A South Side man was arrested after police ran into him with an unmarked squad car as he was allegedly fleeing the scene of a shooting.
Demetrice Allen, 28, of the 6100 block of South Morgan Street in the Englewood neighborhood, appeared in Cook County bond court today with his head wrapped in a white bandage. He has been charged with battery, unauthorized use of a weapon, and aggravated assault of police officers in connection with the Saturday incident, records show. His bond was set at $250,000.
After hearing shots being fired Saturday afternoon in a Food Mart on the 5900 block of South Morgan Street in Englewood, police saw Allen, 28, coming out of the store with a blue steel revolver in his hand, according to police records.
The officers followed him into a nearby alley, where Allen allegedly pulled the gun from his waistband. Fearing for their safety, the officers ran into him with their car, records show.
