2 men wounded in West Englewood shooting
Two men were seriously injured in a shooting in the city's West Englewood neighborhood.
Police discovered the men, ages 40 and 29, lying wounded on the sidewalk in the 1700 block of West 71st Street at about 7 p.m. Tuesday. Responding officers also saw a man running from the scene as they arrived.
The 40-year-old man, who was shot in the thigh and right arm, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition. The younger victim, who was shot in the left thigh and abdomen, was taken to Stroger Hospital in "guarded" condition.

2 men shot in West Englewood
Two men were shot and injured this evening in the West Englewood neighborhood.
The incident happened at about 7 p.m. near 71st and Paulina streets.
A 29-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, he said. The other man, a 40-year-old, also was shot in the abdomen.

No officers were injured in the shooting that occurred at about 12:20 a.m. in the 1200 block of West 58th Street.
Englewood police district stopped the vehicle in the 5800 block of South Elizabeth Street to conduct field interviews.
As police were removing the four men from the vehicle in order to search them, one of the men bolted and ran east, said police and Pat Camden, a spokesman for the Fraternal Order of Police.
After the officers broadcast the man's description over police radio, two responding officers spotted a man fitting the description a short time later near 58th Street and Racine Avenue.
When those officers got out of their vehicle and approached, the man turned away with a handgun in his hand, Camden said. When the 33-year-old man pointed the gun in the officers' direction, one of the officers fired, striking the man in his left side.
The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
Police said they recovered a handgun at the scene.

A 21-year-old man died after suffering a leg wound Monday afternoon in the West Englewood neighborhood.
The victim was identified as Cordell Brown, of the 6400 block of South Wood Street
An autopsy, scheduled for this morning, could confirm police suspicions that the bullet struck an artery in Brown's leg.
The shooting happened at about 3:05 p.m. in the 5900 block of South Winchester Avenue.
Brown was walking down the street when two gunmen got out of a car and opened fire on him.
He ran a short distance before collapsing on the street, police said. He was struck in the left leg, but bled profusely at the scene.
Investigators suspected that the shooting was gang related because the victim was a member of an area gang,.

Police search for women who beat, robbed 80-year-old man
An 80-year-old man was attacked and robbed by a group of young women whom he was giving a ride.
The victim offered a ride to the four women, all described as being in their 20s, who accepted and were inside his 1999 Toyota Camry when the attack occurred Tuesday afternoon.
At about 6:50 p.m., police said the women then turned on the man, beating him with a cane and dumping him on the street in the 6900 block of South Parnell Avenue before escaping in his car
The women also stole the man's wallet and cell phone, police said. He suffered only minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in good condition.

Officers shoot man after he points gun at them
One person was wounded in a Chicago-police involved shooting Tuesday in the South Side's Englewood neighborhood.
No officers were hurt, but the extent of the civilian's wounds was not immediately known.
The shooting happened about 5:30 p.m. at West 73rd and South Morgan Streets, police said.
Police said that Englewood District officers tried do a field interview at the intersection when the incident happened.
"The offender refused to stop, pulled a gun from his waistband, and pointed it at the officers as he attempted to flee eastbound on 73rd Street," according to a police statement.
An officer fired at the man, hitting him. He was taken to a local hospital, and a gun was recovered from the scene.

Man shot in the face in Englewood
A man was shot in the face in the Englewood neighborhood early Saturday on the South Side.
The 18-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk with a group of males in the 2000 block of West 68th Street when a dark-colored vehicle drove pass about 12:35 a.m. and somebody inside opened fire at the group.
The man was shot in the face.

At 9:19 p.m. fire paramedics were called to the 7200 block of South Paulina Street and found three victims suffering apparent gunshot wounds. Shots also were fired at the first police officers who responded to a car crash at the scene. Police did not fire any shots and no police officers were wounded.
All three victims suffered gunshot wounds, and at least one of them was injured in the crash. It was not immediately known who fired the shots at police or the victims,.
The three wounded victims were taken to local hospitals in serious-to-critical condition.

an 18-year-old woman was shot in her lower back on the 700 block of West Garfield Boulevard in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood, according to police.

A man was shot and killed Friday night while he sat on a park bench on the South Side.
Tyrone Robertson, 20, of the 10600 block of South Wentworth Avenue, was pronounced dead at Saint Bernard Hospital at 9:36 p.m. after being shot in the 440 block of West 72nd Street.

Man found fatally shot on sidewalk in Englewood
A Marquette Park man was shot and killed this morning about four miles from his home.
Killed was Antonio Campbell, 35, of the 7200 block of South Sacramento Avenue. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
Officers responding to a "shots fired" call found Campbell's body lying on a sidewalk at about 2:08 a.m. in the 100 block of West 70th Street in the Englewood neighborhood.
Campbell suffered a single gunshot wound to the very center of his back, Mirabelli said. Officers at the scene also found several bullet casings, but no witnesses.
Campbell also had several felony convictions in his past, including a 2000 conviction for armed robbery and kidnapping, according to court records.

The two were in a home on the 6400 block of South Racine Avenue about 10 p.m. when someone shot at the residence from outside, wounding the pair.
The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was in critical condition at Comer Children's Hospital, while the woman sustained a graze wound to the chest and was in good condition.
A Fire Department spokesman said both of the victims had been reported in serious-to-critical condition when they were taken from the scene.
The scene of the shooting is near the eastern edge of Ogden Park in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

Man asked to use cell phone, then attacked woman
South Side detectives today released a sketch of a man who raped a woman after asking to use her cell phone while they walked in Englewood on Sunday.
The woman, 21, was in the 6800 block of South Perry Avenue about 8:50 p.m. when the man forced her into an alley and sexually assaulted her.
The woman was walking on Perry Avenue who the man came up to her, started to talk to her, and then asked to use her cell phone, according to the alert. The man then took out a handgun and forced the woman into a nearby alley.
The man fled west on 69th Street after the attack.
Police released both a sketch and a description of the attacker.
The attacker was described as a black man, between 40 and 55 years old, standing between 6 feet and 6-foot-3, weighing between 150 and 170 pounds, and with a dark complexion. He is bald, but had an unshaven face with a partially gray beard, and had a scar on the top left of his head.
When last seen, the man was wearing a multicolored t-shirt with red-and-white stripes, black pants and brown boots.

A 6-year-old girl was killed and two teenagers were injured in a shooting early this morning in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
The shooting happened about 6 a.m. in the 7400 block of South Sangamon Avenue. He said someone walked up to the front porch of a home in that block and fired shots inside, striking the 6-year-old, a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl.
The 17-year-old was taken to John H. Stroger's Hospital and the 16-year-old was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Both were reported in good condition.
UPATE: The 6-year-old's name was Arianna Gibson.
