Woman shot in cheek in Bronzeville neighborhood

A woman was hospitalized this morning after she was shot in the face in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the city's South Side.
The shooting happened at about 12:12 a.m. in the 4200 block of South Prairie Avenue.
The woman, whose age wasn't immediately known, was struck in the left cheek inside of a residence.
The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition.

Man shot in back in Bronzeville

The shooting happened about 10:06 p.m. on the 3900 block of South Langley Avenue in the Bronzeville neighborhood.
Preliminary reports said a male victim was found shot in the back. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition has stabilized.

2 teen girls wounded in separate shootings

Two teenage girls were hospitalized this evening after being wounded in separate shootings on the South Side, officials said.
The first shooting occurred at about 5:07 p.m. on the 600 block of East 42nd Street in the Bronzeville neighborhood, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

The girl, who was listed by authorities as either 14 or 15 years of age, was shot in the neck and taken to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition, said Chicago Fire Department Chief Joe Roccasalva.

The girl was standing on the street when a black Chevy Camaro drove by and someone from inside the vehicle fired shots, striking the girl, said Zala.

In the second shooting, a 14-year-old girl was shot at about 5:30 p.m. near the area of 116th and State Streets in the Pullman neighborhood, Zala said.

The girl was shot in the buttocks while she was standing on the sidewalk.
