Shootings in Chicago September 28, 29, 2013

 39-year-old man shot in Lawndale
Earlier Saturday, a 39-year-old man was shot in the 1600 block of South Karlov Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood. He had been shot after an argument with another man about 3 p.m., police said. He's in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
34-year-old man shot in Ravenswood Manor
A shooting in the Ravenswood Manor neighborhood about 10 p.m. left a 34-year-old man wounded. The man was approached by four others in the 4700 block of North Sacramento Avenue and one fired, striking him in his lower right leg. His condition has stabilized at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
Man shot in Gresham
Early Sunday morning, about 4:50 a.m., a man in his 40s was shot in the 8000 block of South Loomis Boulevard in the Gresham neighborhood. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with a wound to his shoulder.
Man shot in Woodlawn
A  man believed to be 24-years-old was wounded this afternoon in a shooting on the South Side in the city's Woodlawn neighborhood.
The man was shot about 3:44 p.m. in the 600 block of East 67th Street.
The man suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh and was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition was stabilized

$150K bail for man charged with cell phone theft

A  Ravenswood man was ordered held in lieu of $150,000 bail Sunday after he allegedly stole a boy's cell phone Saturday.
Manuel Nava, 32, of the 4700 block of North Paulina Street, faces robbery charges in connection with Saturday's incident.
Police were called to the 4700 block of North Kedzie Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side late Saturday afternoon in response to reports that an 11-year-old boy had had his cell phone taken from him.
When police arrived, the boy pointed out Nava, who was walking away on West Lawrence Avenue.
The boy identified his stolen cell phone and Nava was arrested.
Nava is a convicted felon with a robbery history.
"I know him," Nava said to police. "He owes me $20 so I took the phone!"

Man found lying dead in street on North Side

Police are investigating the death of a man who was found lying dead in the street early this morning on the North Side in the city's Ravenswood neighborhood.
Shortly before 5 a.m., a passing motorist saw an unresponsive man lying in the street on the 2100 block of West Wilson Avenue.
Police and paramedics were brought to the scene where the man was pronounced dead.
The man's death is being investigated as a possible hit-and-run
An autopsy Sunday determined James Andrew Truslow, possibly in his 30s, died of multiple injuries from a car hitting a pedestrian

Woman's body found floating in river

Someone called 911 after seeing the remains floating in the river near 2750 W. Irving Park Rd. in  Horner Park.
About 10 a.m., crews went to the scene and recovered the remains, which appear to be a woman, .
It is not known how long the body was in the water.
Extreme temperatures may have caused the body to become frozen

Collisions leaves one pedestrian dead, one critically injured

A vehicle struck two pedestrians in the Ravenswood neighborhood Friday night, killing one and leaving the other in critical condition
The collision happened at about 6 p.m. Friday on the 5000 block of North Western Avenue on the Northwest Side
A  vehicle struck two people, both of whom were taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston.
One of them, 85-year-old Evanston resident Raymond Lending, was pronounced dead at 9:09 p.m..
The other pedestrian was in critical condition

Man killed in hit-and-run accident in Ravenswood

A 30-year-old man was killed early this morning in a hit-and-run accident in the Ravenswood neighborhood.
The incident happened about 1:30 a.m. at an alley in the 2400 block of West Foster Avenue.
Decolie Esco, of the 4800 block of South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, was pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston at 2:53 a.m..
The man, who was in the area visiting his girlfriend, was dragged by the vehicle after being struck. The incident took place on near an alley a block south of Foster Avenue

Motorcyclist killed in early-morning Ravenwood crash

A motorcyclist was killed and two other people were injured today in an early-morning crash involving two motorcycles and a car
The collision happened near the intersection of Lawrence and Damen avenues in the Ravenswood neighborhood at about 1:30 a.m.
A witness said it appeared that the motorcyclists struck the vehicle as it was making a left turn at the intersection.
Three people were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where one of the motorcyclists was pronounced dead

Staffer bound as currency exchange hit by robber posing as postal worker

Two men, including one posing as a postal worker delivering a package, robbed a Ravenswood currency exchange this afternoon.
It happened about 2:30 p.m. at the Montrose Ravenswood Currency Exchange at 1808 W. Montrose Ave..
When the female worker was signing for the package, which was addressed to the owner of the business, the man dressed as a postal worker and another man forced their way inside past a secured door.
The robbers ordered her to the floor and she was bound with tape.
One pulled a gun and demanded to know where the safe was, before they grabbed an unknown amount of cash from a drawer in the back room and some CTA bus passes and fled out the front door
