Larry Porter, 25, was driving a black 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee south on the expressway at about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday when he was apparently shot by another motorist.
The Jeep veered off on the 87th Street off-ramp and struck several parked cars and a business at a strip mall in the 8600 block of South Lafayette Avenue.
Porter, of the 10000 block of South Parnell Avenue, was dead at the scene.
A 34-year-old man in the front passenger seat of the SUV suffered a minor graze wound and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was treated and released.
A 27-year-old man in the back seat wasn't injured.
