Police are questioning an 18-year-old man suspected of using a sawed-off shotgun to rob three people at the Sheridan stop of the CTA Red Line over the weekend, hours after a similar robbery at the Loyola stop.
The Sheridan stop robberies occurred at 3:20 a.m. Saturday on the platform in the 3900 block of North Sheridan Road.
The victims, a 20-year-old woman two man, ages 20 and 25, were waiting for a train when a man came up, took the shotgun from his backpack and aimed it at them.
The man demanded cell phones from the three and fled. The victims were not injured.
Earlier, about 1:45 a.m., a young man or boy, armed with a shotgun, approached a 22-year-old man who was waiting for a train on the platform at the Loyola stop. The man with the gun demanded the other man's cell phone and then fled.
UPDATE: Sylvester Curry, 18, of the 4600 block of North Beacon Street, is charged with four counts of armed robbery with a firearm,
