A 16-year-old girl was stabbed in a South Side public high school this morning with scissors grabbed from a teacher's desk.
Paramedics responded to Hirsch High School, 7740 S. Ingleside Ave. The stabbing took place in the school about 10:36 a.m.
She was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
The female student was stabbed in the neck, but her condition was stabilized at Christ Medical Center.
Citing preliminary details, police said the victim was choking another girl when up to four other people intervened. One of those people grabbed a pair of scissors off a teacher’s desk and stabbed the victim in the neck.
The stabbing victim did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
She, her attacker and several other people were being questioned.
