A Chicago police sergeant shot and wounded a gunman involved in a shootout in the
South Side's Fernwood neighborhood.
The sergeant was
responding to a domestic disturbance call in the 10000 block of South State
Street around 8:30 p.m. Sunday when he saw two people shooting toward each
other.
One of the shooters turned toward the sergeant and the
sergeant told the gunman to drop his gun, according to the statement. The gunman
didn't and and the sergeant fired, striking him in the foot.
The gunman, whose age was not released, was taken to Roseland
Community Hospital and was expected to survive
