Chicago police are investigating the shooting death of a woman found lying on the ground this morning in the city's Englewood neighborhood, officials said.
Officers responded to a call of a person down shortly after 6 a.m. on the 5700 block of South Loomis Boulevard, said Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli. On arrival, police found a woman, described as in her mid 20s to 30s, with a gunshot wound to her head, Mirabelli said, citing preliminary reports.
The woman was pronounced dead, but it was not clear if she was taken to an area hospital or pronounced at the scene.
