Chicago police shot and wounded a man who pointed a gun at officers during a
chase through the Woodlawn
neighborhood.
Another man was injured when he was struck by a police car responding to the
scene. Neither man suffered life-threatening injuries.
The confrontation began near 62nd Street and Rhodes Avenue around 7:40 p.m.
Monday as officers were checking a call of shots fired.
The officers stopped a car with four people and two of them got out and
started running away. As the officers shouted at the man to drop his weapon, he tried to scale
a fence but then turned and ran at the officers and raised his gun.
One of the officers fired his gun and the man was hit in the leg.
The second person who fled from the car was hit by a police car as he crossed
St. Lawrence Avenue
