Police and emergency medical crews were on the scene in the South Shore neighborhood where two people were shot this afternoon, authorities said.
The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. near 79th Street and Escanaba Avenue. Two adults were shot, police said, citing preliminary information.
One person from the scene was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and another was taken to Stroger Hospital, said Rich Rosado, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman. Both were in serious-to-critical condition.
Today's shooting happened near the same spot on April 12 where five people were shot during a barbecue to honor a man who had been killed in a shooting exactly a year before.
