A man was shot and seriously wounded inside an Englewood neighborhood convenience store this afternoon, Chicago police said.
Authorities initially reported that a second person was also wounded in the shooting, but police couldn't immediately account for that person. Police did take a person into custody afterward.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was inside the store in the 5900 block of South Morgan Street at about 2:17 p.m., when a gunman opened fire, police spokesman Officer Daryl Baety said.
The wounded man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, Fire Department spokesman Will Knight said.
Knight said a second person was also wounded and taken to St. Bernard Hospital in fair-to-serious condition, but neither Baety nor Wentworth Area detectives could provide any details on that person.
