Two people were shot on Leclaire Avenue just north of Madison Street about 12:45 a.m.
A 22-year-old man had been shot in the neck and buttocks and a friend tried to drive him to a hospital. Police responding to the shooting stopped a black car at Central Avenue in the alley north of Madison Street. Police found a gun nearby and the 22-year-old inside.
The man was taken to Loyola University Medical Center and a friend of his with blood on his T-shirt was taken into custody. Police found the man inside a black car bleeding from his wounds and the front driver-side window had been shot out.
A second person shot on Leclaire - a 19-year-old woman - was treated for a wound to her thigh at West Suburban Medical Center
