Three people were hospitalized after being shot in separate shootings on the South and West Sides this afternoon, police said.
The first shooting happened at about 2 p.m. on the 7900 block of South Marquette in the South Chicago neighborhood, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Anne Dwyer said.
In this case, a 30-year-old man was shot in the upper left chest area and also sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm, Dwyer said. He was hospitalized in serious condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, she said.
About five minutes after the shooting, a 17-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to his body and was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital where his condition had stablized, Dwyer said.
The teen was walking on the 6700 block of South Evans Avenue in the Park Manor neighborhood when a car drove by and a passenger fired in a drive-by shooting, Dwyer said.
At 3 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in his upper left leg on the 4500 block of West Wilcox Street in the West Garfield neighborhood, Dwyer said. The shooting happened as the man was being robbed, Dwyer said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital but his condition was unknown, Dwyer said.
Detectives are investigating all three shootings, no one was in custody.
