A young woman was critically injured this morning in a shooting on the city's West Side, according to Chicago police.
According to early reports, the 21-year-old woman was standing on the sidewalk in the 4800 block of West Augusta Boulevard just before 1 a.m. when shots were fired from a nearby vehicle, police said.
The woman, who was struck in the back and side, was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.
Police could only describe the vehicle where the gunshots came from as light-colored. Police hadn't made any arrests. The motive for the shooting remained unclear.
