfro then pointed the gun at Lang and shot him in the chest. The shooting was captured on video.
Bail was denied Wednesday for Renfro, of the 6000 block of South Wabash Avenue. Cox, of the 8400 block of South Throop Street, was ordered held on $2 million bail. Renfro had a warrant out for his arrest at the time of the shooting. Cox was on parole for a previous drug conviction.
Even after Lang fell to his knees, Cox searched the ground for the marijuana, prosecutors said. After Cox, Renfro and two others allegedly drove off in a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero, Lang made the 911 call.
Police spotted the Oldsmobile and began following the car, at which point someone tossed a bag containing a .38 revolver out the window. When the driver stopped, the four of them ran, but police were able to catch and arrest them.
Lang, of the 3500 block of West 72nd Place, was pronounced dead at 3:22 a.m. Monday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn

23-year-old man shot dead in Marquette Park

A  23-year-old man was shot and killed in the Marquette Park neighborhood late Sunday night and police caught three men wanted in connection with that shooting.
Chicago police, who are questioning the three suspects in custody, are still searching for a fourth person believed to be involved in the shooting at 72nd Place and Homan Avenue. The 23-year-old was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center after 3 a.m.
He was identified as Christopher Lang, of the 3500 block of West 72nd Place. He was pronounced dead at 3:22 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
The attacker stepped out of a car about 11:46 p.m. and shot the 23-year-old in the stomach before getting back in and driving away.
Police were pursuing an Oldsmobile Alero believed to be involved with the shooting when the driver stopped the car near 73rd Street and Claremont Avenue and all four people inside ran.
One was caught at 73rd and Oakley Avenue, one was caught in the 7200 block of South Claremont, and a third was caught toward the south end of the 7300 block of South Oakley.
Officers found a revolver that was tossed from the car in the 7700 block of South Claremont

Police warn of South, Southwest Side robberies refuse to ID race of offenders

Police issued robbery warnings for the South and Southwest sides tonight after 5 robberies in those areas the last few days.
On the Southwest Side, police warned of three robberies between Oct. 31 and Nov. 2.
The robber is “generally described” as a 20-25 year old man between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot weighing between 150 ad 215 pounds, according . In the robberies, the man either showed a handgun or implied that he had one.
Police say he robbed people in the 2800 block of West 62nd Street on Oct. 29 about 3:40 a.m., the 6300 block of South Washtenaw about 5:45 a.m. the next day, and the 2700 block of West 63rd Street about 1:22 p.m. the day after that.
The three locations are all within two blocks of each other in the Chicago Lawn and Marquette Park neighborhoods.
On the South Side in The Gap neighborhood – three blocks from Chicago Police Department headquarters – two robberies happened on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Police described the attackers as men between the ages of 17 and 30 years old, weighing 140 to 210 pounds, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-11. Each of the pair showed handguns during the robberies before going through pockets and belongings.
The robberies happened in the 3400 block of South King Drive about 6 p.m. on Nov. 1 and the 3300 block of South King Drive on Nov. 3 about 10:40 a.m.

Second man charged in fatal robbery in Marquette Park

A second person has been charged in the death of a Marquette Park man who was shot after he chased two robbers from his home and continued following them in his car, striking one of them.
Damien Thomas, 21, of the 2300 block of West 65th Street, was charged with murder and home invasion.
Thomas and Dorvell D. Gogins, 23, broke into the home of Jeremiah Brown, 27, in the 6300 block of South Kedzie Avenue on July 11.
The two fled and Brown got into his car and followed, striking Gogins a few houses down on the block. At some point during the confrontation, Gogins shot Brown in the chest.
Brown died next to his car. Responding officers found Gogins, both his legs broken, nearby. A gun was recovered.

