Police issue alert for Lakeview strongarm robber

About 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, a female was walking and talking on her cell phone near Belmont Avenue and Broadway when her assailant began talking to her.
 Police issued a community alert this evening warning Lakeview residents of a recent robbery and battery of a female victim.
The man told the victim he was looking for a family member and persuaded her to let him inside of her building.
 Once she let him inside the lobby, he robbed and beat her.
 The robber was described by police as a black male, between the ages of 16 and 23, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and between 120 and 140 pounds. He has short hair, a dark complexion and facial hair.

1 killed, 5 wounded in city-wide violence overnight

A man was killed in a drive-by shooting early this morning, one of several instances of overnight violence that also left five people wounded.
About 1:30 a.m., two men were standing on the sidewalk in the 3600 block of West Chicago Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side when a light-colored vehicle drove by and fired shots at the men, according to a release from the Chicago Police Department's News Affairs.
A 28-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and later died. He was identified as Stanley Washington of the 7500 block of South Peoria Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at 1:45 a.m. at Norwegian-American Hospital.
A 23-year-old man was shot in his abdomen and was taken to Mount Sinai in serious condition.

In other shootings, at 1:52 a.m. in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood, a 52-year-old woman was shot in the neck by a male attacker in the 1100 block of North Keystone Avenue. She was taken in serious condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

At 2:20 a.m. in the Little Village neighborhood, a 25-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by in the 2200 block of South Troy Street. A light-colored van drove by and fired shots, striking him in both legs. He was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

At 2:44 a.m. in the Washington Park neighborhood, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the ankle as he was standing on the street in the 5900 block of South Prairie Avenue. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and listed in good condition.
BEAT 233

At 3:10 a.m. in the Lake View neighborhood, a 24-year-old man was stabbed in the 900 block of West Belmont Avenue, police said. He was walking on the street when two people approached him from behind and began to fight with him. He suffered a stab wound to the back and was taken in good condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
No one was in custody and area detectives were investigating.
