A third man has been charged with shooting two women outside a home because
the two women denied them entry to a party.
The women, 31 and 46, were at a birthday party in the Hegewisch
neighborhood on the 2700 block of East 128th Street about 11:50 p.m. on June 2
when three men tried to get in. The women said no.
The three left but came back with bats, and again were denied entry. They drove off but a short way
down the block, one got out and opened fire, hitting the 31-year-old in the eye
and the 46-year-old in the shoulder.
Both were taken to St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare hospital in Hammond but the
younger was later transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Ventura Lechuga, 20, of the 3500 block of East 95th Street, was charged early
on June 22 with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm.
Matthew and Brandon Medrano, brothers from the same gang as Lechuga who lived
together in the 3000 block of East 80th Street, were both charged with two
counts of aggravated battery with a firearm on June 5.