Would-be sno-cone stand robber returns to scene, gets arrested

A woman who pointed at her nametag on her hat and said she’d be “back later” for money after trying to rob a Marquette Park sno-cone stand at knifepoint made good her promise and was arrested.
Cook County Criminal Court Judge Maria Kuriakos-Cesil set bail today at $250,000 for Lynette Johnson, 45, who is charged with two counts of felony attempted armed robbery.
The victims, a 62-year-old woman and a 24-year-old woman,  were selling sno-cones, corn, and mangoes about 2 p.m. Wednesday at Marquette Park near the 7100 block of South California Avenue when Johnson confronted them and demanded they give her money.
Johnson, of the 3000 block of West 71stStreet, then pulled a red handled knife with a 6-inch blade from their cart and “poked’’  one of them in the stomach, but did not break the skin.
When the other woman became “irate” and told Johnson she was going to call the police on her, Johnson fled saying that she would “come back later’’ for cash and pointed to the back of her baseball cap which had the name Lynette printed on it.
The victims flagged down a CTA bus driver to call police and Johnson was positively identified by both victims

Shootings in Chicago September 12, 2013

3 men shot in Marquette Park
At about 5:10 p.m., three men were shot in the 7100 block of South Rockwell Street, O'Brien said.
A 19-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were both taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn,. A third man, 35, was being treated at Holy Cross Hospital.
The three were on the street when someone came up and opened fire on the men, hitting them.
One man suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, another a gunshot wound to the leg. News Affairs did not have a breakdown of how each of the three men was wounded, or information on their conditions.
 14-year-old boy shot in Ashburn
At about 7:50 p.m., a 14-year-old boy was shot in the 7600 block of South Homan Avenue. The boy was approached by three young men wearing white and one shot him in the back. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center to be treated for the wound

Woman bit off cousin's nose

A woman was arrested on charges of aggravated battery after she took a bite out of her cousin's nose, permanently disfiguring her.
Damika Robinson, 39, of the 1500 block of East 61st Street in Woodlawn, was at a party at her 38-year-old cousin's home in Marquette Park on Aug. 4 when the women began arguing. The confrontation allegedly turned violent, with Robinson assaulting the woman and at one point biting her several times on the face, "including a bite that removed her nose" .
Prosecutors said the woman was treated for her injuries at a local hospital, but two-thirds of her nose could not be saved.
Robinson was arrested at her home Wednesday morning and brought to the Cook County Criminal Courthouse Thursday afternoon.

Shootings in Chicago August 20, 21, 2013

25-year-old man shot in Englewood
In  the shooting, a 25-year-old man was shot in both feet when at least one person opened fire from a moving vehicle in the South Side's Englewood neighborhood.
The man was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County after the drive-by, which happened about 12:20 a.m. in the 5600 block of South Shields Avenue. His condition was stabilized.
17-year-old boy shot in Lakeview
At about 12:15 a.m. in the Lakeview neighborhood, a 17-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to the ankle in the 3100 block of North Hoyne Avenue. The boy was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.
Police said he was not cooperating with investigators and that his injury may have been self-inflicted.
23-year-old man shot in South Chicago
At 10:49 p.m. Tuesday, a 23-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 2700 block of East 87th Street
21-year-old man shot in South Chicago
At 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, a 21-year-old man was shot in the arm and neck in the 8800 block of South Escanaba Avenue. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
19-year-old man shot in Calumet Heights
At about 10:40 p.m., a gunman approached a 19-year-old man in the 9000 block of South Yates Boulevard. The 19-year-old tried to run away, but the assailant opened fire, striking him in the arm.
The man was taken to Stroger, where his condition was stabilized
Male shot in Englewood during robbery
A male patient arrived at St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center after being shot in the 7200 block of South Green Street. The victim, whose age and condition were not released, had been shot in the groin
The robbery happened about 10:40 p.m. in the 7200 block of South Green Street. A 30-year-old man was sitting in a vehicle when an armed assailant entered the vehicle through the passenger's side and demanded his chain necklace.
Both people stepped out of the car, and the 30-year-old handed over the necklace. The assailant then shot the man in the groin and fled on foot
Man shot in South Austin
A  47-year-old man was shot this evening in the South Austin Neighborhood.
The shooting happened on the 500 block of North Pine Avenue at about 7:40 p.m.
The man was shot in the lower back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had stabilized
33-year-old man shot in Rogers Park
The shooting about 2:15 a.m., police found a 33-year-old man lying in the 1600 block of West Morse Avenue, bleeding from gunshot wounds to the hip and stomach.
Police would later learn someone had opened fire after an argument about gang affiliations.
The injured man was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition was stabilized.
18-year-old shot in Marquette Park
In  another shooting at 5:37 p.m. in the 2400 block of West 70th Street , someone shot an 18-year-old man in the buttocks.
The 18-year-old was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition
 26-year-old man shot in Chicago Lawn
In  an attack at 5:05 p.m., a 26-year-old man was in his vehicle when an unknown gunman riding a bicycle confronted him and shot him in the abdomen on the 2800 block of West 64th Street.
The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition has stabilized
Man shot in Englewood
At about 9 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Hoyne Avenue in the city's West Englewood neighborhood, another person was shot.
The victim on Hoyne, a male of an unknown age, was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious to critical condition

