Man shot in head drives himself to South Side hospital

A man shot in the back of the head this morning remained lucid enough to drive himself six blocks to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The 36-year-old man was inside his Ford Focus when a gunshot struck him in the head in the 1300 block of East 74th Street in the Grand Crossing neighborhood at about 12:03 a.m., police said.

Still conscious and able to talk, the man drove to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center, where he told his tale to police.

Man shot in South Shore neighborhood

A man in his 20s was seriously wounded in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood this morning.
The man was shot multiple times in an attack in the 1700 block of East 72nd Street about 9:39 a.m.
The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious-to-critical condition.

The man was identified this evening as Jermaine Smith, 18, who lived on the block.

Man shot a whole lot of times on South Side

A man was shot three times this afternoon in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.
The 22-year-old man was shot about 4:20 p.m. on the 1100 block of East 72nd Street. He sustained three gunshot wounds to the chest and was taken in serious condition to the Hospital.

The hits just keep coming- man, woman shot in traffic on South Side

A couple riding in a vehicle waiting in traffic were wounded Sunday night near a South Side intersection, police said.

The shooting happened at about 7:45 p.m. on the 7100 block of South Greenwood Avenue, police said.
The 21-year-old victim told police that he was stopped in traffic with his 19-year-old female passenger when another vehicle pulled up along his and someone opened fire, police said, citing preliminary information.

The man was struck in the right leg, while his passenger was struck in the buttocks. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, police said.

No one had been arrested in the shooting and police didn't have a description of the other vehicle or its driver.

40 YR OLD MAN KILLED IN SOUTH SHORE

At about 11 p.m., a 40-year-old man was shot in the abdomen while on the street in the 7200 block of South Cornell Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
The man was identified as Myron Smith of the 8600 block of South Dante Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
