At about 9:15 p.m., a 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were standing outside in the 6400 block of South King Drive when both were struck by gunshots to their legs.

Man, 20, fatally shot near South Side housing complex

A 20-year-old man was shot and killed near the sprawling Parkway Gardens housing complex on the South Side.
The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the neck, at about 11:35 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of East 64th Street.
Police temporarily shut down several surrounding streets as detectives conducted their investigation, a witness said.
The man, Odee Perry, of the 10900 block of South Racine Avenue, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:18 a.m. Thursday.

1 shot dead, 8 wounded in violence on South Side

The first shooting happened about 11:54 p.m. on the 500 block of East 65th Street in the city's Woodlawn neighborhood. The victim, later identified by the medical examiner's office as Marquis Strong, 26, of the 7100 block of South Yates Avenue, got into a verbal altercation with another man, police said. The second man pulled a gun, shot Yates, and then fled the scene on a bicycle.
Strong was shot in the chest and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr., Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 12:25 a.m.

About three minutes later, another man was shot in the city's Washington Park neighborhood.
That shooting happened on the 300 block of East 56th Street. Preliminary reports said the man was walking when he was shot in the arm. He was taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.

Less than 20 minutes later, three more people were wounded in a drive-by shooting in the same neighborhood.
That shooting happened on the 5700 block of South Wabash Avenue. Preliminary reports stated an 18-year-old woman and two men, ages 18 and 21, were shot while they were sitting on a porch. Apparently, a vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots, striking the three victims.
The woman suffered a wound to her hip and was taken in stable condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The 18-year-old man was shot in both arms and was taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital. The third man, 21, suffered a graze wound to his head and was taken in good condition to the University of Chicago Hospitals.

About 1:15 a.m. a.m. this morning, two men were shot by a male gunman in the 6100 block of South Talman Avenue, according to a news release from Chicago Police News Affairs. One man, 35, was shot in the chin and abdomen and was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center; the other, 36, was shot in the back and is in good condition.

Shortly before 2 a.m. on the 1200 block of South Independence Boulevard, two women were shot on the city's West Side, officials said. The women were part of a group standing on the sidewalk when a male gunman fired in their direction, striking them both, police said.
A 19-year-old suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her legs. She was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. The other victim, 22, was shot in the forearm. She was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai.

At least 5 shot in overnight violence on South Side

At least five people were shot and wounded in separate incidents on the South Side overnight, police said.
At 11:10 p.m. in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, a 27-year-old man was shot in the forearm in the 5200 block of South Justine Street, according to a news release from Chicago Police News Affairs. He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center where he was listed in good condition.

At 11:50 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was critically wounded when he was shot in the head in the Englewood neighborhood. The teen was standing with a group of people in the 7000 block of South Eggleston Avenue when shots were fired and he was hit, according to a News Affairs release. The teen was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. No one else was injured, police said.

At 2:32 a.m. in the Parkway Gardens neighborhood, a 26-year-old man was shot multiple times as he was standing outside in the 400 block of East 65th Street, according to a News Affairs news release. He suffered gunshot wounds to his leg, hand and back. He was taken the Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was listed in good condition.

At 3:12 a.m. in the West Englewood neighborhood, two men were shot in the 7200 block of South Honore Street, according to a News Affairs release. An 18-year-old was shot in the back and a 28-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his arm. Both went to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The 18-year-old's condition had stabilized; the 28-year-old was in good condition
No one was in custody for any incident and area detectives were investigating
