Three men were hospitalized this afternoon after being shot in the West Pullman neighorhood on the far South Side.
But officials also said seven other people were injured, including four children, in a traffic accident after Chicago Fire Department crews were being dispatched to the shooting.
Police were called to the 11600 block of South Ada Street shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Two of the men were shot in a home at that location while a third man was shot outside.
An 18-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his chest and stomach.
A second man sustained a gunshot wound to his mouth and a third man was shot in his side.
Two were taken in serious-to-critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The other, also in serious-to-critical condition, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Police could not immediately say which of the victims was shot inside the home and could not provide information about what lead up to the shooting
While responding to the shooting scene, an ambulance was struck by a car that disobeyed the red light signal at 115th Street and Wentworth Avenue.
A Chicago Fire Department field chief, two adults and four children were taken to Metro South Medical Center in Blue Island and Roseland Community Hospital, all in fair-to-serious condition