Shootings in Chicago August 15, 16, 2013

15-year-old girl, 16-year-old boy and man shot in Park Manor
A  15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were shot as they left a basketball game around 11:30 p.m. just east of Martin Luther King Drive in the Park Manor neighborhood. A 49-year-old man was also shot.
The 16-year-old was in critical condition with a chest wound at Stroger Hospital and the 15-year-old was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition, suffering from a leg wound. The man walked into the University of Chicago Hospital with a gunshot wound to the groin and also in good condition.
The three were shot by at least one gunman who fired from a nearby alley.
 
Two 15-year-old boys shot in Bronzeville
Two 15-year-old boys were shot in the 3800 block of South Vincennes Avenue in the Ida B. Wells/Darrow Homes neighborhood. One was taken to Comer Children's Hospital with a wound to the leg and the other taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center with a graze wound to the shoulder
 27-year-old man shot in South Chicago
Around 9:25 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in the 8500 block of South Oglesby Avenue in the South Chicago neighborhood. He was in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with wounds to the neck and chest
52-year-old man shot in west Pullman
A  52-year-old man was wounded around 1:20 a.m. Thursday in the West Pullman neighborhood. The man was shot in the 11500 block of South State Street and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition with a wound to the leg.
21 year old man shot in West Pullman
A man was shot and critically wounded in the West Pullman neighborhood, but apparently was driven by private car to a hospital instead of taken via ambulance.
The man, 21, walked into Roseland Hospital about 9:25 a.m., after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Police had to check the area for a crime scene, determining that the man likely was shot about 9:15 a.m. near 115th Street and Wentworth Avenue
2 people shot in Brainerd
Two people were wounded this afternoon in a shooting on the South Side in the city's Brainerd neighborhood.
The shooting happened shortly after 1 p.m. on the 9000 block of South Marshfield Avenue.
A male victim was shot in the buttocks and a woman, 34, was shot in the leg and buttocks
Man shot in West Pullman
At about 10:40 p.m. a man was shot in the 12600 block of South Eggleston Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood. He was shot in the abdomen and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Man shot in Belmont Cragin
Someone shot a man in the face in the 1700 block of North Linder Avenue. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center
18 and 19 year old men shot in West Pullman
About 12:05 a.m., two teens were shot in the 12200 block of South Halsted Street in the West Pullman neighborhood. A 19-year-old man shot in the head was left in critical condition and another, 18, was shot in the right arm and taken to Metro South Medical Center
18-year-old man shot in canaryville
Someone shot a 18-year-old in the leg and back in the Canaryville neighborhood about 11:30 p.m. The man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County from the 4300 block of South Union Avenue.
16-year-old girl shot in Rosemoor
In the Rosemoor neighborhood about 10 p.m., a 16-year-old girl was shot in the leg in the 10100 block of South Prairie Avenue. She was outside with friends when someone across the street fired a gun toward her group
19-year-old man shot in Lawndale
 19-year-old man walked into Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest about 9:30 p.m. He had been shot in the 2600 block of West 21st Place and dropped off at the hospital by a friend. He was in a group when he heard shots and felt pain
 15-year-old boy, 22-year-old man shot in Englewood
Two people were shot in Englewood about 9:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of west 73rd Street. A 15-year-old boy was hit in the leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and a 22-year-old was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital  with a wound to his buttocks. Police say they were on a porch when someone opened fire from a passing green car.
2 men shot in Calumet Heights
A shooting in the Calumet Heights neighborhood about 7:15 p.m. left two men wounded. The pair walked into Mercy Hospital & Medical Center - a 25-year-old with a wound to the wrist and a 35-year-old with a wound to the shoulder. Both are in good condition.
23-year-old man shot in Marquette Park
About 3:15 p.m., a 23-year-old man walked into Holy Cross Hospital with a gunshot wound to the wrist. He had been shot in the 7100 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
 30-year-old man  shot in the leg
About 3:07 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 5900 block of South Spaulding Avenue. He was stabilized at a local hospital
16 year old girl and man shot in Austin
Two people were shot in the South Austin neighborhood about 11:05 p.m. in the 4800 block of West Walton Street. They were shot near the corner of Cicero Avenue and Walton Street and taken to West Suburban Medical Center in good condition. A 16-year-old girl was shot in the leg and taken in an ambulance and a 21-year-old man showed up at the same hospital with a leg wound

