A Gresham man was ordered held on $125,000 bail, accused of robbing a
79-year-old man last month and punching him so hard he had to undergo surgery.
In court today, Judge Laura Sullivan set bail at $125,000 for Dominic
Johnson.
Johnson, 18, of the 7500 block of South Normal Avenue, was charged
Tuesday with one felony count of robbery of a senior citizen after he was
identified by the victim.
The attack occurred March 27 in the 400 block of West 79th Street
when the victim saw Johnson gambling behind his property. When the
elderly man told him to leave, Johnson pushed him against his truck and punched
him in the abdomen.
While the man was lying on the ground, Johnson went through his pockets and
took $1,000.
About a week after the attack, the victim began having extreme pain from the
beating and was admitted to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he
