Woman shot in cheek in Bronzeville neighborhood

A woman was hospitalized this morning after she was shot in the face in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the city's South Side.
The shooting happened at about 12:12 a.m. in the 4200 block of South Prairie Avenue.
The woman, whose age wasn't immediately known, was struck in the left cheek inside of a residence.
The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition.

 A 23-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg in the 5000 block of South King Drive. Police didn't immediately have details about this shooting.

A 31-year-old man was pronounced dead this afternoon shortly after being shot on the Southeast Side.
The shooting happened on the 4600 block of South Langley Avenue at about 1:06 p.m..

Kedron Jones of the 4900 block of South Champlain Avenue was shot in the chest and leg and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 1:38 p.m..

28-year-old man shot in Washington Park neighborhood

A 28-year-old man was shot while walking on a sidewalk on the 5800 block of South Prairie Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood, an area that has seen a number of shootings recently.
The shots came from a dark-colored SUV driving by.
He was shot in the arm and suffered a graze wound to his back. He was transported to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition.

The 17 year old  had just walked out of a business near the intersection of South Wabash Avenue and 59th Street at about 7 p.m. when two teenage gunmen approached from behind and opened fire.
The victim was shot in the leg.

Earlier Saturday afternoon, a 24-year-old man was shot in his upper back on the South Side in the Washington Park neighborhood.

The body of a partially-clothed woman was found in a vacant lot this morning in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side.
The unidentified woman appeared to be in her 30s and was found face down in a vacant lot on the 5400 block of South Calumet Avenue.

That shooting happened on the 5600 block of King Drive  in the Washington Park neighborhood where another man was shot several times in a possible drive-by Preliminary reports stated the victim, 19, was standing outside when he heard shots and felt pain.

A female suffered a graze wound to her leg after being shot in the 5100 block of South Calumet Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side, according to a police new release. She was taken in good condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

More ghetto wilding this time from Chinatown

Officials have charged seven teens today for beating and robbing an 18-year-old man Friday outside of the Cermak-Chinatown CTA station.
The attack happened about 11 p.m. at 138 W. Cermak Rd. outside of the Red Line stop.
The victim was robbed and beaten and sustained facial injuries and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr., Hospital of Cook County.
The man was walking westbound on Cermak Road when the group of teens approached him and demanded his cellphone and other items before robbing and battering him.
After the teens robbed the man of a cell phone, debit card and identification card, they ran into the L station and were on the platform when they were spotted by security guards working for the CTA who were then able to hold the teens for police.

Knox Avenue in Skokie was ordered held on $150,000 bail; Devin Mossiah, 17, of the 6600 block of North Ashland Avenue in Chicago was held on $100,000 bail; Duwon Polk, 17, of the 1700 block of W. Pratt Boulevard in Chicago was held on $100,000 bail and Denzel Olagbegi, 17, of the 1400 block of West Pratt Boulevard in Chicago.

The shooting happened about 10:06 p.m. on the 3900 block of South Langley Avenue in the Bronzeville neighborhood.
Preliminary reports said a male victim was found shot in the back. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition has stabilized.

46-year-old woman was shot in the Bronzeville neighborhood

A 46-year-old woman was shot in the buttock and suffered a graze wound to her head at 10:18 p.m. in the 200 block of East 51st Street in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side.
She was walking on the street with companions when a male assailant approached on foot and opened fire. She was reported in stable condition at Stroger Hospital.

A man was left in serious condition tonight following a shooting on the South Side in the Washington Park neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 6:45 p.m. on the 5600 block of South Wabash Avenue. Preliminary reports said a 25-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds to his hip and thigh.

2 wounded in Washington Park shooting

Two men were wounded this evening in a shooting on the South Side in the city's Washington Park neighborhood.
 Chicago Fire Department paramedics were called about 6:15 p.m. to the 5800 block of South Prairie Avenue.
 A 27-year-old man was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Stroger Hospital. A second man, 21, was taken in fair-to-serious condition to University of Chicago Hospital.

Boy, 13, shot dead while playing basketball

Darius Brown was playing at Metcalfe Park in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when a shot from a passing car hit him in the neck. He died hours later at Comer Children's Hospital.
Police say they don't believe Darius was the intended target. No arrests have been made and police said they do not have a description of the car.
This is at least the second time in a month that violence has claimed an innocent life in Bronzeville.
In July, barbecue restaurant cook Joshua Hudgins was taking a cigarette break when he was hit in the chest in a drive-by shooting -- just a block east from the park where Darius was killed. Police said they did not believe Hudgins was the target. His killer hasn't been caught.

Police Officer shot on South Side in good condition

A Chicago police officer was in good condition after suffering a graze wound from a shooting on the South Side.
The 43-year-old male police officer was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital after the shooting which occurred at about 2:30 p.m.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of LaSalle Street and 43rd Street, officials said.

The first shooting happened about 11:54 p.m. on the 500 block of East 65th Street in the city's Woodlawn neighborhood. The victim, later identified by the medical examiner's office as Marquis Strong, 26, of the 7100 block of South Yates Avenue, got into a verbal altercation with another man, police said. The second man pulled a gun, shot Yates, and then fled the scene on a bicycle.
Strong was shot in the chest and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr., Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 12:25 a.m.

About three minutes later, another man was shot in the city's Washington Park neighborhood.
That shooting happened on the 300 block of East 56th Street. Preliminary reports said the man was walking when he was shot in the arm. He was taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.

Less than 20 minutes later, three more people were wounded in a drive-by shooting in the same neighborhood.
That shooting happened on the 5700 block of South Wabash Avenue. Preliminary reports stated an 18-year-old woman and two men, ages 18 and 21, were shot while they were sitting on a porch. Apparently, a vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots, striking the three victims.
The woman suffered a wound to her hip and was taken in stable condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The 18-year-old man was shot in both arms and was taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital. The third man, 21, suffered a graze wound to his head and was taken in good condition to the University of Chicago Hospitals.

About 1:15 a.m. a.m. this morning, two men were shot by a male gunman in the 6100 block of South Talman Avenue, according to a news release from Chicago Police News Affairs. One man, 35, was shot in the chin and abdomen and was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center; the other, 36, was shot in the back and is in good condition.

Shortly before 2 a.m. on the 1200 block of South Independence Boulevard, two women were shot on the city's West Side, officials said. The women were part of a group standing on the sidewalk when a male gunman fired in their direction, striking them both, police said.
A 19-year-old suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her legs. She was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. The other victim, 22, was shot in the forearm. She was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai.

Man fatally shot in drive-by on South Side

A 25-year-old man was fatally shot in a drive-by while sitting in a vehicle Saturday on the South Side, police said.
At 7 p.m., the man was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 5200 block of South Martin Luther King Drive when a small grey sport utility vehicle pulled up alongside the man, said police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.
The driver of the SUV leaned out and fired multiple shots at the victim before fleeing northbound on King Drive, Kubiak said.
The man drove north onto the Parkway before crashing into a tree, she said.
He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he was pronounced dead at 10:30 p.m. later that night.
No one was in custody and it is believed the man had gang affiliations, police said.