Teen accidentally shoots self while handling gun

An 18-year-old woman found a .45-caliber handgun near her home and accidentally shot herself in the hand when she tried to handle it.
The teen, who police initially said might be about 16, but who is 18, was injured near 69th and Rockwell streets about 11 a.m.
The woman was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, then transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition had stabilized
Initially, police were told the woman was the victim of a shooting that took place outside of her home, that she was shot by someone in a white SUV as she took out the trash. Under further questioning, however, the woman admitted she found the .45-caliber gun and was handling it when it went off

3 charged in shooting of 4-year-old girl

Three teenagers have been charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a 4-year-old girl as she rode her scooter near her grandmother's home early this week.
Laquan Waters, 18, Tyrese Pearson, 17, and Roosevelt Stevens, 15, have been charged with attempted murder in the shooting about 4:55 p.m. Monday of Khalise Weatherspoon..
The girl was on a scooter, playing with her 3-year-old brother and two older sisters just down the block from their grandmother's home near 71st and Rockwell streets in Marquette Park, when two gunmen stepped out of an alley and opened fire about 4:55 p.m. Monday. Khalise was struck in the abdomen and a 31-year-old man was also hit.
The girl was taken by a neighbor to Holy Cross Hospital, then transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was listed in good condition. The man suffered a gunshot wound to the buttocks and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital.
Earlier in the week, police had no description of the shooters. Detectives were able to track down the suspects despite lack of cooperation from Khalise's family in identifying the shooters.
Waters, of the 6900 block of South Artesian Avenue, Pearson, of the 9300 block of South Greenwood, and Stevens, of the 7200 block of South Wentworth--who is being charged as an adult

Girl, 4, shot along with man in Marquette Park

A 4-year-old girl was shot and seriously wounded while playing outside her grandmother's house in the Marquette Park neighborhood, neighbors.
The attack took place near 71st and Rockwell streets at 4:56 p.m.
The girl, was shot in the abdomen and initial information indicated she was in serious condition. The man, age 31, was shot in the buttocks. The Chicago Fire Department was called to the scene, but someone drove the two victims to Holy Cross Hospital before fire ambulances arrived.
The girl was hospitalized in good condition at Mount Sinai after being taken there via Fire Department ambulance from Holy Cross.
The girl and man were on Rockwell when two men or boys came out of an alley and fired several rounds in the direction of the victims

20-year-old man shot in Englewood
In the shooting, about 3:30 a.m. a 20-year-old man was shot in the arm in in the 7400 block of South Princeton Avenue. The man told police he was walking when he heard shots and felt pain.
He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hosptial of Cook County, where his condition was stabilized.
17-year-old boy  shot Washington Park
A 17-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded in the Parkway Gardens neighborhood this morning.
The teen, shot in the 6300 block of South King Drive about 7:10 a.m
The boy was standing on the street when a man or boy came up and shot at him, striking the boy in the neck. The attacker then fled on foot.
The boy was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was in critical condition

