The 17 year old  had just walked out of a business near the intersection of South Wabash Avenue and 59th Street at about 7 p.m. when two teenage gunmen approached from behind and opened fire.
The victim was shot in the leg.

Man seriously wounded in Washington Park shooting

A man was left in serious condition tonight following a shooting on the South Side in the Washington Park neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 6:45 p.m. on the 5600 block of South Wabash Avenue. Preliminary reports said a 25-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds to his hip and thigh.
 The man was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Stroger Hospital.

2 wounded in Washington Park shooting

Two men were wounded this evening in a shooting on the South Side in the city's Washington Park neighborhood.
 Chicago Fire Department paramedics were called about 6:15 p.m. to the 5800 block of South Prairie Avenue.
 A 27-year-old man was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Stroger Hospital. A second man, 21, was taken in fair-to-serious condition to University of Chicago Hospital.

A 19-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg about 12:30 a.m. today in the 300 block of East 60th Street in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side, police said. He was treated and released from the University of Chicago Medical Center.

1 shot dead, 8 wounded in violence on South Side

The first shooting happened about 11:54 p.m. on the 500 block of East 65th Street in the city's Woodlawn neighborhood. The victim, later identified by the medical examiner's office as Marquis Strong, 26, of the 7100 block of South Yates Avenue, got into a verbal altercation with another man, police said. The second man pulled a gun, shot Yates, and then fled the scene on a bicycle.
Strong was shot in the chest and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr., Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 12:25 a.m.

About three minutes later, another man was shot in the city's Washington Park neighborhood.
That shooting happened on the 300 block of East 56th Street. Preliminary reports said the man was walking when he was shot in the arm. He was taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.

Less than 20 minutes later, three more people were wounded in a drive-by shooting in the same neighborhood.
That shooting happened on the 5700 block of South Wabash Avenue. Preliminary reports stated an 18-year-old woman and two men, ages 18 and 21, were shot while they were sitting on a porch. Apparently, a vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots, striking the three victims.
The woman suffered a wound to her hip and was taken in stable condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The 18-year-old man was shot in both arms and was taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital. The third man, 21, suffered a graze wound to his head and was taken in good condition to the University of Chicago Hospitals.

About 1:15 a.m. a.m. this morning, two men were shot by a male gunman in the 6100 block of South Talman Avenue, according to a news release from Chicago Police News Affairs. One man, 35, was shot in the chin and abdomen and was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center; the other, 36, was shot in the back and is in good condition.

Shortly before 2 a.m. on the 1200 block of South Independence Boulevard, two women were shot on the city's West Side, officials said. The women were part of a group standing on the sidewalk when a male gunman fired in their direction, striking them both, police said.
A 19-year-old suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her legs. She was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. The other victim, 22, was shot in the forearm. She was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai.

1 killed, 5 wounded in city-wide violence overnight

A man was killed in a drive-by shooting early this morning, one of several instances of overnight violence that also left five people wounded.
About 1:30 a.m., two men were standing on the sidewalk in the 3600 block of West Chicago Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side when a light-colored vehicle drove by and fired shots at the men, according to a release from the Chicago Police Department's News Affairs.
A 28-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and later died. He was identified as Stanley Washington of the 7500 block of South Peoria Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at 1:45 a.m. at Norwegian-American Hospital.
A 23-year-old man was shot in his abdomen and was taken to Mount Sinai in serious condition.

In other shootings, at 1:52 a.m. in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood, a 52-year-old woman was shot in the neck by a male attacker in the 1100 block of North Keystone Avenue. She was taken in serious condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

At 2:20 a.m. in the Little Village neighborhood, a 25-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by in the 2200 block of South Troy Street. A light-colored van drove by and fired shots, striking him in both legs. He was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

At 2:44 a.m. in the Washington Park neighborhood, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the ankle as he was standing on the street in the 5900 block of South Prairie Avenue. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and listed in good condition.

At 3:10 a.m. in the Lake View neighborhood, a 24-year-old man was stabbed in the 900 block of West Belmont Avenue, police said. He was walking on the street when two people approached him from behind and began to fight with him. He suffered a stab wound to the back and was taken in good condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
No one was in custody and area detectives were investigating.

3 shot in South Side drive-by

Three men were wounded Monday night in an apparent drive-by shooting in the Washington Park neighborhood on the city's South Side, officials said.

The shooting occurred about 9:50 p.m. on the 5900 block of South Wabash Avenue, said Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines.

Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle leave the scene at a high rate of speed, Gaines said.

A 25-year-old man suffered a wound to his leg. An 18-year-old man was shot in the thigh and was in serious condition. Both men were taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.

A 21-year-old man was taken to the University of Chicago Hospitals with a bullet wound to his foot.

As of 11:12 p.m., no one was in custody for the shootings. Wentworth Area detectives were investigating.

Man critically wounded in Washington Park shooting

A man was found shot multiple times and critically wounded this morning on the South Side in the city's Washington Park neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 2 a.m. on the 5800 block of South Wabash Avenue, said Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
The victim was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, he said.
The circumstances behind the shooting were unknown and as of 4 a.m., no one was in custody, Alfaro said.

At least six people, including three teenagers, were shot in various incidents in the West and South sides late Monday afternoon and evening, according to police.
An 18-year-old woman was shot in lower leg the Washington Park neighborhood around 5:30 p.m., according to police. The victim was walking on the 5900 block of South Michigan Avenue when she heard shots and realized that she’d been hit, police said. She was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in good condition

, a release said. The man was drunk and has gang ties, police said. He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he was listed in stable condition.
