A 48-year-old man was critically injured in a car fire Wednesday night on the city's South Side.
Chicago firefighters pulled the 48-year-old man from the passenger seat of the burning vehicle stopped in the 7800 block of South Kenwood Avenue at about 9:30 p.m..
Police Bomb and Arson detectives were also called to the scene of the fire that occurred just south of the Chicago Skyway in the Grand Crossing neighborhood.
The man, suffering from smoke inhalation, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
The cause of the fire wasn't known, though it appeared it started in the car's engine