43-year-old man shot in Marquette Park
A 43-year-old man was shot and critically injured during an argument on the Southwest Side late Monday night.
About 11:40 p.m., someone took out a gun and opened fire during a verbal altercation in the 6300 block of South Rockwell Street.
A 43-year-old man was struck in the right side of the back and taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center .
The shooting happened in the Marquette Park neighborhood.
16-year-old boy and man shot in Near West Side
In a shooting in the Near West Side neighborhood, two people were hurt when someone in a vehicle opened fire on a group of people standing on the sidewalk about 11:15 p.m.
A 16-year-old boy was struck in the heel, and a 47-year-old man was shot in both ankles. Both were taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where their conditions were stabilized.

Victim runs over attacker before dying from fatal shot

A man who died in a Marquette Park shooting earlier this week was able to run down his attacker with his car before he died.
Jeremiah Brown was inside a house in the 6400 block of South Spaulding Avenue on the the Southwest Side on Thursday when Dorvell D. Gogins, 23, entered the house and stole "personal belongings" of the homeowner at gunpoint about 3 p.m.
Gogins left and Brown gave chase in a gold Lexus, hitting Gogins in the 6300 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
At some point during the confrontation Gogins shot Brown in the chest. Gogins is due in court Sunday on first-degree murder and armed home invasion charges.
Brown, 27, died at the scene next to his car and responding police found Gogins with broken legs and a gun nearby.
Brown lived in the 6200 block of South Albany Avenue, and Gogins lives in the 7000 block of South Hermitage Avenue.

Man shot dead in Marquette Park

A man was fatally wounded this afternoon in a shooting on the Southwest Side in the city's Marquette Park neighborhood.
About 3:30 p.m., a man was shot in the chest on the 6300 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
The man, described as in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Man critically wounded in Lawndale  shooting
A man, in his 20's, was critically wounded this afternoon in a shooting on the West Side in the city's Lawndale neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. on the 1400 block of South Keeler Avenue
28-year-old man shot in Englewood
A 28-year-old man drove himself to St. Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center after suffering three wounds, two to his abdomen and one to his chest. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said. He was shot in the 5900 block of South Peoria Avenue about 3:30 a.m
Four people, including a 14-year-old boy shot in Woodlawn
Four people, including a 14-year-old boy, were wounded around 12:30 a.m. on Cottage Grove between 60th and 61st streets in the West Woodlawn neighborhood.
The 14-year-old was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, about two blocks away. A 54-year-old woman with a leg wound and a 37-year-old man with a wound to the right forearm were taken to the University of Chicago Hospital. A 35-year-old woman was stable at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a leg wound

