An 84-year-old man was pronounced dead today after he was struck by a car on Sunday, officials said.
Isidro Casanova of the 9300 block of South Normal Avenue was pronounced dead at 2:11 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Casanova was injured at about 10 a.m. on the 3100 block of West 63rd Street as he was crossing 63rd Street walking northbound.
As Casanova was walking, a woman driving a 2006 Infiniti southbound on Troy Avenue attempted to make a left turn onto 63rd Street striking the man.
After the accident, the woman remained on the scene as emergency crews and police responded. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical in critical condition where he later died.
The 22-year-old woman was ticketed for failure to exercise due care for pedestrians
