A West Englewood man has been arrested for burning his stepson by throwing a caustic substance on him and for stabbing the stepson with a screwdriver, police said today.
Karl Morley, 48, of the 1500 block of West 72nd Street, was charged Saturday with a felony count of heinous battery and one count of misdemeanor domestic battery, police said.
On June 6, Morley allegedly threw a caustic substance from a Jack Daniel's whiskey bottle on his adult stepson, police said. The stepson suffered burns to his face, neck and mouth and was taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment. Police did not say what the caustic substance was.
On May 24, the stepson had reported to police that Morley stabbed him multiple times with a screwdriver, causing lacerations and scratches to his head, police said.
Morley turned himself in to the Wentworth Area detective division today with attorney Joel Brodsky by his side, police said. Morley was identified by the stepson as his attacker.
Morley was scheduled to appear in bond court today.
