Police release sketch of suspect in kidnapping attempt


Police today released a sketch of a suspect who tried to force a 14-year-old girl into a van this week in the Bridgeport neighborhood on the South Side.

About 7 p.m. Wednesday the girl was walking on the 600 block of West 36th Street when the man approached on foot and tried to force her into a nearby van, police said in a community alert.

The girl was able to fight off the man and run away, while the suspect got into the black, full-size work van and drove off.

The alert describes the suspect as an Hispanic man 30-40 years old, 6-foot to 6-foot-5, medium build with a medium complexion and thick curly hair. He was wearing a dark shirt, jeans and work boots.
