A man is suspected in at least four attempts to lure school-age children this spring in the West Woodlawn and Woodlawn neighborhoods on the South Side.
In each case the man, either on foot or in a vehicle, approached a child walking on the street and offered candy before blowing kisses at the victim and attempting to have the child go with him.
The four incidents warned about in the alert took place:
• April 1 at about 7:30 p.m. on the 6200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.
• May 24 at about 5 p.m., also on the 6200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.
• June 4 at about 6:30 p.m. on the 6300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.
• June 6 at about 6:30 p.m. on the 6200 block of South Drexel Avenue.
The alert describes the suspect as a black man 20-30 years old, with brown eyes, a dark complexion and black hair worn in dreadlocks with gold tips. No clothing description was provided.
Two vehicles have been involved in some of the incidents, police said: a red Pontiac Montana van and a white four-door vehicle with center caps missing from the wheels
