At about 9:30 p.m., a 29-year-old man identified by the medical examiner's office as Aaron Knox was fatally stabbed or shot outside his home in the 1000 block of West Garfield Boulevard.
The man was with another person he knew and got into a dispute that escalated into a fight outside the home. The other person went into the home, retrieved a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim. The man was discovered by emergency crews at the bottom of the home's front steps.
A person suspected of being the attacker was being questioned by police.
Knox was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital for treatment, and was declared dead at 4:06 a.m.
