2 shot in drive-by on West Side

Two people were hospitalized after being shot in a drive-by this afternoon in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.
The shooting happened at about 4 p.m. on the 700 block of North Springfield Avenue.
A teenage boy was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition after being shot in the head.
The female, whose age was not available, was in good condition after beiing shot in the arm.

3 men shot in Humbolt Park neighborhood

Three males were shot about 1:52 a.m. today in the 900 block of North Harding Avenue in Humboldt Park. All three were standing on a sidewalk when a man fired shots from an alley. A 15-year-old was hit in the upper chest and is in serious condition at Mount Sinai Hospital. An 18-year-old suffered a graze wound to this arm and a 19-year-old sufferred a graze wound to the shoulder; both are in good condition at Norwegian-American Hospital.

Man murdered in vehicle on West Side

A 29-year-old man who was found shot to death inside a vehicle this morning in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
About 12:26 a.m., police responded to a traffic crash on the 3700 block of West Chicago Avenue. When they arrived, officers found the man murdered inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds to his torso and legs.

2 men wounded in Humboldt Park neighborhood shooting

Two men were critically wounded in an apparent drive-by shooting this afternoon in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

The two were shot about 4:50 p.m. while standing at about 1100 N. Springfield Ave., according to a spokesman for the Police News Affairs office.
Preliminary information indicated it was a possible drive-by shooting, but details were few as the investigation continued, according to Officer Darryl Baety.

The two victims were taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition, he said.

The body of a man was found in a garbage can Monday morning in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

The unidentified man, believed to be in his 40s, was found inside a garbage can at in the 800 block of North Springfield Avenue and pronounced dead on the scene at 8 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said officers responded about 7:20 a.m. and are conducting a “death investigation.”

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, the medical examiner’s office said.

Harrison Area detectives are investigating.

6 wounded in West, South Side violence

At least six people, including three teenagers, were shot in various incidents in the West and South sides late Monday afternoon and evening, according to police
A 14-year-old boy was shot in the leg in the East Garfield Park neighborhood just before 7 p.m., police said. The boy was standing in a doorway on the 700 block of North Harding Avenue when he heard a gunshot and saw that he had been hit in the left thigh, police said. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition

Man, woman wounded in armed robbery on West Side

A man and a woman were shot during an armed robbery in the West Side Humboldt Park neighborhood early this morning, police said.
About 1 a.m, a 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were walking in the 1100 block of North Central Park Avenue when an armed male approached and demanded money, a release from police News Affairs said.
The attacker then fired, hitting the man in the leg and grazing the woman in the hand, before fleeing the scene, the release said.
The man and women were taken in good condition to Norwegian-American Hospital, the release said.
No one was in custody and Harrison Area detectives are investigating.

Man critically wounded in Humboldt Park shooting

A man was critically injured this afternoon when he was shot in the city's Humboldt Park neighborhood.

The victim, 25, was shot in the back on the 1100 block of North Harding Avenue around 5:15 p.m., police spokesman Officer Veejay Zala said. Zala had no further information on the shooting.

The wounded man was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Zala said.