21-year-old man shot in Englewood
Friends of a man shot in the buttocks dropped him off at Saint Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center about 3:30 a.m., but police said the 21-year-old was not cooperating with police and had left the hospital. He was shot in the 6500 block of South Parnell Avenue
 Cab driver shot during robbery in South Shore
A cab driver was shot outside a taxi association on the South Side about 2:30 a.m. Friday. The shooter tried to rob the cabbie in the 7700 block of South Exchange Avenue and shot him in the stomach. The 56-year-old man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition
17-year-old boy shot in Roseland
About 2:15 a.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen near 103rd Street and Michigan Avenue in the Roseland neighborhood. He was driven to Little Company of Mary Hospital and transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition.
 Man and a boy, 19 and 16 shot in Englewood
A man and a boy, 19 and 16, were wounded in the 5800 block of South Princeton Avenue about 2:10 a.m. They were on a porch when two men walked up and opened fire. The man was in serious condition at Stroger hospital with a wound to his lower back, and the boy was hit in the left leg and was stable at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center.
35-year-old man shot in Roseland
Someone shot a 35-year-old man in the leg about 11:45 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of East Kensington Avenue in the Roseland neighborhood. He was taken to Metro South Medical Center in stable condition
33-year-old man shot in Marquette Park
 A 33-year-old man was shot in the 7100 block of South Campbell Avenue about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. He was on a porch and hit in the shoulder and leg. He was stable at Mount Sinai Hospital.  He was shot by someone who stepped out of an alley and opened fire.
23-year-old man shot in South Shore
A person was wounded about 10:30 p.m. Thursday in the 7600 block of South Coles Avenue. The man was shot four times in the leg, once in the abdomen and once in the side. The 23-year-old said he didn't know why he was shot. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
27-year-old man shot in Garfield Park
Someone shot a 27-year-old in his back and left thigh in the 300 block of South Mozart Street about 8:45 p.m. Thursday. The 27-year-old had told the shooter moments earlier to stop urinating in front his girlfriend. The man left, returned on a scooter and opened fire. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
2 men shot in Garfield Park
Two men were shot about 3:42 p.m. Thursday on the 500 block of North Lawndale Avenue in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. Two men, both 20, were shot and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition. One was hit in the left shoulder and the other in the left thigh
Man shot in Gage Park
A man was shot in the 5600 block of South Western Avenue while he was in a car. He was driving south when someone in a Dodge Charger flashed gang sins and fired toward the man, hitting him in the head. He's in grave condition
3 people shot in Austin
In Austin, three people were shot as they stood outside on Leclaire Avenue north of Madison Street around 2:20 a.m. Thursday.
A 29-year-old man was shot in the right ankle and a 25-year-old woman was grazed in the arm. Both of them were taken to West Suburban Medical Center. A 25-year-old woman was shot in the neck and buttocks and was taken to Stroger Hospital.

A Lawndale shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. on the 1400 block of South Keeler Avenue.
A man described as being in his 20s was wounded and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed as in critical condition
2 men shot in Back of the Yards
A 46-year-old man was and a 30-year-old man, were shot about 4:30 p.m. in the 5400 block of South Bishop Street in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Both were taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The older man was shot in the right thigh and the younger in the buttocks.
 22-year-old man shot in Lawndale
In the 600 block of South Francisco Avenue in Lawndale a 22-year-old man was shot about 6 p.m. Someone in a dark van driving north on Francisco toward Harrison Street started shooting and the man was shot in the chest while diving for cover. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital by a relative.
25-year-old man shot in Englewood
A 25-year-old man was shot in the buttocks about 11:20 p.m. in the 6400 block of South Oakley Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Man shot in Woodlawn
A man, in his 30s, walked into the University of Chicago Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left knee. He had been shot about 11:30 p.m. in the 700 block of East 60th Street in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.
26-year-old man shot in Gresham
After midnight, a 26-year-old man was shot in the shoulder near 79th and Elizabeth streets in the Gresham neighborhood. Police said he'll survive. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with a wound to his shoulder.
Man shot in Austin
One man was shot about 12:35 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of North Pine Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood. The 31-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition with wounds to his left thigh and right ankle
17-year-old boy shot in Roseland
A person was shot in the arm in the 500 block of West 110th Street, police said. The 17-year-old boy was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center but was not cooperating with investigators
24-year-old shot in Humboldt Park
On the West Side, a 24-year-old was shot three times in his legs after someone chased him in a house in the 800 block of North Springfield Avenue. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital after the shooting, which happened about 9:45 p.m. 
 24-year-old man Austin
A 24-year-old man was shot in the face near the intersection of Adams Street and Laramie Avenue. He was shot before midnight and dropped off at Loretto Hospital
22-year-old man shot on Southwest Side
On the Southwest Side, a 22-year-old man standing near a van was shot in the back and taken to  Christ Medical Center in good condition. Someone approached him near the corner of St. Louis Avenue about 2:05 a.m.

Man shot dead in Marquette Park

Police discovered the dead man around 10:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of South Francisco Avenue, a few doors north of 64th Street. The man was dead on the scene. Relatives said he was 30 years old.
The man was standing on the street when someone came up to him and shot him in the head
