A 33-year-old man was fatally shot in the Washington Park neighborhood after he
apparently exchanged words with someone in a van Wednesday evening.
The shooting happened at about 7:52 p.m. on the 100 block of West 59th
Street.
Charles Bush was walking eastbound on 59th Street when he said something to
someone inside a black minivan. The minivan then
pulled over and someone from inside the van ran out and fired two shots at Bush,
Bush was shot in the abdomen and lower torso and was taken in critical
condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he later
died.
After the person fired the shots the person ran south and jumped back into
the van, which then fled.
