A man has been charged with killing a Burnside neighborhood man near his home two weeks ago after the victim was allegedly harassing guests at a party near his house.
Willie Hubbard, 33, was charged with murder in the slaying of Edward James Scott, 48, about 8 p.m. on June 16, in the 9100 block of South Greenwood Avenue. Scott died of head injuries and impalement on a fence post in an assault, the Cook County medical examiner’s office found following his death.
Scott had been “harassing guests at a party,” when Hubbard got into a dispute with him and punched him, causing Scott to lose his balance and fall onto the fencepost. After he fell on the fencepost, he fell to the ground and hit his head.
Scoot was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was declared dead at 8:56 p.m. the same day.
Hubbard, of the Pullman neighborhood, was arrested Wednesday when he turned himself in to police.
