Man critically injured in Park Manor shooting

A man was critically injured after being shot in the face in the Park Manor neighorhood.
The shooting occurred at about 2:38 p.m. on the 6700 block of South Cottage Grove.
The man was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. He was shot in the face.

Man shot by retired cop after break-in

A South Side man faces a burglary charge after he was shot by a retired Chicago police sergeant when the man broke into the former officer’s property.
Carl Williams, 51, was charged with burglary after he was arrested in connection with the burglary in the 1300 block of East 67th Street late Friday morning.
Officers were called to the home about 11:30 a.m. after Williams broke into the building. Williams used a three-pound sledge hammer to break a window, according to court documents.
 The sergeant saw Williams with the hammer and shot him.
After being shot, Williams ran to the 6600 block of South Kenwood Avenue, where officers found him hiding under some bushes, police said. Officers discovered Williams had been shot in the lower right arm.

Man shot on South Side

A man was shot in the wrist Friday afternoon and a suspect is in custody after the incident on the South Side.

 About 11:30 a.m., someone shot the man in the wrist in the 6700 block of South Kenwood Avenue, according to police.

 He was taken to University of Chicago Hospitals, where he is in “stable” condition.

Man, woman shot on West Woodlawn porch

A man and a woman were shot this morning as they stood on a front porch in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
The victims, both 24 years old, were shot at about 2:50 a.m. in the 6500 block of South Rhodes Avenue, police said.
Authorities didn't say how the shooting occurred, but said the man was struck in the shoulder, while the woman was struck in the side. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition and were expected to survive, a police spokesman said.

No arrests had been made this morning. Police didn't offer a motive to the shooting

4 dead, at least 9 wounded in shootings overnight

Four people were killed and at least 9 wounded in overnight shootings on Chicago's South and West Sides.
The violence began about 9:24 p.m. in the Lawndale neighborhood when a 19-year-old was fatally shot in the 1400 block of South Trumbull Avenue.
A minute later at 9:25 p.m. in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, a 23-year-old man was shot and killed in the 300 block of South Kilpatrick Avenue.
At 9:45 p.m. in the McKinley Park neighborhood, a 17-year-old girl was shot in the side in Hoyne Park in the 3400 block of South Hamilton Avenue. A male on a bicycle rode up, got off his bike and fired shots through a fence into a crowd, hitting the girl, police said. Her condition had been stabilized at Mount Sinai Hospital, but  an exact condition was unavailable.

At 10:45 p.m. in the Woodlawn neighborhood, a 17-year-old boy was walking in the 6600 block of South Drexel Avenue when he was shot in his right knee, according to a police release. He was taken in good condition to University of Chicago Hospitals.
A minute later in the Bronzeville neighborhood, a man and woman were shot at a gas station near the intersection of South Michigan Avenue and East 47th Street, according to a police report. The man, 45, suffered a gunshot wound in his foot and was taken to University of Chicago Hospitals in good condition. The woman, 41, was shot in her arm and was taken in good condition to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines.
At 11:57 p.m. in the Gresham neighborhood, two 16-year-old boys were walking in the 1300 block of West 79th Street when an attacker approached and fired at them, striking them both in their legs, according to a police news release. Their conditions had stabilized at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

At 12:48 a.m. in the West Woodlawn neighborhood, a 17-year-old boy was sitting on a front porch in the 6600 block of South Langley Avenue when two people approached and fired at him. The teen suffered gunshot wounds in his arm, leg and hand and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where condition had stabilized.

At 1:43 a.m. in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, a 20-year-old man was shot in his head in the 5200 block of South Wood Street. The man was at a street party near the intersection of South Wood Street and West 52nd Street when an attacker fired a gun into a crowd of people, police said. The victim was listed in critical condition at Stroger.
At 1:45 a.m. in the Lawndale neighborhood, a man and woman were found shot to death inside a car in the 2700 block of West Polk Street.

At 2:15 a.m. in the Englewood neighborhood, a 24-year-old man suffered a graze wound to his leg in the 5500 block of South Lowe Avenue. He refused medical treatment, according to the police news release.
No one was in custody in any of the shootings and area detectives were investigating.

1 dead, 1 wounded in Grand Crossing shooting

One person has died and another wounded after a shooting tonight on the South Side in the city's Grand Crossing neighborhood.

The shooting happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. on the 6600 block of South Stony Island Avenue, said Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines.

Preliminary reports said two male victims, 51 and 23, were wounded, one critically, and both were taken to Stroger Hospital, Gaines said. One victim's condition was stabilized at the hospital, the officer said.
The 23-year-old was identified as Rondell Moore. He was pronounced dead at 9:20 p.m. at the hospital, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.

There was no immediate information available from police about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
 
As of 10:30 p.m., no one was in custody for the shooting. Wentworth Area detectives were investigating
