A teenage boy was critically wounded and a man with him also was shot this morning in the city's Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. in the 600 block of East 45th Street, police said.
Early reports said the boy and the 25-year-old man were standing on the sidewalk when a gunman opened fire on them, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.
The teen was shot in his lower back, while the man suffered a graze wound to the groin, Alfaro said.
The teen was initially taken to Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago before he was transferred to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said. The man was hospitalized in good condition.
