A drunk motorist hit and injured two pedestrians within a block of each other early this morning in the Lawndale neighborhood before he was stopped and arrested.
At 12:21 a.m., a man driving a green sport utility vehicle was heading west on West Roosevelt Road when he hit a pedestrian in the 3800 block of Roosevelt, according to police.
The pedestrian--a man--flew over the hood and suffered multiple trauma injuries, police said. He was listed in serious condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
The motorist left the scene and kept driving until he hit another pedestrian, also a man, in the 3900 block of Roosevelt. This pedestrian suffered a fractured leg and was listed in good condition at Mount Sinai, police said.
Witnesses flagged down police who were able to catch up to the motorist and take him into custody, police said.
The man was not injured but taken to Mount Sinai as well.
Police believe alcohol was factor.
The Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating
